- NOT Derek Griffiths, as was mis-labelled by the publishers. (Shame on you) I personally feel this is the best reading of Roald Dahl's classic. Not to put a sniff on Richard E Grants version or Rik Mayall's. I grew up on this version, and it disappeared into the catacombs of time, into obscurity! I found the tape online, captured it, ran it through my sound pal to do a basic clean and here it is! May it never go missing ever again.
OMG I remember reading this to my mom back when it had first been published. Mom was the 'lower school' librarian and always had a stack of books to go through over summer. I began reading- we were in the kitchen and she was cooking dinner. It wasn't long before we were laughing so hard I couldn't actually read and we were practically peeing our pants! Sure do miss her.
Thanks for the memories!
I've been looking for this for over 20 years. Thanks so much for uploading it.
Honestly, my pleasure. It was hiding right under our noses. Publishers credited Derek Griffiths, not Richard.
Me too! Thank you so much!
Me too! I couldn’t figure out it if it was dumbledore or Dursley that narrated it!
20 years? So glad you finally found it! 😊
It's Vernon
OMG!!!!! I have been looking for this for 20 years! I had this as a kid, got given it just one ordinary day on cassette. I absolutely loved it. thank you so so much!
Glad I could help!
My heart, I'm CRYING! I've been searching high and low for years, I even hum the tune to myself every so often and wonder where my well loved tape went. I've been looking in every nook and cranny of the internet for a recording and admittedly, forgot about it. Until today, on World Book Day, I saw a child, dressed as Grandma, which reminded me to look again.
And here it is.
A treasure of my childhood. I'm going to get lost in nostalgia and listen to this tonight.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! 🥹
Aw, no problem. I was the same. You can thank my Mum. She found the audio tape online, which was credited Derek Griffiths (not Richard). I did the basic analogue transfer and a friend did a generic digital cleanup. I couldn’t believe it had been overlooked for so long. Classic interpretation.
The grand mer is so rude
I never knew this existed so thank you. The voices are so fittingly brilliant.
Thanks so much for this. I had this recording on cassette as a kid, and I agree it's the best reading of George. I'm so pleased to hear it again!
Really my pleasure. Thanks for watching.
I've been looking for this for 30 years! Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Thank you for uploading this recording of George's Marvelous Medicine, it really brings back memories.
One fond memory I have of this is that I used to press fast-forward on the tape player and the intro music was so funny, even thinking about it really cracks me up 😂🤣
Agree. This was a fantastic audio version of the book. My sister and I would do the washing and wiping up when we were little. This would be put on in the background to make the task more bearable. Thanks for the upload.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Holy balls, I've been searching so long to find this version!! Tremendous!!
Thank you so much OMG I have I child, she can’t get to sleep so I tried this! It was amazing! She got to sleep in the end!😅😅😅🎉🎉
She’s 4 years old I really love her❤❤❤ 12:13
Thank you so much! Unlocked a core 90s memory ❤
A pleasure. It was only a matter of time before someone took the initiative. These snippets of gratitude make me feel thankful it meant so much to others too.
I absolutely enjoyed every bit! Thank you!
So glad!
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome!
Fantastic ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Rest in peace the legend
OMG THANK YOU
Brilliant 👏
Cheers 😊
Kind of cool to listen to a Roald Dahl story read by Vernon Dursley himself
The best reading imho

Writing for children, Roald Dahl thankfully didn't give a gobsmacking willido to be a whigging wimp. He conjures up scenes vividly ... wickedly ... delightfully. And the kids love that. Dunno why the pain in the buttocks sitting on high and mighty seats are so obstinately blinkered -- mealy mouthing: "Ohhh... please...they are children after all."
1:22 is the end
1:22: 58 is the end😊
👍
I’m not trynna have a dead body on my hands… also him adds dish soap and hair removal 😅
Ha, ikr. As an adult I picked up on this quickly. As a child I revered his acknowledgement of not wanting to bump her off. Dunno bout you but "Quantum of Solace" where Bond gives him a carton of engine oil to chug and end his life quickly instead of walking through the blistering heat and then hearing about George putting this and equally poisonous stuff in his concoction including animal medicines - ha. Book should come out with a disclaimer like cigarette packages.
@@timlimon5175 The book I had as a kid had a warning not to try making it at home.
@@timlimon5175 the audiobook I listened to pretty much said in the beginning to not to try making this medicine 😂
Garlic rosemary and salt.
