I'm from North east Ohio, and I have just gotten interested in coyote and raccoon hunting. I am taking things very seriously, and trying to learn everything I can. I bought a .243 Winchester and mounted a DNT Zulus on it. I plan on making 250 yard shots max. I also have a thermal monocular for spotting them, it's an AGM Taipan 15mm 256x. If anyone has anymore tips, please help me out, I am trying to learn everything.
Team work is key for contests. Doesn’t matter who shoots. If you win, everyone gets a check. Be quick to sit down at a stand. Be picking out a spot to sit as you’re walking up to a stand. Who shoots left handed, who is running the shotgun. Pick your spot accordingly but quickly. We try our best for time management but the wind always has a different idea. We hunt some big country and the wind may switch 4-5 times. You drive up to a stand and as soon as you sit down the wind is at your back, so now you have to do something else. Time wasted. And I know, check your weather, well it’s not always right. What Wade mentioned about time limits is absolutely correct, and the hardest thing to do. Don’t take it personal. Don’t try to MAKE coyotes come in. If you spend 20 minutes on a stand for nothing, that’s a ten minute stand you won’t get to make they may have yielded a coyote. But you know what. Some days coyotes are lazy and a 15 minute stand may have yield 2 coyotes. It’s a damn guessing game. Do the best you can and be efficient
I suck at predator hunting. No “contests” here in the Mountains of VA. I’ve called in some coyotes but never taken one. Don’t really have any good spots to hunt them. My private property is a thicket. Planning to try some national forest hunts soon. I still enjoy watching this channel though.
I am also from a place! I like to predator hunt too! I Use my gun and it shoots bullets that are a size that's good for predators. My gun has an optical zoom magnifier scope and it's colored in super shadow mountian desert sage sniper camouflage. I will use it soon on a hunt in place by where I live! Hail ya!! I enjoy the podcast not only for its great content but also for the Sarcasm and blatant honesty. Smoke a whole pack Yall!!
To the point. Good one Wade. If anybody dissagrees they probably havent cashed a check
