When I was younger I would listen to this cd every night to help me sleep and I could recite the lines off the top of my head even now but I stopped listening to it years ago and remembered it a few days ago and couldn’t find it and I almost cried and I just want to thank you so much for making my life complete
No problem. I'm glad to bring so many people back to Memory Lane. 🙂
It seems we all lived the same childhood lol
I’m the same this unlocked my childhood memories I was so sad when I thought I couldn’t fine it but I want to keep them for when I have kids for them to listen to them too thank you for unlocking the memories :)
Likewise and my mother used to get tired of it too!
Same 🥰
The Grandma in this version is excellent! :) I got this for Christmas when I was about 8. I vividly remember listening to it at bedtime on Christmas night, with the tape player between mine and my sister's rooms. We both laughed all the way through, and it still makes me smile now.
Rowena Cooper did a wonderful job as Grandma, yes. I'm glad to restore some nostalgia. 🙂
@@foxteen8721 I love the cd tape thank you
I use to listen to this CD to go to sleep and now I listen to the video to help me sleep
listened to this every night as a kid, so many memories flooding back
IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THESE RECORDINGS THANK U
Never have I enjoyed nostalgia in a long time thanks for this
Any time. 🙂
my grandad collected this whole collection of cds for me from the mirror newspaper. This was my absolute favourite of them all. Thank you so much for this upload, brings back happy memories of listening to this on repeat for hours while playing with my Lego (sets he also collected from the mirror newspaper for me) in my bedroom as a child.
This is my childhood. I remember listening to this when i were really young. I can even remember the music off by heart. Nostalgia at its finest.
Same, I was just singing it to my wife and that’s what made me search it to see if I could find it. 😂
I’ve been trying to find this for years! Thank you for uploading! I was obsessed with this version as a small child!
Thank youuu 🙏🏼🙏🏼 lost some of mine from the free daily mail versions I collected as a kid ! You’re my little saviour of memories ❤️
I'm glad I could do so. Ironically, that's how I found these. In my drama teacher's classroom above a steer system from the Daily Mail. Then I collected the CDs.
@foxteen8721 I’m glad you made a playlist for all of the dramatizations of Roald Dahl’s books! I remember when I was in middle school around 2000’s when I was only a little boy, while in one of my classes in middle school, and my teacher had a movie tie-in copy of TimBurton’s film adaptation of Charlie and the Factory. Which was my gateway entry into Roald Dahl’s whimsy. Which also inspired me to become a writer similar to Roald Dahl, Neil Gaiman, R.L. Stine, James Howe, Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, and Henry Selick!!
I’ve been searching for this specific song for literal years 😂
This brings back memories I remember listening to this in the car on my way to grandmas lol
Hopefully your grandmother was more bearable than George's. 😁
@@foxteen8721 na she was worse than georges
@@elliotraw1170 Oh dear. Sorry to learn that.
If they ever adapt this into a movie they should cast Julie Walters as the Grandma
Now there's an accurate choice!
They've done nearly every other children's book of his including Esio Trot. About time George got his day on the big screen. Or the small screen if they go for a TV movie instead. think 'Giraffe, the Pelly and Me' or 'the enormous crocodile' could get adapted?
In medicine 2,George forget to put in the spices he found in the kitchen.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!I enjoyed every single second!!!!thanks for uploading. It must have been a lot of work to make this audio drama.
I just happened apon this little jewel. Hilarious! I'm a nice grandma but I think it might scare me a little to let my great granddaughter who is 4 listen to this. I haven't gotten to the end yet so maybe the grandma gets nicer. Lol
She didn't turn nicer, she disappeared.
I used to love listening to these dramatized audio books when I was younger!
The bit where the grandma scares George traumatized me the first time I heard it 😂
Ahhh, I had this on casette tape when I was a lad. Ironically, I woke up one night feeling ill and accidentally threw up on a load of my tapes, this included. Glad somebody's uploaded it here!
What a throwback - so happy you uploaded
This cassette was always a novelty for me, as it was the only dramatisation of a Roald Dahl book I owned, all the others were simple narrations of the books.
Another one I never had when I was little. I did have another version of it but not dramatized. The man was mad! A genius though. I can't help but reflect on the serious dark streak that ran through so much of his work. I think as adults it calls to our attention that there are demons lurking along the winding paths of that idylic child's garden. Sometimes it's more of a jungle in disguise.
Oh yes, Roald Dahl's storytelling was mad in a way that changed the world of storytelling. Colourful stories with harrowing details of what happens to children when they are greedy like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and that kids have as much power as grown ups like Matilda and George's Marvellous Medicine. You make a relevant point about lurking demons where The Witches is concerned, even The Enormous Crocodile.
Yep there are demons all over this idyllic child's garden. And the children in that garden know how to fight them
I feel sorry for George's mum! 😂😂😂 the poor woman is caught up in the madness of the sotuation!
Absolutely love this version, so so much :))))
I think what sold the medicine making was the advert singers. Very clever creation instead of George simply reading every label.
Giving some of the ingredients jingles is a nice touch and kudos for getting an actual child to voice George. But the whole thing is messy in terms of which products have jingles, pacing, the narrator's role and sound effects.
Now... Rik Mayall's performance on Jackanory, that was a reading of George's Marvellous Medicine!
Thanks so much for uploading these. I've grown up listening to Roald Dahl. Do you have the twits or esiotrot?
Anytime. Unfortunately, I don't. My uploads are the entire collection. I wish they dramatised all his stories.
They definitely did a ‘The Twits’ Simon Callow read it. On the hunt for it.. it’s somewhere in the house
Such a great story! I remember this dramatisation very well. Thank you. I wonder who all the cast actors are in this? They are so amazing at acting. Especially the grandma.
It’s alright. I miss the description when I first found this book. I know who the cast are now I must say, I absolutely love all the different advertisements for all the ingredients that get picked for the medicine. It is so funny.
She's a mean Grandma isn't she.
Oh yes. I'm sure glad she isn't mine.
She’s just goin’ through trauma
Yes she is she’s very spooky
@@laurajean9238 She was? 🤨
@@joshcoyle3804 I don't think "spooky" is a right word to describe the grandma.
I still say a key part of the original recipe was the whole bottle of gin. I'm sure that's one of the few things left that they forgot to put in in medicines 2, 3, and 4.
There's a thought. I always thought it was his mother's powder puff.
@@foxteen8721 that probably helped as well
Oh god the memories
Can i still buy the cd’s. I used to have them as a kid and listen to them to sleep. I had a whole collection of them
Most likely, though I think they might be limited. Try eBay.
“Mother, Mother, Mother!”

I lisen to your books

The song is hot

His grandma does not love him she’s very rude to him
Yeah. We know. 😕
Imagine what she was like to her own daughter when she was growing up.
Grandma is absolutely horrible.
