Thats it.
@@NDMendeseverything was wrong you goof
Speaking as an ex boxer with a early martial arts background, boxing is handy to know in a 'street fight' as some people can block a punch, or 2 or maybe even 3 but knowing how to put combinations together is a good thing to use with your M.A. skills 🙏🏻
How about getting kicked in the ribs or the gut hard? Can boxing defend against that in an instant on the street?
@@dancooke8811yeah, you pretty much either just dodge back or side step, or you just take it on your arms
@@dancooke8811 acting like boxing doesn't have body shots
For me, I think the best effective move would be right leg kick to his right knee. I’ve Made a mistake of trying to connect to his left knee. Which leaves me to vulnerable and right in front of his path. My question is should I use an inside kick or an outside kick with an outside kick I could escape as an executing the kick my body would be directed in a defensive retreat position if I use an inside kick With my right leg, my follow up is facing him but if I use an outside kick the direction of my escape is already committed so if the kick is an effective or if I miss at least I would have begun my escape route. My question is, should I try to throw a jabber combo followed up with outside kick we just use defence duck, his punches for the outside kick to his kneecap which we totally demobilise. That’s all I’m looking for because I wasn’t starting a fight. I was just defending myself
@@dancooke8811why do mma practitioners always seems to ask what a boxer can defend when the vast majority of mma practitioners have glass chins?
I agree that style doesn't matter, however, one fundamental problem and the reason you don't see pak sau very often in full contact combat sports is that human reaction time is slow and fixed. If a person can throw a punch to point of impact in 200ms or less, you will not even be able to move to block it before it connects. This is why range and movement are so vitally important. If the person is a skilled fighter, you won't be able to intercept a punch once it's in motion. You have to maintain distance and movement, then when the opponent closes distance, execute a premptive block and stop the potential punch before it's thrown. From there, maintaining contact and directing the opponent's position and movement will give Wing Chun a distinct advantage.
Trapping is rarely seen because it is a brief moment in time in combat sports. They by pass the trapping range from striking and go straight to grappling. They are few who know how to hit in trapping range but they do not possess the short range power to stop a fight because it is not meant to stop the fight but defend against the attack.
A parry is raw version of pock sau, it is the difference between scratched by house cat ( parry ) or tiger ( pock sau)
It is also difference between flicker jab vs power jab
@@mrmushin1 all depends on what style of Perry you’re using
Nah. Assuming the opp got decent hands/all things equal. only 10% of wing chun is useful in a street fight. Whereas boxing 90% is useful. 👍

@@UrbanDefenseSystemsDon’t underestimate a person whos good at fighting no matter the style.
…Like you can ever diss boxing since toughest mma fighters have boxing backgrounds like Francis Ngannou
@@Kladenetz I'm a HUGE proponent for people learning to box. I just find "adaptive" to have been an overstatement, since there's plenty of evidence showing how they cant handle a leg kick or takedown if they haven't trained in those things. At this point, if one wants to consider themselves a decent martial artist, they have to cross train regardless of the martial art, like you said.
@@Kladenetz antonio inoki gave mohamed ali the beating of a life time and that is after ali and his boys changed the rules. And there is also the famous rick roufous, american kickboxing champion vs a thai fighter. Low kicks completely neutralized rick
...Oh you mean the fight where Muhammed Ali hillariously dangled over the ropes to avoid his kicks?
Not sure what you were thinking with these points, Boxing still is a versatile combat style because it masters your ability to use your fists, your movements with your legs, and head movement.
P.S there is a kickboxing style thats basically 90 percent boxing with some kicks or knees.
Also, you can easily prop your hands up and go into a perfect boxing stance, and quickly use your hands which a boxer is amazing at using.
...You can't exactly quickly go into any kicking stance and deliver a head or low kick that fast because unlike street fights, there is no ref, the fight starts mostly when someone is already throwing an attack at you, whats that attack going to be mostly? A punch.
Plus, fighting for real and in a ring are different. Everyone else who has been in both can agree. @@ashurafreedan
Everyone saying it won’t work never really fought before and it shows. It ultimately comes down to the person not the style. If the person dedicated his time to train to the utmost it’ll work. Same for boxing or any sport

lmao, watch mma vs karate and see for yourself. Stop this thinking that believing in yourself will make it work. You, sir, are delusional.
That's total delusional thinking to convince yourself to believe a lie. Style absolutely matters. Why? An amateur boxer will easily beat a Wing Chun master. 6 months of Muay Thai and you will be able to beat any traditional stylist fairly easily.

Bruce Lee did he also put Karate, Fencing and Cha-Cha into it and called it JKD
@@dancooke8811I have no issue with jkd practitioners but from how I see it there are 2 camps in jkd the philosophy of the art and the people who think the only way is so do it the way Bruce Lee did it
@@dancooke8811the funny thing is that JKD isnt even a proper Style. Its a Mindset. Lee said that you should be like water. Some People mistook it for him saying you have to be like water as in that its a flowing movement and you should be able to adapt mid fight. But thats n9t what he meant with that. He meant to ADAPT like water to different scenarios. He wanted people to mix different fighting styles that fit their body type, talents and usual opponents. He was very keen on making sure people who are tall use fighting styles that emphasize the length of their arms and legs. That people who are small should learn to use their speed and explosive power. Everyone should learn some groundwork but not rely ONLY on that. I think if more people would realize that there isnt a single MA that dominates the rest.. and anyone would be a better fighter if he would learn a little bit from 3-4 styles that fits himself best, we wouldnt have alot of the arguments we have online.
Exactly
If you parry or block a boxer’s jab he’s not going to just continue with the combination.
What? If it’s a fast, well trained combo that’s exactly what happens, the 2nd punch is coming in an eye blink, and the 3rd.
@@Nill757 it depends. In the scenario in this video not likely. A good boxer will throw multiple jabs to set up the combo and if you block the first jab with two hands like in the video he’ll more likely reset and feint the jab. I mean when have you ever seen a boxer jump straight into a combination without any set up?
@@joeys_detailing Agreed. But once he decides to bring the combo….
There’s another side to blocks of jabs. Boxer sees that, it means his worst fear, counter punch, is not a likely threat. Boxer knows he is not going to get hit is much more dangerous.
This isn't even a jab being thrown in this vid, this is a straight right. The jab comes back immediately unless it's a sticking jab to cover the eyes.

I really like this, he’s doesn’t stick to wing chun solely, he uses other techniques from other martial arts. The thing is that there is time and places for different martial arts and moves, there is a time when wing chun would have been better than boxing, or when boxing would have been better than wing chun.
Which is EXACTLY WHY BRUCE CREATED JEET KUNE DO! WHOEVER THINKS THE PUNCH FROM A BOXER IS TOO FAST TO BLOCK IS DEFINITELY NOT A VERY GOOD WING CHUN PRACTITIONER! Also Wing Chun users will alter the center line of the opponent instead of reverting to boxing with a duck of the head. One of the things I’ve found that works well with boxers at that range is to disrupt their timing and distance. If you can drag them across their centerline even a little bit off the cross it often disrupts the hook.
Yes the hook at close range is tough to deal with. You must have forward energy and strong centerline
Timing and distance... the best things that a boxer can manage... The first things he learns...

@@benitocamela174 or is it because no one is teaching them in a way that can be used?
@@Selfdefensegoat No professional fighter in ANY combative sport where the object is to knock the other guy out, has ever succeeded by employing blocking and trapping. Not in boxing, not in kickboxing, not in MMA, not Muy Thai. A man who relies first and foremost on blocking as his defense is a prime candidate for a fake and since action is always faster than reaction, he will always be a day late and a dollar short. The boxer will pump fake the jab, which draws out the block or parry and then he will hit the exposed shin. Once the first hit is made the other parries / blocks / traps will evaporate as the cross and hook follow in a split second. End of fight. End of Story.

Another distinct advantage boxers have is full contact sparring. You can train all you like but if you never feel full contact you will be lost in a fight. None of that soft body sparring either.
Going to add this to in support of Wing Chun.
You regularly practice strikes to the eyes, throat etc..
Kicks are usually for the knees to break and tear ligaments. (like kicking someone's knee sideways)
Everything I just stated, is illegal in MMA/Octagon/cage w/e for obvious reasons. Knee breaks like that can be career ending.
It was an martial art designed to finish fights quickly and get away by a woman being harassed by men.

Im a defensive counter fighter who has fought a number of registered (yet still amatuer) MMA fighters. My defensive counter style has provided many valubale lessons to less diverse fighters. Muay Thai, BJJ, and standard boxing dominate the MMA community however a wing chun thats been developed through application mixed with judo creates a beautiful combo. I have stories im proud to share with generations beyond me
This would make for solid learning during sparring sessions too
Good content for people who are looking to incorporate into daily training .
Perfect videos man.
I dont like wing chun but this guy is good at it. He says intelligent things. My problem is this: is wing chun the only type of kung fu?
It doesn't seem like there is much options to choose from. I would thing there are literally hundreds of types of kung fu but wing chun is the default forced on people.
I strongly feel there are better kung fu and they only let people do this because they keep better for themselves. If so I wouldn't be interested. It feels like being controlled and limited.
One thing to teach, another thing to do. Any decent boxer beats Wing Chun every time
Show myself one boxer that just stays still throwing a combo. Head will move off the centre line they will slip in the combo to the left since he threw the left hook.
I don't know wing chun, i don't judge it, but damn boxing is "stylish"

"Style vs. style doesn't matter"... such true words. The endless debate about which martial art or style is "best" is meaningless and irrelevant if it doesn't take into account the practitioner and the training method.
Live training against progressive resistance is the only way to develop true hand-to-hand combat and self-defense capability, regardless of the art or style employed.
Your videos are helping me feel safe. I can’t afford sparring classes and I have a stalker who’s been sending death threats. Thank u so much for this content !! Hopefully, if he does show up, I’ll still be alive after :)
You better spar if you want to actually be effective in a physical altercation
This is the first video I have seen so far I would recommend another strategy:
Looking back and several years experimenting crossover full contact sparring I would not recommend to enter a boxers terrain by using wing chun or similar in fight techniques.
Whenever I had the role of the boxer it was very easy to simply "overpower" the wing chun practicioner. I only but constantly trained the basics of wing chun so I wasn't the highlight as a wing chun fighter, but I found it very hard to intercept a boxers combo im any way. Other practicioners had the same experience.
It turned out to be much more efficient to instantly take hands up and throw your body sidewards into him and make him fall or tumble, if possible push him off and simply run away.
If this would be for a street fight situation and you know he is a boxer and is coming for you this could work better than expected even though its that simple.
When it comes to fight a boxer in a ring or crossover sparring with another style there is always the rule "avoid HIS terrain"
Don't wrestle a wrestler, don't punch a boxer, don't clinch a thaiboxer, and dafuq don't fight someone with a sword if you are unarmed. 😂
Guys you do great videos and I really appreciate all the work you guys did and do.
Keep it up. If you like try what I recommended. 😊 Maybe its worth a try.
Yeah works in slow motion, won't work in real life. Trust me I wish this stuff worked if only because of how cool it looks.
Just combine wing chun and boxing . You will get powerful punches with good trapping
Very good video 😮
The wing chung hand flurry is hilarious 😂 a boxer would beat reality into anyone using this kockamammie
Nonetheless, I like these videos there’s something to be said which is nice to see
Wing Chun use of hands to parry is it's flaw. A good boxer will feint to draw the parry hand and counter. You see it all the time in boxing when someone gets to comfortable parrying shots away from their chin
The more I watch wing chun videos that more I see techniques that are used in boxing. He went from a cross block (used by Archie Moore and old George Forman) back to a high guard to a weave.
you know one of the greatest boxers of all time imo floyd mayweather basically uses a form of wing chun, the best defensive fighter of all time used the philly shell basically a form of wing chun defense so well he was only really hit/ rocked maybe 5 or 6 times in his career and has never lost
I know right. If i get a quarter every time an opponent just kept their hands exactly where they tried to punch me for 30 seconds...well...I would have zero. 😂
THANK YOU! I have always said - "Styles don't fight each other, PEOPLE do". I have seen so much "ABC vs XYZ" BS on the internet. At the end if the day, it's the FIGHTER that dictates outcome, not the art he trains. Particular "arts" put particular tools in your box. Having different tools is great. Ultimately, it boils down to how well you USE those tools tho.
Exactly some forms are made for fighting one another better than they can other different styles but they can still be used if mastered properly

Close Quarter Combat is all about self awareness, reflexes and readiness of the body and attacking/defending limbs. This is achieved through PRACTICE, PRACTICE and PRACTICE. Just like doing math right or driving a vehicle. Knowing how to do it is not enough, it is practice that makes practicality effective.
Coaches will talk and guide, that's their job. Through RUclips that's all we can get. But to be effective in application, watching videos only will do nothing useful. Exercise and practice. Find a partner and spar, spar, spar!!!
feints really really fuck up an overactive defense like this as well, if you’re moving to block every individual punch, you need to start moving the SECOND that you see them start to throw the punch, that means it will be extremely easy to get you to fall for feints. you’ll either overcommit to feints leaving you open else where, or have to hesitate before blocking to determine if it’s a real hit, making it really hard to react in time if it is a real punch. managing range and using head movement or shelling up when you can’t will just alway be superior to bringing your hands down away from your face.
However, you are right! You show self-defense techniques, not professional sports! This is also necessary!❤🎉
I practice jkd/mma and still use a lot from wing chun. The form and trapping isn't the problem, it's how they try to apply it. Watch how Kamaru Usman ko'd Jorge Masvidal, Usman handtrapped to a right hand. Watch how Jorge knocked out Darren Till, Jorge did a shifting handtrap to hooks combo and Darren knocked Jorge down earlier in their fight, with a handtrap combo.
Handtraps work, it's just a moment in time and you don't wait for connection to trap, you attack with the trap. The place where chi sau sensitivity really works is in grappling; such as when you are mounted on an opponent THAT'S where you can more easily roll elbows over their guard and flow around their arms to throw punches (not that you can't roll an elbow over their guard in standup, both Jon Jones and Tony Ferguson have done this in MMA)
I did 5 years of Wing Chung. They saw my talent and sponsored me to fly to China . I trained and lived with people who did Wing chung with Hard Sparring. I was promoted and confident how powerful wing chung is. On my way back home i made a detour to Thailand. Muay Thai kicked commonsense into my face . Now i do Muay Thai mix it up with western boxing. And Grappling. Don't waste your time guy's. Do real things for real results.
To people saying that this wont work in a fight and he does it slowly and that's not realistic to an actual fight, listen, I do both boxing and wingchun, the way they train you is slow and steady first, so you can get use to the movement and see what you gotta do then you add the speed to it once you got it down, that's how you build the muscle memory, if u tried learning that shit at full speed u aint gonna learn shit all, and for people that are like just do boxing it always works, boxing is very simple therefor can be easily countered by someone that knows how, boxing and karate are good when ur fighting someone else thats also using it, in a fight with no rules against people that know other stuff its 50/50
Finally somebody who knows what they're talking about
My combos for street fight (ONLY!!!!!)

Most wing chun guys will not pull this off against a amateur boxer
What if it was amateur wing chun guy?
Or u could always step back 1/2 a step to throw him off and pivot on your back foot turn sideways and move your leg back towards your middle and push out hard and fast in a side kick towards their centre. Or pivot turn to your right and kick with the front part of your foot towards the ribs.

Generally idea of grabbing a hand or leg, neck, shirt or whatever is very effective. Throws, jabs, kicks, takedowns, etd.. Question is: Can you exercute this? Fast and accurately.. Can you still have energy or recover to do another technique? Running requires also strength, speed and endurance and very good health. Basically whatever you do, if you manage to do then you get into effective techinique.. from potential to effective. The reason why boxing seems effective is that utilizes simple movements.. If you have power you can have better chande..

I’ve been doing martial arts my whole life, now not in a “sport” but in a real life situation I pretty much know that if I’m not the one to create the forward momentum, and I’m ready to capitalize, I’m almost guaranteed to have the advantage.
Of course spending hundreds of hours sparring and witnessing fists and people coming at you will give you a huge advantage in the realm of staying calm and ready in the pocket.
Now of course, this is only if you absolutely can not run, or must remain in the face of danger so those less equipped can escape.
