This show always brought a smile to me. The characters, actors, and the beauty. I agree if I won the lotto I would restore and open it for all the fans and followers. I would live somewhere on the grounds to take it all in and of course greet as many visitors as I could with two dobes…..Zues and Apolla :):) Great memories from a great show.
Thanks for sharing it's been a while since my last visit. Breaks my heart that such a beautiful place hasn't been taken care of. I noticed in the real estate listing that there were no pictures of the house.
@Aki Ami Masen The whole place was abandoned for decades, so the entire house was rotten to the core so not worth to fix. And it was old, because it was built in 1933 so again, not worth to fix it. And it was only used for shots outside, and the indoor shots were made in a studio, and do not represent the real interior. And i don't believe that there wil be a hotel or apartments on that property, because i'm sure that the neighbours would complain that tourist could look into their property and violate their privacy rights. And the location isn't also suitable for tourist, because it's far away from populated areas and the road isn't suitable for alot of traffic going and coming from that location, so i'm sure a new luxury home wil be built on it.
@Aki Ami Masen No, sir. You are wrong. The property has been abandoned and totally neglected to YEARS! So someone probably bought it to do something with it. If you research past pics and video's you will see it true! VERY FREAKING SAD, but true!
Visited the tide pool this month. It was incredibly hard to reach. The beach and sand that was there in this 3013 video are gone. Lots of construction as well. Heard there 3 houses being built on the lot. Sad to see history be thrown out. I also would have loved it if the house had become a museum. Good bye robins nest! 😢
I was just there November 5th and 6th. Sad condition, but what memories. I have said for years, if I ever hit a big lottery, I'd buy "Robin's Nest". Then I'd open it for tours so all the fans could walk those beautiful grounds. Boat house (Magnums place) is really bad , but the grounds and house look like somebody is working on it.
oh .... seeing it in such disprepair makes my heart sink ... I hope whoever has the honor to hold the deed also steps up to the plate and returns it to the glory & glamour that it once was in its "hay-day" back on Magnum P.i.
When I first saw Magnum PI, it reminded me of the area where the Shriners used to meet. I also laugh at Hawaii Five O, when a scene appeared to be on one side of the island and the next scene appeared on the other side of the island , but which was depicted on the show as a mile between the two scenes.
At google maps the satellite overhead image and the street level images Indicate its really a small property. the TV show makes the property seem larger than it is.
Yeah its 200 acres in the show but only 3 acres in reality. Its that imaginary part of movies and TV that keeps it interesting though :-) magnum-mania.com/Articles/Robins_Nest.html
robins nest was the first place i went in 2003 after checking in the hotel I climbed the front wall (draped by blacked privacy netting)and took pics of the grounds then went to swim in the tidal pool about 6 foot deep in the deepest part the concrete square thing in the water was really slipppery I also sat on the wall where they filmed alot of scenes -Macs back and many other episodes -it was really fun to be there the Islands are amazing I took pics with 35 mm but i dont have them on computer Id have to take pics of them to post them-if you ever go to the island make sure you go there and the jump rock in waimea bay
TY for sharing this video, I am also a huge Magnum PI fan and it took me 3 trips to Ohau until I finally found the right gate of Robin´s Nest. However never made it from the sea, tide had been always too high. I think there should be Magnum PI tours for us fans!
For those unaware, that island is "Rabbit Island" as it looks like a crouching rabbit from the other side. I passed this house for 4 years 1975-79 when driving the circumference of Oahu while stationed there in the Navy. Didn't know it was one of Jack Lord's places (he had several on Oahu and other islands). The homes are not all that well built and it's rarer that you own the land, mostly leased for 99 years from the Bishop Estate (Bishop was married to a royal Princess of the Hawaiian lineage). he and Dole (pineapple) undermined the Royal House and allowed the US to "invade" and placed the Queen, Liliukalani under house arrest and made Hawaii a territory in the 1890's. Hawaii was stolen from the Hawaiians, but that Bishop Trust has managed to keep most of the land away from private ownership. You can rent/lease and rarely buy, but can under Fee Simple policy, meaning about 1 million $$$$.
CBS should offer a stupid amount of money to buy this and turn it into a Magnum museum! Better yet, we should do a Kickstarter fund raising. I bet we could get enough fans to pony up and offer Eve Anderson an offer she won't pass up...
@AcidbrainwashEffect no..absolutely not been the eve anderson trust...her grandparents built it in 1933..she was the owner for many many decades..never lord or spelling..never..in later years property was owned by and eventually sold by the eve anderson trust to Marty Nesbitt..
i saw another vid of someone trespassing like this guy did, and there was a peacock near the human gate that magnum picked in season 1 epis 1. to ward off trespassers like these folk. Damn shame there was no tour of the place by the magnum staff themselves.
Drove past the "Robin's Nest" estate in Waimanalo a few days ago...looks like the new owners are tearing down some of the old buildings there. Rather sad as "Magnum PI" was part of TV history.
Its ashame noone kept it up and did tours and overnight stays for enough $ to keep the place always next to perfect. Shows you what a couple of bad storms can do over the years to tear a place up. Must admit if I go there Id like to go swimming in the tidal pool once like Magnum used to do everymorning. (On the show) It helped his shoulder which dont forget had been shot. Someone else has bought the property now and is changing it up major compared to how it sat for years. Gives you the sense that if the right major domo like Higgins had kept it it would still be paradise. But Magnum once told Luther Gillis PI that paradise wasnt a place, it was a state of mind 😂🎉

I just watched the episode where he’s hiding behind the square rock 🪨 in the tide pool protecting the girl from gunfire that’s a awesome piece of rock I wonder if it was cut and placed there to hang out on 🌴🌴
Thank you for the wonderful video of Waimanalo, cigarman. It DOES bring back memories of our visit in 2012. My husband and I hope to return to Oahu the winter of 2015. We would like to visit Varadero with a side trip to Havana this upcoming winter, as we have been to other areas of Cuba but not Varadero. It looks like the sand has come back a bit and it looks better. Hopefully the house and grounds will be fixed up in time.
The house has been torn down and is currently a devastated wreck. Evidently, the property is worth a lot more with a new mansion rather than the rather understated old house.
Gosh it looks much worse than the last time I visited there. I think it was around 2012. But now it looks really bad. The trees look so thin and everything looks dead. Gosh, I hope the new owner does some work to get it restored.
