Amazing how much Steve knows about each component's contribution to the amplifier's sound. The first time I heard one of his amps I said to myself, oh I've got to have one of those. Of my three personal rigs my favorite is, a VHT Deliverance 120 half stack with a basic pedal-board on the front end.
Man Warren, when you started fiddling with that amp, at first I heard Queen. Then in a blink I heard "Breakin the Rules" by AC/DC. Those are some of my favorite amps introduced to me by David Gilmour in the 70's. Good stuff as usual brutha!
Many moons ago I had a green, VHT Pitbull 45 2x10 combo. One of the amps I most regret selling. Such a versatile and great sounding amp that was kind of its own thing.
Hi Warren, first of all thanks for doing a lot of guitar related stuff!!! My favorite guitar rig is Peavey Classic 50 together with my Delta Blues and a Dynacord REX. Also my Epiphone SolCat 50 with my Hughes & Kettner 4x12 cabs
Honestly -- I'm not sure if it's because of the Lav mic, but when you were playing the tones were, um,...not good. Lol....I actually think I'm being nice when I say "not good". I owned a Pittbull CLX back in the day for awhile -- cool sounding amp, unique for sure.
Hi everybody, this recorded sound is not totally indicative of the sound of fryette amps... not sure what is happening in this recording. Please watch some of Fryette's Malcontents on RUclips!!!
I was looking online and I saw a lot of reference to 'heavily modified Hiwatt's'. There's talk about him changing the input to get a lot more drive from it. Which makes sense considering Hiwatt's are world renown for their very, very clean tone and Live At Leeds is not that at all.
What's your favourite guitar rig? Share below!
I'm using the TONEX and loving it. A lot easier on me back, too!
Brilliant product from IK, indeed!
I run stereo Fryette’s all the time. I have a D60, and SigX. I am a HUGE Fryette fan. Steve is a genius.
Any type of Plexi circuit, as long as the cab is in another room. Throw some type of echoplex preamp in front and it’s almost better than sex.
VHT Pittbull 50/CL EQ with P50E impulse responses, combined CU22 with BK Rebel Yell or SC245 with the old 58/15. Sounds amazing.

That analogy at the start is BRILLIANT! Thanks for the tour. Great company
You bet! Thanks, Lee.
Fantastic sounding gear and good looking workshop. That's a man who loves his amps and his work. Thanks very much
Glad you enjoy it!
great to see people still making amps. rock-on!
Absolutely! Thanks ever so much for the great comment!

Wow! Thanks ever so much! Those are wonderful references!
I’m hearing some Humble Pie at the Fillmore in the Sound City reissue. Instant Classic tones !

Wow that combo was crazy cool! I wish we got to hear it... Im going to look up some videos.
Enjoy! Thanks for watching
This was a fabulous visit and discussion... and of course, we need to hear the sound of that cream amp!
Thanks ever so much David!
I still own a VHT Pittbull head and a VHT Super 30 combo. Amazing amps. Built like tanks. Both around 20 years old.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!!
PS2A is a fantastic piece of gear
Marvellous!
Visiting these great builders, I think you need a six string with you at all times.
Agreed 100%!
Wow, I just learned something very useful about IR and Analog cab sims. Cool.
Glad it was helpful!
Great amps! Still have the same Chinese preamp tubes that came with my '90's era Pittbull CLX. Def a very clear and unforgiving amp. 🤘🤘🤘
Great to hear!

Mesa Triple Rectifier with a couple of stompboxes into a Mesa oversized 4x12 + a JC120.
Basically the most stereotypical 90ies rig you can get.
HUGE sound! Fantastic

Synergy SLO and IICP into a Mesa 2:Ninety Power Amp with Marshall 4x12 cabs loaded with Greenbacks.
Heard many great things about the Soldano Synergy SLO. Must try it out! Thanks for sharing.
Let’s hear the Aether!! :0
Loved that in depth look - you‘re both bright lights in the industry.
Are they still based in Hollywood?
Yes, they are based in LA
@@Producelikeapro thanks mate!
I've actually recorded that exact amp that he was talking about with David Torn!!
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing
What ever they used on The Dickies version of Paranoid.
Marvellous!
While obviously not a good representation recording wise, you can tell that Master One Hundred is a beast of an amp.
For months I've been trying so hard to resist buying a Fryette Power Station. Warren, you're not helping ;)
Not sorry!

Great interview! However hes wrong about The Who Live at Leeds. They definitely used Hiwatts by then, they stopped using the Sound Citys by 1969.
