The best thing you can do is build your own muscle car. After knowing someone who owned a GMC Syclone (4.6L turbocharged V6 truck) I decided to do it right. Using a really nice rust free 1983 S10 standard cab 2 wheel drive short bed, I ripped it apart, tossed the 2.8L V6, crappy 5 speed transmission, and just as crappy open rear end, built a carbureted 383ci 420hp V8 for it, had a Muncie M21 4 speed transmission and Ford 8.8" Trac Lok rear end built for it, upgraded the suspension and brakes, put 225/70-14 BFG Radial T/As on 14x6 wheels in the front and 275/60-15 BFG Radial T/As on 15x8 wheels in the rear, had a true dual exhaust custom made, put a cowl hood on it, and had it custom painted with racing stripes. I also completely redid the interior. It not only outruns the GMC Syclone and Buick Grand National by a wide margin, it also outruns EVERY stock 1960s/1970s muscle car. Because of its age, I was able to insure it as a collector vehicle, so it doesn't have to meet any emissions standards. IT HAS NO COMPUTERS. If you want to avoid having to insure it as a collector car, use a vehicle from 1967 or older. I like trucks because they are so easy to work on, and are built a lot stronger than cars. I also like the higher seat and roof. You can pretty much build a muscle car out of anything from the '80s back, that will be faster than any stock muscle car. For a WHOLE LOT LESS.

Your video is not very accurate. Some of the cars that you profiled where not meant to be muscle cars whatsoever, just sporty trim cars. By the year 1969 the end of the performance era was insight. Back in the 1960s, you could order a basic trim level car (taxi cab trim) and order the most powerful engine with stiff suspension, on some cars. By the way, the auto news media calls fast cars "Muscle Cars", I hate that term. The correct name should be "High Performance Automobile". Please reply. Dave...

It's a good list, but there are a few bugs to be worked out. The 69 GTO Judge was the top of the line edtion, and one of the BEST muscle cars. The Tempest model does not resemble the LeMans, or the next level GTO, so that was the wrong picture. Also, the last on the list: the 69 AMC Javelin was one of the BEST muscle cars, not one of the worst.
