The book is so surreal compared to the first book. It went from a storybook happy ending to a sci fi adventure.

I have a question that puzzles me. Why is it that in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory his grandparents,(in the beginning paragraphs of chapter two) are all in their nineties. And in the beginning of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, it is reiterated that the grandparents are in their nineties. But near the end of The Great Glass Elevator, when Mr. Works wants to give the grandparents his Son ladies all of a sudden, they are only around eighty years old?

Unless you listen to (or read) both Charlie and the chocolate factory and Charlie and the great glass elevator back to back, you will never figure out that the ompaloompas are extraterrestrials. In the chocolate factory, Vermicious Knids are listed as one of the 3 main predators of Ompaloompas. And in this book, the Vermicious Knids are shown to be extraterrestrial predators that can't reach Earth. Therefore, for Vermicious Knids to prey on Ompaloompas, the Ompaloompas original home CAN'T POSSIBLY be on EARTH.

I thought this was an alright sequel. The scenes with the president are pretty funny and the space hotel is very creative. But you’d think being a sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it would be about Wonka teaching Charlie how to run the factory. Dahl was planning to write a third book but that never happened. Also because he hate 1971 adaptation, his will states no one can adapt this book.

Why is the president of the United States in this book called Gilligrass and not Richard Nixon if the story took place in 1972 when it was first published? And no intergalactic starliner space hotel has ever been launched before in the space program's history either, so it would make sense for this story to be set in the future instead.
I think Roald Dahl should consider doing his own research before he drops his imagination into the story. Nonetheless, I love this book and its clever writing hands down. It has to be my favorite of his works and makes a good sequel, even though I can be critical sometimes whenever I spot inaccuracies.
