This is a darling story, I absolutely love it!
Being a tortoise-lover from Childhood, when I spied and rescued a tiny-one as it teetered along the edge of a curb, I’ve been smitten with their sweet and gentle natures.
…I had to return My darling ‘Boxy’ to the Man who’d raised her, when We finally discovered who he was, and have missed her ever-since.
(Maybe someday, I’ll be blessed with Another tortoise Friend!)

the movie is fabulous as well it has Judi Dench as Mrs Silver and Dustin Hoffman as Mr Hoppy . the screenplay is different but just as heartwarming

I am in horror. How can anyone think this deception is okay? To swap out a beloved pet isn't okay at all. Just because she didn't notice is no excuse. Imagine how she would feel if she ever learned of the trick, and what that would do to her perception of her husband. This is a horrible story.
P.S. Your reading voice is lovely, and I very much enjoy hearing you read nice books. I'm just sorry this one turned out to be so bad.
