Tons of video on this delta 4000...BUT you explain this review the BEST...

On your's and other reviews, I decided to start with the Delta 4000.
I immediately assembled it and ,true to your word, it reacted to EMF of the parking lights.
I eliminated the iron, and it settled down, but not completely.
It didn't stop chirping though when, at the empty acreage next to the store, I "gave it a go."
Again, eliminated iron, it still chirped.
My first find was a piece of tin :-D
But it wouldn't stop chirping. I adjusted the settings, eliminated foil and below, and it still chirped.
Later, I threw a penny on the ground, and the 4000 went nuts trying to decide if it was a penny, dime, or quarter (it FINALLY decided it wasn't a half-dollar. ) Then it ignored the find.
Additionally, I discovered the "rocks" were actually crumbled cement with pencil-lead sized steel. So I moved half-an-acre away and that took care of that. But then natural (hand-held) rocks (stream pebbles/rocks) were sounding it off too.
So I stuck with pennies, quarters and the pin-point wand I got with it. The damn thing registered a depth of 8 inches on a penny that was right there LOS. Then once it found it (and not deciding what it was) it just shut-up and repeatedly ignored the find; silence as I was waving right over the penny.
I don't get it. The acreage didn't have any electronics around it and no cell-towers/powerlines were LOS. (Phone in pocket.)
So what do I do to get the solid readings you get?

I found one of these metal detectors in the trash at Dicks Sporting Goods.Nothing was wrong with it other than it being a returned item.I turned around and sold it for $195.

Good video. I would point out that "reflectivity" has nothing to do with metal detectors, they don't work like radar. Best of luck with your detecting.

If you hunt parks with the delta do yourself a huge favor and buy the 5" coil. It will pull coins out of trash like you wouldn't believe! I've had my delta for quite a few years and love the machine. A tip - if you get a questionable signal in discrimination, put it in all metal and you will get a more accurate vdi. Also, use the pinpointer to gauge the size of the target. That's very useful for determining if it's a coin or not.

You mention "false signals". I live in San Diego and the sand in our beaches is highly mineralized. Q: Would the Delta 4000 be difficult to hunt in that environment or would simple adjustments make it alright? thanks! :)
Sylvia Catalano I own a Teknetics Delta 4000 myself and I live in Florida.I could take it down to the beach but I'd have to turn the sensitivity to the lowest setting.In my opinion it's not the ideal surf detector.Now on dry sand it's a champ and it will go deep.I'm selling mine for $125 and it comes with box too.

Just bought one. Lightweight, but will give you stiff arm until you are used to the workout. It doesn't even weigh a half-pound. I would guess a quarter pound.
I looked in the manual for your question, and if it is in there, I didn't find it.
Thanks, Capie44!! That sounds pretty light! KellyCo website says this machine weighs 6.5 lbs. I called them up and told that THAT didn't sound right. Hope they updated it! lol
