Thanks Antonio...Trying to contribute to General Aviation the best way I can. I hope all has been well! Always great to hear from you my friend! Happy Holidays!
I am so thankful to have found this channel. Thank you for sharing your passion with the world and admit you have inspired me to finally get my private pilot license. Y que bonita bandera! Dios bendiga a nuestra preciosa isla!
You are so welcome Luis! I am glad you found me and shared such an encouraging comment. You'll never regret getting your PPL. Keep me informed of your progress. Dios te bendiga Luis!
Great video, detailed explanations with costs and names. I hope your channel “takes flight” quickly! I just got my PPL this year and my Complex endorsement today, as well as starting instrument training. Keep the great videos coming!
Thanks for your great support Matt and I am glad that you have done that PPL. I can assure you that the instrument training will most likely be the best aviation training ever. To tell you the truth Mike, I am totally inspired and motivated by the love the fans have shown me on this channel. I have been blown away with how the channel has been taken off. Please keep me posted on your aviation success! Have a great New Year!
Appreciate your direct and honest discussion of what it took to upgrade and maintain your plane. Also like that you are involving your family. Good Luck with your channel, looking forward to future videos
Most certainly Mike Stemig. I'm here to try to help our General Aviation community as much as I possibly can. I think life would be a bit dull and boring without my family so I do make a point to involve them in every aspect of my life. Actually, they are my life :-). Thanks for your wonderful words of inspiration Mike. May God bless you and keep you and your family safe!
Greatly enjoyed your video! I have heard the conversion to glass is around $40k, but you’re the first to have gone into great detail with multiple quotes. You picked up a subscriber! Thanks again!
Thanks Bruce and welcome! Thanks for watching and thanks for letting me know that you enjoyed the video. My main reason for sharing multiple quotes was to let people know to take their time and shop around. Had I gone with the first quote for everything I wanted I would have paid 20-25k by going with a different brand and/or a different shop.
Getting multiple quotes is always a great idea. What I liked about your video is you knew what you wanted and you had great sense as to which components were overpriced. Very well done! I expect to watch many of your videos over time.
I just stumbled across your channel, as I am trying to do my research for joining the airplane ownership club. I have enjoyed watching your videos and am finding them very helpful. Thank you for sharing your journey and experiences.
Welcome aboard Ricardo and thank you for watching and for your inspiring comment. Please keep in touch and keep me posted on your research status. Thank you again and have a great day!
Just starting to prep to get my license... owning a plane is a bucket list item and the info here is really great to help set my expectations! Feels like I could buy a boat, beach house, or a plane for roughly the same amount. Money for reach and flexibility goes to the plane hands down!
Congratulations on your journey towards your license. I totally agree with you. Airplane ownership is pretty awesome and adventurous. Best wishes to you!
Very nice ! I believe you are helping a lot of owners with their decision(s) on what equipment to buy as well as its placement. You have done a lot of homework that will save others the time and headache. Enjoying you channel, seeing your family outings & adventures. Scott KLZU.
Thanks Scott! I really hope to help others. That’s my absolute purpose for this channel. To help and to inspire others to make decisions. But, as it turns out, the amount of positive fans and incredible comments inspire me as well. Have an awesome New Year Scott!
Thanks for posting this video. I watched it last night, and am now going back to it today for another watch after finding an interesting project cherokee.
Very interesting video my friend thanks for sharing. Something I’ve always been interested in but must admit it’s some of the expensive unexpected costs that have put me off but found this really useful. All the best and fly safe, Paul
Hello Paul, It can most definitely get expensive really fast. But properly managed, it can be doable. It is also one of the best ways I have rewarded myself, my family, and friends. I thank you for watching and for your comment. One of the best things I enjoy making these videos is connecting with others. Take care and stay safe!
Beautifully done. Quick update: Having dinner with my pilot friend who flies for UPS Cargo and is a CFI..... chances are, he'll work with me on my PPL! I'll be coming back to this video when I'm ready for my rebuild! All the best!
Thanks a lot my friend! Becoming a pilot is a life changing experience and I am extremely happy for your decision to go forward with your PPL. Please keep me posted on your progress 😀
Thanks Robert! I had several requests on cost from the last video so I figured I could help with having some idea of the cost factor. I hope you have a safe and cheerful New Year!
Thank you Michael...I did the video because I had wished I had seen something like this when I was searching. So I hope to give others a general idea of true costs.
Excellent video, very informative. Seems like the autopilot is an excellent investment because it reduces task load and if you get into unexpected IMC, could be a lifesaver!
Ed, you have no idea LOL. That autopilot is a great to have. I don't get as fatigued as I used to before. Thanks the wonderful comments as always Ed! Have a great day!
Great information Raul. Again, i enjoy your videos very much. You do a great job of detailing your flights. I wrote earlier about the avionics upgrade. Right now my Cherokee is getting a new interior installed, so once i get Judy Cherokee back, i will think about the avionics. As much as i would love to have the Dynon system, i will most likely have to go an alternative method until the time i can fund the big upgrade. I am thinking about two uavionix av-30s for the time being. These will provide round gauge EFIS and will eliminate the vacuum pump. Keep up the good work!
Thanks again Bill, you and about three others was the reason for this video. It makes me feel really good that you all have been incredibly supporting. Where did you decide to get your interior? And trust me, I feel the pain! I wanted to get new avionics since around 2014 but I kept pushing it back. I'm glad I did because competition made everything more manageable with pricing and options. Such as options like what you are considering (uavionix av-30,s). Those are pretty sleek. I like flying IFR and that vacuum pump was a major concern for me. Take care my great friend and I always appreciate your interaction!
Very informative video, buying a plane is something I keep coming back every so often and this particular time I started looking at the 32R so having an idea of what it would cost to upgrade one is a big help.
Ranger, you have no idea how long I had that buying thought in the back of my mind. It was like living inside a dream when it happened! If you do please let me know so I can congratulate you my friend!
@@FlyingDirty Unfortunately with everything that is going on right now and other financial commitments coming on the horizon, namely looking at buying a house, I think it is still gonna be a ways off. Maybe in a year or so when Im getting close to 1500 and needing to get in those last hours for ATP would I look more seriously at buying. Granted found a fantastic Lance that had just about everything save for a 3 blade prop, its just trying to justify the $150K price tag is a little much right now.
Back on my younger days, (1981-82) I flew a Cherokee 6/300 flying cancelled bank checks around. What a wonderful airplane, and superb payload. Probably that instrument upgrade gave you a few more pounds of payload. I noticed wind information when you showed the AOA. And also, noticed the different power quadrant, which is better than the typical Piper levers, as it frees up space to operate the electronics. Yeah, some of those quotes were just highway robbery. The engine instrumentation is awesome. Your Cherokee 6 is an older model since its missing the smaller 4th window after the doors, but looks awesome. Great job. Nice looking family.
Hi Mo, It's amazing that you can make a living by flying around cancelled bank checks. Who would have thought? But it sounds pretty cool! The payload did increase by around 30 lbs. And yes, that back door would have been great but the ones available at the time were not worth it. They were beat up pretty bad! Thanks and have a great day!

John, thanks and welcome to the channel my friend. When I make these type of informative videos I normally go by a script. I am working on another video which will be more specific to purchasing an airplane. That one is still about a month out but please stay tuned for it. It's really hard to beat the price and quality of the Dynon products. I was watching the youtube channel "Glen's hangar" where he restored a 1961 Cessna 172 and replaced the old sixpack gauges with Dynon products and it looked to be a pretty straight forward install with great customer support.
I have done a lot of research on many products, including gps units, and Garmin is way overrated. It does not mount up in user experience and customization. The Dynon and IFD gps units going totally hybrid as opposed to 100% touchscreen is jut one example of how some of these other companies care about the customer experience. Garmin only seems to care about ripping people off 😀. I really don’t get how folks have been so brainwashed by them. On the other hand, compatibility goes to Garmin but they are trying to do away with legacy compatibility also.
Thinking about doing a full upgrade on my PA28-180 since I know it flies well (been using it for training toward getting my PPL) and the market is pretty bare for a used plane with nice avionics and air conditioning. I'm in Texas and hopefully I can find a good shop to handle avionics, probably another place to restore the AC (was previously installed and removed many years ago), get an autopilot (currently there but inoperative) and then do a bunch of cosmetic stuff like some interior upgrades and a full repaint.
Hey man! I see you’re flying from KRVS! This is where I did my private, instrument and commercial (working on CFI) out of! I’d love to meet up sometime and go flying or see your plane!
Good morning Marshall Thomas, I have not landed at KRVS yet but I do make your neighboring KTUL an often stop when I fly down to Florida and back. I wish you success with your CFI and hopefully we can meet up next time I stop in your area. Thanks for reaching out and let's stay in touch! Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Thank you very much for that! I think they did a really nice job and I enjoy flying the airplane more (especially on long Xcountry flights with the A/P).

I'm in Texas and hopefully I can find a good shop to handle avionics, probably another place to restore the AC (was previously installed and removed many years ago), get an autopilot (currently there but inoperative) and then do a bunch of cosmetic stuff like some interior upgrades and a full repaint.
Best wishes to you. Keep me posted on your progress!
cool !!! thanks for sharing
My pleasure Roger! 😀
Very informative!
Thanks a lot Stephen!
Been waiting on a new video! Glad to see you gained some more subscribers! Good video!
Hi Chris, it’s always great to hear from one of the premier members. The fan support is amazing Chris and I hope to be a positive contributor to our aviation community. Happy Holidays my friend!
Really digging the dash layout.
Thank you very much for that! I think they did a really nice job and I enjoy flying the airplane more (especially on long Xcountry flights with the A/P).
@@FlyingDirty I can imagine it does make it much simpler. It does remind me of the acrylic dash panels in the boating industry, Including the A/P function.
awesome video!!
Thanks for the visit and the comment Johnny! 😀
You get a quote from Braggs Avionics, Jacksonville FL, Tommy is a great person to deal with and the prices are competitive.
I'll keep them in mind for any future projects.
Excellent video.. Thanks for the info! ¡Suerte!
Thank you Frank! Saludos!
