  • How to guide change the waste ink pads in an Epson Ecotank ET-2711 using the ET2 Printer Pad set from Printer Potty.
    [The instructions cover other models of the same design so see the long list at the bottom of this description]
    The replacement pads are available in single and double pad sets to help cut down on postage and they make use of the existing pad holder so you don't have to waste more plastic unnecessarily.

    Also, worth noting that you do still need to reset the waste ink counter to clear the waste related error and instructions for this are covered in separate videos on this channel.

    Much prefer the 'talking' version - as it deals with some important points which are not obvious in the 'speed / music' version.

    Hi. Thanks for your reply I will check for future videos. I did solve my problem. I realised it doesn't help having a small piece of paper under the print heads 🤦‍♂️. Thanks again, Phil Dean

      Yes.. Do a search on the channel for “WICReset” to find the videos on resetting the waste ink counters and clearing the waste ink pad error…

    I've printed about 2 full bottles of sublimation ink thru it. And am just now getting the message of ink pads at end of life. Think it's time for pads?

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад

      That's actually pretty good for a dye-sub setup but yes probably time for pads or even an external waste kit.

      @@octoinkjet it's used every day I seen a video on the tube that says if you don't use it it'll plug up and I don't want that and I've only done one power cleaning in it so far and where does a guy get the kit?

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад

      That's good advice as Dyesub ink clogs really quickly so regular printing is a must. You've obviously looked after your printer to get the printer this far along for two whole rounds of ink before hitting the waste ink error and with only one power clean.
      As to the pad kits, the ET2711 is supported by our ET2 Pad set which you can get here:

    I have an ET2711 which seems to be leaking ink from near to the eco tanks. Do you have video on how get access to the tanks to check the tubes and clean the printer. Thanks

      We are planning a video to show how to deal with some common problems we've seen with Ecotank printers although that will be on an ET-2750. You should be able to find what you need in other channels if you do a search using keywords: ET2700 disassemble
      There's a lot of ET2700 and ET2800 series printer models that are all the same design so try varying the model reference (eg: ET2711, ET2710, etc..) and you should find what you need.

    Is there a reset to stop the printer from notifying you?

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  3 месяца назад

      If you mean a way to clear the waste pad error message then yes. You need to search this channel for the following keyword: “WICReset”.
      That should provide you with instructions on how to reset the waste ink counter. You do need to purchase a WICReset key though and you can get those here:
      Https://www.octoink.co.uk/keys

So, if you have some time spare and feel like helping us with some constructive feedback, please watch this version too: ruclips.net/video/IYFLNg2kkK4/видео.html
    ... and let us know what you like/prefer about each format.
    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

      Is there (or can you make) a similar video for the ET-2400 model? It does not seem to use "Maintenance Boxes" like this unit does (see the ET-2400 User's Guide pages 159-160).

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад

      Based on the images I've found of the ET-2400, I'd say the existing guides for the ET-2711 or ET-2750 will cover that printer model. It's such a new model that I've not seen anything about spare parts to confirm which but I'm pretty confident it'll be more likely the ET-2711 design with the smaller pad assembly. If you have one and can take the panel off (as per this video) you should be able to see and confirm yourself.

    Why can't you just clean the sponges with water and then finish up with isopropyl alcohol, let dry, and then reinstall? Would only cost a few dollars for the 92% isopropyl at the store.

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад +1

      That’s always an option but sometimes the pads fall apart or they simply don’t resume their original absorbent capacity after washing.

    You didn't say when you might need to change the waste pads and how often

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад

      For good reason. It’s like asking “how long is a piece of string?” It differs for every user. Best guess we can offer is roughly the same interval as your printer has lasted to the first time you hit the error… assuming your usage doesn’t change much.

    • @dazzlebee786
      @dazzlebee786 Год назад

      @@octoinkjet does it come up with some sort of warning. I've had my printer a while but not had any error message. Apart from today all lights are blinking but got no paper jam.

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад

      It depends on the printer model. The easiest way to check if your error is waste ink related is to use the WICReset freely to read the waste counter. That’ll confirm it. If it’s not that then use the “report” function to get a diagnostic read out.

    No replacement needed. Remove and clean with rubbing alcohol. Let dry and put it back in. NO purchase necessary.

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  Год назад +3

      If you're going to use rubbing alcohol to clean the pads, be careful where and how you use it because it is potentially toxic and/or explosive/flammable in enclosed, unventilated spaces. Also wear gloves. Additionally it's worth noting that pads don't always clean up properly and usually lose absorbent capacity, particularly if compressed as part of the cleaning process. Don't squeeze the pads!
      And no, purchase isn't always necessary but we don't just provide a product. We also provide a ton of technical support and advice to help end-users who lack confidence in their technical skills, as well as help dig them out of numerous printer related holes. So any purchases help us to pay back our investment in both money and time. They also help fund future products and support resources like this.
      Regardless of your opinion on our products necessity or otherwise, I trust the video was still helpful. All the best.
