  • My first amp I ever bought back in the 90s, picked one up used, and boy does it still sound great!

GND reverses the polarity / ground lift...if you have a bad power source causing "hum" ...flip the switch

That amp was probably sitting in a garage for 20 years, good job cleaning it! I have a silver stripe bandit from the late 90's. It is a very versatile amp, but I only use it for clean and light overdrive sounds. The only negative is that it weighs 48 pounds!

best way to clean that Peavey hard tolex is to use a semi hard bristle brush. that tolex does collect dust and impossible to clean. Also, this amp was built in 1990. according to Peavey serial number.

Quite often, you will find an amp that has NO OUTPUT. To test, just bang on the case and see if you can hear the clash through the speaker. Chances are, you have a very dirty "Return" jack that needs cleaning. If the Return is dirty, that will prevent the signal from passing from the Send to the Return to the amp section. Just put a 6 inch jumper cable to test this. Use DeoxIT cleaner or similar to clean the jacks. Ok, dirty pots are also common. These amps are solid. I can find these amps for $100 or less and they might require some light maintenance to get them back up and running like new.

Just bought one that needs some love, my plan is to convert it to a head and use the scorpion to replace the missing one in my 212 and use the scorpions for the bandit or my mustang V!

I have this same Amp. I bought it new in 1989.

I recently bought and reconditioned a 1988 Bandit 112, most commonly known as the "No Stripe" model, which is almost identical to the one shown here apart from having just 2 switches (Bright and Channel) and just Bottom and Edge controls on the drive channel. I also had to remove the chasis and the speaker as some pots were scratchy (I just sprayed some contact cleaner and it did the trick) and the Scorpion had a big hole on its cone, the tolex doesn't look like new or anything after warm soapy water and some armor-all but all in all I'm very satisfied after paying a little under a $100 for it (including the speaker being fitted with a new cone), I was surprised to find Dual Lock on it used to affix the grill, I thought that stuff was newer 😅. The amp's clean channel sounds clear, glassy and very responsive to the guitar's volume knob so it should be a great pedal platform, it also has an fx loop! I've seen these go up in price on reverb as many guitar players are catching on the fact that these amps are rock solid and the Scorpion speakers are legendary in the industry and no longer available. I might look for another one if it's the right price.

GC is probably the best place to get a reasonably price Bandit 112 as of 2024. In the used market, sellers are starting to get wind of the cult surrounding them and I have seen priced from the 400s to 275 on Reverb and eBay. Probably a quarter of those listings don't wanna ship. I got a silver stripe shipped for $250 out the door. Just call up and ask some questions and move on to the next one on the list if you don't like what you are hearing.

One of these sits next to my Fender M-80 1x12, another killer 80/90's tone. Great vid and demo!

Love that amp, been having trouble for some time, gain drops, reverb crapping out. Hiting it fixes it for a while

  • @johnmcdonough666

I bought a silver stripe of a junkie for 50 bucks ten years ago. My go-to pedal amp.

  • @therisendead7

Sounds killer, man. Entombed used these on Left Hand Path...ever ran a Boss HM-2 through it?
