  • I bought two amps for $20 from a guy who had left them on his porch in the rain and Florida sun for months. One was trash, and the Peavey was almost in the bin too. Hang with me as we try to bring this old beast back to life.

These old Peavey bandits are fucking legendary! And it has the Scorpion speaker, which sound sick! Great little practice amps for metalheads

This is they most underrated amp on planet earth - when the hipsters finally catch on to the Teal 112 it'll be $1000 I prefer the Sheffield speaker but both are better then a roland jazz chorus.

A passion for U.S.-made Peaveys resonates large for me. All my amp action is Canadian, but for two ass-pounding Peaveys - one of them a teal stripe.

Thanks for doing this video. Hard to find a well-explained video on Peavey amp restoration techniques.

I just bought a Peavey 4X12 XXL cab. The guy only knew it "died" for no reason. He also had no clue that one must use a screwdriver or tool at the edge to get some 20 years of factory Velcro to let the grill come off the front. That Peavey Industrial grade velcro has stopped a million cabs from being opened. lol This one only needed a loose connector to be fixed after the grill and one speaker was removed. . I used Dawn Powerspray to clean it all, speakers also, and that Dawn Powerspray is amazing at this type of semi-dry cleaning.

I vote new speaker to preserve the originality of the amp, but I’m watching either way because I love the work you do! 🙌🏻

Awesome! BTW a paintbrush works good to get in the nooks and crannys. ( like below the speaker) Then armor all to make it look new. Make sure to hose all of the contacts and pots out with deoxit!

I just bought a Silver Stripe that needs the same, a good cleaning including pots and jacks. Thanks for the disassembling details, very useful info as I had no idea that the front grill has velcro! Subbed

Buy a can of clear lacquer...spray lightly around the surround and cone. Then spray the spider...but do it lightly. Speaker will last you and sound will improve. I have 3 peavey amps...all of them sound great! Good luck!!!

I still have my OG'93 Teal Stripe Bandit purchased from Sam's Ass. I almost sold it, but TG I came back to my senses... I always find myself "needing" it for a quick jam, or nowadays it's my "poor man's" FRFR for the GT1000.

according to that serial number, amp was built in 1992. this amp is 80 watts RMS. You can find a Sheffield 1230 speaker and replace so just to keep it stock. these amps are the real tanks. I got my red stripe and will never let it go.

Nice man, I'm restoring and modding an 80s backstage plus atm 👍 It's got an output jack on now, and I'm wiring up half an old guitar lead to the speaker so I can take my pick 😉

Hey Richard, great content as always. I think this amp would make a sick head to use with some other cabs. I would love to see your methods and process on how to do a conversion like that. Thank you for your videos and all the effort you put into them.

Great job! I also paid silly money for a Bandit that needed a good scrubbing and pots cleaning. They really are great amps.

I suggest turning it into a head, that’d be awesome. Then make a mini cab for it. Make sure you still use the stripes though
