The second solo brings forth all the pain and angst inside, and at least for me that makes it cathartic because it lets it out and washes it away, so I feel like I've been washed clean every time I hear it. Thanks for a great reaction video =D

Harri, if you want to TRULY experience Floyd as it was meant to be, it is REQUIRED that you listen to Dark Side Of The Moon from start to finish. It cant be fully appreciated without this. If you could do a reaction to the entire Dark Side album, it would be amazing for us, and it will change your life, like it does for most people. There are very few musical experiences like Dark Side in its entirety. Close To The Edge by Yes is another example of this (another masterpiece of 20th Century music). Great reaction!

I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend at the time and I loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I cannot describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. Our 4 adult children (28-33) love 70’s/80’s music just as we do. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.

That PULSE live version is even better with a very long 2nd solo, David Gilmour took the time to buid it, and your emotion goes higher and higher... as he plugs his guitar directly to your soul....

The sound was crystal clear, and in surround. The light show was amazing.

This song, done this way, always seems to Overload my Emotions and like you, I get tears even though my heart and mind are Soaring somewhere out in a space that is reserved for out of body experiences and trips to Heaven. I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know

Pink Floyd are I think are a band that can reach into your soul and connect with you like no other band can they instinctively know how your mind will react to their music and that’s a fantastic thing to be able to do on both an Emotional and physical level you can feel your blood pressure drop as you relax into the music, A great reaction I watched the music take you to places in your head like it did me when I first heard them, Stay safe. 👍🏻

You win my vote for best reaction to this song my man. For me this is the only guitar piece that makes me cry, I think it's because somewhere in your subconcious it registers that you know you will never here anything better than this.

To me the solos, while different, are connected. The first one is soothing but haunting. It's not healing. All that pain is still inside, and on the second solo it all comes pouring out. I've never heard a song where the solo so clearly is carrying on the emotional narrative of the song. I think it's ok to feel these things. I think a lot of us made it through some pains in our early lives without truly healing them. We become comfortably numb to them, but they are still there, deep down. I think what this song does is it touches that place and speaks right to it. It's raw, it could help us wake up to it again and give us a chance to go through it, to heal, if we're ready.

Wow dude this is probably one of the best reactions that I watched You literally dissected that song into various parts and how it affected you I'll be straight with you I'm 54 and I've been listening that song since I was 16 years old saw them in concert live three times and put it this way The only thing that I ask everybody when I die play that song. But I really appreciate this review and just how you put it into your words and just explained or tried to cuz it's hard to put it in a nutshell but you explained how it affected you that was just amazing. Great job I hope you'll listen to that song a lot more in the future very very nice to watch. Have a good one kind of makes you look at life a little bit differently through eyes of many. ...

In an interview released in the 80s, Waters said that much of the song comes from something that really happened one evening when, in order to allow him to perform in Philadelphia, the doctor gave him a sedative for a severe stomach ache, which had probably caused by nerves. On the stage, his hands were numb and his vision blurred, but none of this derailed the crowd, who continued to dance and sing. And it was out of this that one of the main themes of The Wall came about: the disconnect between the public and the band.
“That was the longest two hours of my life, trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.

Can't believe you interpreted the song right. Syd Barrett (original Pink Floyd member) lost his mind early on to drugs. I would have never guessed the meaning myself -- I 've read about it. You're amazing Harri - woah!

Lol Harri, I don't think you opened your eyes once during the whole song! You just HAVE to go back and WATCH it, if you haven't already. Their live shows are out of this world. Aural and visual ear and eye candy! I'm so glad you're enjoying Pink Floyd, one of my many favorite bands of all time. David Gilmour is definitely a gift to the world from a Higher Power. Blessings to you and yours, Harri. 🌟💫💛

For me this song is as personal as it gets. My interpretation is that life gradually makes us numb as a defensive maneuver against the constant barrage of hurts, little and big. The daily rejections, defeats, indignities and disappointments we all endure to get by in a system that serves only itself. This is a major theme throughout The Wall. “Another Brick in the Wall” points a finger directly at the education system’s role in conditioning us to subvert ourselves to a societal system that doesn’t care about us.
We go numb, but the numbness itself causes us pain because we can still dimly recall a time before the hurt and the numbness. The innocence of childhood and the vulnerability of it, but also the pure unsuppressed joy, freedom and aliveness of it. There’s an enormous cost in growing up and learning to cope. Numbness seems like the best available treatment for the pain, but it’s a poor one.
The chorus passages are the adult trying to shake off the numbness to hear the child’s voice once again, but barely able. “You are only coming through in waves, a ship’s smoke on the horizon.” We struggle to remember but it’s just out of reach, “I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye; I turned to look but it was gone; the child is grown, the dream is gone.” It’s the tragedy of lost innocence we all must live with in an uncaring world. David Gilmour’s second solo is the pain of that tragedy spoken beautifully through his guitar, and you can hear it in every note.
Your reactions are priceless. Keep up the great work.

Glad you’ve found the best band of all time and the most creative music period, the ‘70’s. Now try Jethro Tull, Aqualung, Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s first album, The Who, Who’s Next, Yes, Close to the edge, then you will get an idea of what it was like growing up then👍👍

Forgive me, Harri, if I have already told you this, but my brother was 12 years older than me, and when my sister and I were little, 7 and 9, he would have to babysit and one of his favorite things to do was to have us sit in his room, turn off the lights and turn on his blacklights and he would play this whole album....it absolutely kept us mesmerized and like we had been carried away to a secret magical, sometimes scary place. And I have continued to love them since. Wonderful reaction as always.
