    Thanks for sharing your palette, love the unique way you swatched your colors! I have most of these paints and appreciate the tips you gave for mixes, inspires me to play with swatching them and I can't wait to start splattering Cobalt Teal :). I only use Sepia & Prussian Green for value studies because they are great dark values, but need to think about putting them into palette rotation, and realize that I've been neglecting my old fav Quin Sienna. I have some of the sticks, and generally they work the same as the tube versions, except for Indanthrone Blue which is brighter in the stick version (which I actually like). I'd love to see you focus on any of these colors in the future and how you use them in your paintings, and look forward to the Graphite Grey video. 🎨🖌🥳

      Thank you for sharing about the Indanthrone Blue! I haven’t gotten that stick yet but now am excited to try it, yes the Cobalt Teal splatter is very satisfying, so is splattering some of the Bronzite and/or Kyanite into nature scenes to add a little bit of shimmer ✨🤍✨

    Thank you so much for this! I really appreciate that you took the time to not only point out your favorites, but included the many ways they could be combined with other colors! As someone who loves all the colors, but struggles with color mixing and avoiding mud, I really learned a lot from this! I would also love to see your candy colors, but your other suggestions are totally great, too!

      So happy you enjoyed this video! Seems many books and classes teach color theory but fail to share color mixes that work well together. Not every blue plus yellow makes a nice green despite what our color wheels show, it’s so great when artists share colors that get along, if you find any lovely mixes please share here 😍😍😍

    Glad you also like the graphite grey. And Phthalo Turquoise too- I want to love it, but it is so strong that I usually end up fighting with it lol.

      Hi Mark, Yeah the Turq is a very strong color, since I use a lot of pouring the staining colors help keep some vibrancy. And it mixes soooooo good with other colors if you just use a bit of it 😉

    I’d love to create a palette just like this one as a looks gorgeous and you “sell it “ perfectly!!
    I wish DS would let you make a swatch card with samples so we could try them!! I’ll suggest it but wish your other subscribers would also ask for this. We need to do it at same time and overload them!!!!💕
    I’m game for all three of ur ideas and would love to see you mix from your entire palette with you making the mixes you are telling us about. You might need to make more than one video tho ..it might take some time but WOW!! that’s exciting
    Thank you

    Hiya Buffy, Thanks very much for a really interesting video giving an insight into your personal palette. What artist isn't interested in everyone's palette? What about a video on your candy colours, that would be really interesting because I don't think that there are many watercolourist's who use them and it would be fascinating to see how you mix them. Take care, David x

    The graphite grey sounds intriguing! I’d also like to see how you use the watercolor sticks. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them. Are they as intense as the tube colors? And I’d also like to see what you’ve named your candy colors! I very much enjoyed this video. It’s always interesting to see what others choose for their base palette and the reasons therefore! Thanks!

      I am loving the sticks and find them to be very similar to the tubes, buying them at merriartist.com/collections/daniel-smith-watercolor-sticks sold there for 9.01 per stick means that the sticks are more affordable than the tubes especially for the Primatek colors. Thank you for the feedback, hope to record and upload these ideas soon ✨🤍✨

      @@watercolorpour I’m jealous! ;) I live in Canada and just checked out one of our online stores… prices have gone up and DS tubes run between $19-$26. The sticks are $11-14…with free shipping if you’re spending at least $75! And merriart only ships within USA. No problem, though…I’ve got enough to last eons! :)

      @@jenneke9763 ok if you do decide to get some more sticks and have some local artist friends, each stick can be cut with a razor into 2 full size pans and one 1/2 pan, or 4 half pans- so if they wanted to pitch in to buy the colors you could then split them up 😉

    Beautiful palette, thank you for sharing it. I don`t know if there is a Lunar blue stick, but if I may ask, do you have it in a tube or a stick? I too love that mix, but when I squeeze it and it dries in my palette, it crumbles so much.. I don`t know if I`m the only one with this experience..

    • @watercolorpour
      @watercolorpour  2 года назад +1

      I have the Lunar Blue in a tube, and squeeze some into a full empty pan and allow to dry, then rewet it to use again. So far I have not had it crumble, but maybe just using a little each time you paint may help?
