The scariest thing about the movie is it does a great job showing how we much need power, the internet, cellphone towers, and GPS.
You also need security, and meet up points. Maybe a market, on Sundays, after the initial chaos is over.

I recently found out that my landline was using VoIP (voice over IP) making it worthless if cell service/internet, or power went down. Which defeats the purpose of having the landline. I always felt better having an alternate phone in case of an emergency. But apparently I had been set up on VoIP with AT&Ts U-Verse bundle. So a month or so ago I switched my home phone line from VoIP, back to P.O.T.S. (acronym for plain old telephone system). Now it works using an old fashioned analog signal with copper wiring. More importantly it works if wifi/internet goes down, or if there's a power outage. To stress the importance of a pots landline, anyone who rely's on Life Alert or any other medical alert system, you HAVE TO have an analog based phone line, to ensure there isn't chance of your phone line being interrupted.
As a movie it was crap, but very useful as a wakeup call and survival guide. Gonna go buy that gun I’ve been thinking about, and some radiation tablets.

Guns are a great investment because they'll never lose their value. And unlike a handful of silver or gold, a gun is extremely useful. Especially if used for food and/or defense.

Mahershala Ali was by far the best actor in this movie. He doesn’t get enough credit for his work. That scene where he was telling Julia Roberts about his client was truly eerie

I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars for a lot of suspense that went nowhere and an unsatisfying soft ending. Too much dialogue and not enough display of what was actually happening in the world around them.

I’m one hour and thirty minutes in the movie and still have no clue what’s going on here. Oil ship stuck on a beach, black guy with daughter comes to house, little girl obsessed with friends, plains going down, Tesla hit each others, Arabic papers propaganda, flamingos in the pool, deer in wood like wtf. And characters are talking about everything but what’s going on.
Im currently watching the movie and the only reason i watched it was because of julia roberts. But judging by the comments im not sure if i wanna finish it.......

The reason that this is so scary is the psychological aspects of this. It makes you think “what if this happened to the world” and such and it makes you feel that from the realism. Countries or hackers hacking something isn’t that far from reality as we have seen it before. Overtime, we get to know the characters and sympathize with them and when something happens to them we feel things. A perfect example is Archie getting sick. We feel shock and worry for him just like the characters. It’s especially terrifying if you’ve encountered disease or injury related horror. If you’ve ever heard about radiation poisoning/sickness it’s even more terrifying when you know he will not get better with the medicine and throughout all of this, war is taking place in the city. Now, let’s talk about the “bad” ending. Rose puts on a cd of friends which symbolizes the extent some people will go to be on their television. It’s not unrealistic either knowing that she’s a child and she doesn’t know control. It’s even more realistic when we had a craze for something growing up. It ending so abruptly is intentional, of course but it adds to the horror. I watched this movie a few days ago and the tension is still in the air.

It was too realistic to show how Rosie just cared about finding her favorite movie ending while rest of the world was burning outside. This is literally happening now and we are just sitting at home with all stuck out food and water, watching our favorite show.

This movie is a reflection of how dysfunctional we actually are. We have been brainwashed into a zombie where all we think about is the financial status, entertainment and just existing whilst making the capitalists literally God’s on Earth.
I asked my friends to watch this movie, and I was so shocked they don’t get the ending of this movie. Can’t u see? That dumb girl chose to watch her favourite TV show totally ignoring her mother who’s looking for her. Mind you she knew something is wrong but she can’t rationalise anything. She didn’t even think of showing her mother that the house has food, water and a totally safe place to seek shelter which was the main concern during this event.
She is so young yet she’s so addicted to the TV show. 80s and 90s born literally grew up watching this show. They’re trying to tell u that’s exactly what they were doing to us back then. Dumb -> Dumber -> Dumbest. This is not the future. This is already happening.

Remember when she was telling that story in bed to her mom about the flood? How the man was standing outside waiting for god to help him but the flood came and it killed him when he got to heaven god said he sent him all the signs to help him at the end of that story she said she done waiting. That story correlated to her life. Her family was just sitting around waiting for help that was never coming, so she took action on her own and found all the signs that god sent her. She was tryna give ppl signs the whole movie that something was wrong but just like she told her brother in the woods “nobody listens to me” so she went and did her own thing.
The show was the perfect escape to a happy friendly time when nothing was terrifying.

I did find humor in Rosie finally getting to watch Friends. I’d hope that she was able to find her way back to show her mom just how brilliant she really is.

The reason that was the end scene is to show how much people truly rely on technology as a comfort and for happiness.
I'd watch this because of Mahershala Ali. He's a great actor.
This movie was awful for so many reasons. Whoever wrote the script either does not have kids or has one they don't like, the entire cast except for George were just unbearable to watch. Everyone was a narcissist, nobody liked each other or treated each other with an ounce of respect and the actions of the characters were beyond unbelievable. So the world is ending and chaos is all around you, not one parent wondered where their kids were or what they were doing. Oh yeah, George's daughter was out getting high with some old man she just met while dad was ready to hit the sheets with a woman he just met (and dances like Elaine form Seinfeld), all while his wife is missing and presumed dead in a plane crash or trapped in another city, but who cares when you're having fun. In a real world scenario, every single character in this movie (except for Kevin Bacon) would be dead within 60 days.

Spoiler: The girl found the korean house where the fathers were also plan to go to that house too. So they are all survive and live together in that house cause the house itself has been prepared for that situation. So the ending is clear enuf to me.

Surreal and despairing movie and I got hooked on the end of it. Honestly, with the state that America is in socially, if countries wanted to try something like this they might somewhat succeed. Did y'all notice it was produced by Barack and Michelle Obama? Twice in the movie it mentions " the only thing we can do is warn them" 🤔. This is the exact scenario I thought was the most likely. Arm ppl to the hilt by making them think your gonna take their weapons. Sales are at all time high. isolate, let the ppl rise and they finish the job for em. Terrifying and very likely. It's a warning, imo.
It's a great movie, but the concept would never work in real life. No country or even combination of countries has this power. There are wayyyy too many security roadblocks in America's technology for this to work on a wide scale. America is still the tech capital of the world. The American military is also so much more powerful than every other country that it could likely take on the next 5 biggest military powers at the same time in an all-out open war.
There's also NO WAY something this big could be planned and pulled off without many many US agents finding out about it in advance to warn people. US is the biggest imperialist in the world with hands in every region, almost every country even.
Talk about prepping us for whats coming. Its like saying ‘hey, this WILL happen soon, here is a heads up’

It was not the worst ever but the portrayals of miserable families with miserable cursing kids and of course the racism… gotta have the racism… made me glad that it was over. If it had only been about the main subject matter without all the sad projections it would have MUCH better.

Another layer of meaning. Friends the series received critiques as non-inclusive show/racists, no black actors etc. And one of the subplots of this movie is racism. How Julia mistrusts the owners of the house. When she is only guests. Yet, the owners still sleep in the basement. Love this movie and its nuances.
Idk, in my opinion it showed that people are distant from their real friends and family and instead find joy in connecting to people that truly do not matter to them through shows and movies...I'm a victim of that and it was relatable, it was sort of a wake up call
I mean at one point the girl is all anxious trying to figure out how to watch the ending of friends and was talking to her brother and he asked her why it matters so much and she says " because I care for them"...and he responds "maybe you should find something else to care about"
To me that means care about God, friends, and family...most of us spend more time on our phones or watching tv then connecting with real people in the real world
