My mother also started out as a fearful flyer and came to enjoy it. She eventually became an airline captain, and later was my flight instructor. Fast forward a couple more decades and I am now a captain at the same airline she worked for...
I am not a pilot (other than flying RC aircraft), but have had a love affair with flying and airplanes my entire life (I'm 65 years old). What a truly unique, fun, and inspirational couple of video segments! Watching you confront and then conquer your fear of lying was palpable. I'm truly impressed with your courage and the teaching methods employed by Jason. I hope to see more of you at the controls. BTW - you've won me over and I have subscribed to the channel (and yours as well, Jason). As always, thanks much for sharing. Steve
Steve, thanks for the message. Glad you enjoyed the video. My daughter and I got into flying RC aircraft a bit and that has been fun too. Thanks for subbing and hope you enjoy the future videos.
Congratulations on getting into the game! Having just the basic skills will not only make you adventures more enjoyable but also take so much pressure off of Eric. I’ve been a single pilot since 2012 and just having someone to help with radios, navigation and someone who can take over the controls would be so welcome. It not only makes the flight safer but cuts down on pilot fatigue. I also love your videography. I have 100’s of GoPro flights that doesn’t even come close to your quality! If your ever in San Diego reach out and I’ll introduce ya’ll to the aviation community at Montgomery.
Thanks! Love Montgomery airport -have landed there a few times. The Margaritas at Casa Machado are great...(if you have someone else that can fly back or are spending the night of course!)
I feel like I feel happier than Erick for having his wife involved in flying and actually loving it. I wish I could do the same! Nice idea about introducing it as a "safety training" XD
You are not alone. Find a flight school and ask for an Introductory flight. Tell them you've been thinking about getting involved in flight training. I am 68 years old and in the pre-solo phase of flight training. It's challenging and I'm having a ball. I have wanted to fly since I built balsa airplanes as a kid but life got in the way. Many dream about flying. Take the intro ride and see if you enjoy it.
@@robertyin4240 you are right, it is never late to learn to fly and is a wonderful experience, I wish you the best! However, what I meant was that I wish I could get my partner involved in flying and love it as I do 😀
Wait - you’re a pilot and you really thought I did ok?? If this is truly an authentic comment, that kind of compliment makes me think of starting the ground school app. 😬
Dear Poppins, as someone who struggles with lots of anxieties myself it has been so awesome and impressive to watch you conquer your fear of flying! Thank you for being willing to share such a vulnerable experience with us!

Loved this video. My PPL was a hodge podge of aircraft, then I did a crazy thing and converted to a twin Comanche before I qualified and did my nav and final check ride on the twin, a 1st for South Africa. And I was the youngest twin rated pilot in my country at 17. I wasn't legal to drive a car yet! To build hours, I flew everything I could get my hands on, ferrying aircraft for services (I lived in a small town). By the time I first flew a Cherokee Six, it was an old one, a 2 blade 260hp. I fell in love with that bird ❤️. It was the absolute most forgiving airframe I had ever managed. Then I flew a 300hp and was hooked. I haven't flown for many years and am determined one day I will again, and a Cherokke six would be my ultimate personal transport. I love the channel, and am envious as hell 😂❤️
Poppins, You exemplify one of my favorite quotes “Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.” Thanks for sharing your fears (and accomplishments) with the world!
