One thing I enjoy watching your channel is that you're actually using the camera instead of rambling about the specs with no work. Keep it up!
I will ramble a little more in my full review after having some more time shooting with it but I would prefer to show what it can do vs spend a lot of time just talking about it. End of the day people are probably more curious to see what it can do
Lee will always be one of the best photographers on RUclips 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nah man that’s all you. I just push buttons :P
I agree.
That’s the right way to talk about a camera and lens, showing pictures, not talking about screws, size and weight, I will choose a camera for the picture quality.
End of the day we all want to see what it can produce. Obviously specs and features matter. But they are all going to depend on what you need in a camera
FINALLY someone using the camera instead of talking about it. If people can't get great images from this camera it's THEM, not the camera. Thanks for properly exposing your images, instead of -5 or +5 and complaining about the DR hit.
There’s no point in complaining. If you need to recover a lot of highlights it will be noticeable compared to a Sony a7iv but you just need to get it closer in camera and be aware of it. It’s going to be similar to a Fuji xt5 which no one is complaining about
@@LeeZavitz From my understanding Sony is better at recovering highlights and Nikon does better at recovering shadows. Pretty sure there’s a video on it.
I generally shoot about a stop or so underexposed since the first version of the Z6.
@@shamaldeare5576 yes.. also is better to nail it on camera...
Great video, great pictures, great model to work!
Thanks for watching
Hey, Lee. One of the greatest strengths of your channel to me is mining tips on how you work so effortlessly with your models. Your posing direction is confident and relaxed at the same time, and the shots you get are sick. I’d love it if a future episode included some focus on how you think about giving direction and some helpful tips… tie it to one of your great gear reviews, if you must. 😂
Great video as always! Seriously torn between adding this camera or the Z8 to my lineup to replace my z7ii that got destroyed in my car accident
To be honest I am looking forward to seeing what Nikon does with the Nikon Z5 Mark 2
hahaha what do you expect from? tell us
I seriously doubt they do any renditions to the Z5. Even though it is a great camera, it’s their entry level camera and needs to intentionally lack features to make you want to upgrade.
Love the colors you were able to create even before the presets/edits. I’ve been in the market for a new full frame camera and system in general but have noticed so many of the Z6III sample shots from others feel over saturated and lack character (if that makes sense). Obviously things can be changed in camera settings and later editing RAW photos, but it was a nice change of pace.
Also, for your full review, if there’s any way to test the partially stacked sensor for banding in LED light environments, would really really appreciate it! I’m planning on doing a lot of concert photography and had an XH2S which removed that issue often, but I couldn’t rely on the autofocus and APCS just didn’t work well with how dark some venues are to shoot.
love your Model
Stella is the best
Great video Lee! BenQ delivers great quality for the price ♥️
🤘🏼
Superb
Everything loooks so dope Lee.. enjoyed thoroughly..based on your calibre and current settings, i think you will be able to replicate same results using a z6ii or even a z5
From what I hear the z6ii sensor might have more dynamic range but I don’t think it’s going to be a huge issue for majority of people. Speed for trade off of slightly less highlight recovery
I've had my Z6III for about a month and am loving it so far. Haven't shot any portraits with it yet, but these turned out fantastic. Definitely curious about the monitor.
Nice! Everyone complaining about dynamic range is valid but it’s not going to hold anyone back from getting great images. I would say though, that highlight recovery is similar to a Fuji camera so apsc. Next to a Sony a7iv it’s noticeable if you have to drastically recover something
@@LeeZavitz I guess the goal will be to shoot so you don’t have to if you can. The DR issue, to me has really been over blown. For the price tag this is a hell of a camera.
Hello :-)
Thank you for your super interesting videos. I havé a question :-) If you had to choose between the z6III and the z7II for portrait studio you would choose which?
Great video itself, but to be fair, I think the fastest f stop you shot in this video was 3.5, with many around f5 or 6.3, which isn't going to test the autofocus very well, and that's where Nikons (and my own Z cameras) have had issues in the past is when shooting primes at 1.8 and maintaining consistent accuracy. Often it can be hit or miss with frequent front focusing during event shooting, despite the camera displaying a focus box in the correct and intended area.
If you do a follow-up review, maybe push it a bit with that 135mm and shoot some wide open ;)
It’s rare to shoot portraits in studio wide open. Usually want the whole face in focus. I hear you on that but this wasn’t a review dedicated to autofocus more just to show image quality and handling first impression. I’m working on a full review but even still autofocus was pretty reliable. People hate hard on this camera which is weird I really enjoyed shooting with it
@@LeeZavitz totally understand, glad to hear you like it so far!
For me it's even different pictures, colors than in reality, I don't know if that's the point :) But still on the plus side
Nice shots. I like the combo of vintage looking cloths and fresnel light, matches well. Didn't see a bloom filter so I guess the clarity slider was the tool of choice to glow up the final output?
For me personally the Z6III is not the camera I wanted it to be. I expected Zf internals in a Z6 body (with a tilt display) for a reasonable price. I looked at the specs of the Z6III for a second, realized that in Germany it is 3/4 the price of a Z8 (with rebates active at that time) and bought the bigger camera.
I wonder how Nikon can claim that the AF system is the same as the one in the Z8 when it is a completely different sensor. I mean, that was possible in the DSLR days but on a mirrorless camera the first thing in the AF-chain is the sensor itself, right? I also struggle to understand how the sensor can read out much faster when the majority of it isn't stacked. I think Nikon needs to do a better job explaining that.
I never touch the clarity slider. I think the autofocus algorithms are what do the dictating on how it tracks more than the autofocus points on the sensor, don’t hold me to it but it’s how I think it is because they always improve with firmware updates
@@LeeZavitz Yeah, might be. Still think Nikon could be a bit more clear about things.
And for the clarity slider: You didn't touch the grain slider either. ;-) Images do look bloomy in a good way.
I think we're all getting sick of the talking head videos. I'm glad there are channels like this that actually showcase talent with the camera.
Is pixel 9 camera test video coming?
If Google sends me one. They didn’t last year and I doubt they will this year because I was critical of the pixel7 pro cameras. Google doesn’t like it when you say bad things
is there the lut classic ports ?
My original classic ports presets are linked in description. But the ones shown in this video aren’t out yet
This Benq or Apple studio display? 👍
Both are great options. BenQ has a better colour panel with great antiglare. Apple has all the extra features that work with Mac computers. Speakers, webcam etc but you have to pay more to get the nano texture antiglare.
@@LeeZavitz Thanks:))
any ETA on the preset release?
I’m hoping to have them all done by end of summer 🤞🏼
Has Canon already fallen out? Keep watching. Nice solution, for studio.
I don’t think people were blown away with the R5mkii even though it is nice upgrade over the OG R5. I feel like Nikon is making the biggest moves right now
hahah canon is the best seller this year.
