She is beyond genius level. Ryan Tedder calls her a songwriting savant and I don’t think he is far wrong. She was born with something you can’t teach. She has honed that gift to a razor’s each through years of diligent work but you can’t teach that gift she was born with. She is a storyteller the way Roger Federer is a tennis player. They have that ability to make the magical seems almost mundane by how easy they make it look. In both cases the better you are at what they do the more you appreciate what they do. It’s why professional musicians and especially songwriters hold Taylor in such esteem…

@@parkerburgio She is one of the best exponents of what I call eternal songs. By that I mean those songs that the first time you ever hear them they sound familiar like they have always existed yet every subsequent time you hear them it’s new. And they never really lose their impact.

Same here! I share your preferences, as well. Most of her singles fall in the glitter gel pen category and I think they're her weaker songs. For me, it's sad and disheartening that many people won't bother to listen to her quill/fountain pen songs simply because they think everything else she has is in the glitter pen category.
