Thank you much for the fast forward action. I'm glad this wasn't split into 20 episodes. I just need to know the basics, not how to build it myself. Good videos.
Love your videos and DIY spirit! My brother is currently looking to build something similar, we are located in FW as well. He has found land in Grandview but doesn't know where to begin for the barndominium. Can you refer the company you used and outline general first steps and cost? Thanks!
Thanks! we did all the design work too. Once the building was constructed we made minor adjustments to wall positions based on the final building dimensions (in the first video you can see me on the laptop editing the floorplan accordingly). unfortunately we had many issues with the metal building contractor so i donot want to make a recommendation for them outside of that all the work was performed or coordinated by me.
Of the $100,000 cost what part of that did you pay in labor? Or any other cost outside of materials? I’m trying to lock down an actual materials cost. Thank you
80% of that cost is materials. BUT keep in mind lumber prices have increased 50% or more since the construction of this project. Create a material list and send it out for bids to your local lumber companies. Surprisingly Home depot , Mccoys, and Lowes are fairly competitive when it comes to bidding materials for larger projects like this. Only down side to these big chains is they don't stock less common dimensional lumber which can drastically reduce your cutoff waste.
Hey man love the building! I'm looking into building something very similar as well. So I had a question, of the 100k does that include the cost of the barn and foundation or is the 100k just for the living area? Thanks man!
Thats everything except land. The shop and foundation were subbed out for $37k the remaining $63K was septic, water main, and then finishing of the building including the labor we did not do ourselves.
the building is 40x50 and the house is half of that (25x40) or 1000 sqft. They are just about finished settling in. Once they give us the go ahead we will be doing a walk through video of the building and property. keep a look out for the video
Love your building was it done by a local contractor or what brand is it? Thanks You have done great work inside as well hope you continue doing videos too!
They tried to no avail. We had them repair them properly, they distorted the windows during installation causing leakage within the window frame. new windows had to be installed.
@@crowhomestead7552 WOW! prices have increased here in the US drastically since this was built. it would likely cost around 140K for this same build now (assuming you did around 50% of the work yourself) but it appears prices are simmering back down. keep in mind this does not include the land cost. you can expect around $5-7K per acre if you are buying 10+ anything smaller and the prices are much much higher.
Hello! Im researching ideas and plans for a similar build, and wanted to know if you still have the layout plans for this build!?
What metal building company did you use? Thanks

Thanks! Check out our latest post! Has a bit more detail than our previous videos
This looks awesome!

Cost was right around 100k including septic system and some dirt work for the site. This does not include the land itself.
I love the layout
Any chance I can get the floor plans?
Yes, find me on Instagram and we can exchange emails @hernaiz_construction
What size is the building
40x50
25x40 is house
25x40 is shop space

Could you talk about the dimensions of the house part?

it was a local contractor, fabricated on site. (we did get engineered plans for it)
They will come out and put a ton of caulk on those windows.

Where are you located?
FortWorth Texas
How much does this size barndo cost?
@@makemelaugh4391 around 100k is a good estimate for something this size including septic system

Turn off that circular lens you're using.
Sorry, it is a wide angle gopro. makes it easier to ensure we never miss anything if we forget to reposition the camera.
