    Save yourself $300.00 and buy the 6. Use the $300.00 to buy a good case, screen protector, pixel buds, fast charger, and dinner.

      If Google didnt do such a great job with Ai the 4x optical would be enticing. But the Ai has made the 4x digital insanely good. Im sure the optical is better but not enough for 300. I think the Pixel 6 is better looking as well i like the dark slight bezel makes the screen pop. Sea foam is awesome

    Thanks for the extensive set of photo and video comparisons, really helps!
    I ended up ordering the Pixel 6 with 256 GB, spending an extra $100 instead on memory to enable filling it with more video, pics and music downloads from Spotify or Amazon HD. I think I'll be happier with the smaller, non-curved, flat screen too, easier to handle and pocket. It's still gargantuan next to the Pixel 1 I'm finally replacing!

  • @markwrice

    Very helpful. Thanks! While zooming, The Pro captures more detail EVEN when the Tensor algorithms at times made the 6 digital zoom seem better. But it was often far less accurate (similar to how sharpness in a TV often looks better at first, but loses realism while watching and not actively looking for detail, because the precise detail is fabricated). The 300 may or may not be worth it, but the fabricated detail required for the 6 should not be confused with more realism. The Pro's ability to capture the REAL picture is clear with the cropped photos. The wagon wheel was a great example of how the digital zoom of the 6 at first looked better, but it was algorithmically created, whereas the 6 Pro was capturing what was really there. I don't know which is best price-wise for me, but the 6's need for algorithms at lower zooms is often a drawback that may at times be hidden. (I'd rather store the wagon wheel from the pro even though initially the algorithmically added detail pleases the eye.) AWESOME PHONES either way.

    you could save the 300 bux buy a moment case for the pixel 6 with magsafe built in and a 58mm telephoto lens and a anamorphic lens and still be ahead and have better zoom..or if you want macro on the pixel 6 moment sells a lens for that...in any case youd be using the main camera for all your pixs and video

    Thanks for the super detailed review. Must have been a lot of work to organize all the shots and editing it all together. This helped me a lot for making the decision. I was so conflicted between the 6 and 6 Pro, mostly because I don't really like carrying oversized phones these days. I wasn't sure if the camera or functionality difference was worth the the inconvenience of a big phone. After watching your review, the selfie camera's difference seems quite big, especially I use the selfie camera quite often. And also there's the big price difference. ( and the waitlist ) was wondering which one you've ended up choosing for your daily driver.

    Thank you very much for the beautiful video, in almost all comparisons both are very similarly good, even the 4x zoom comparison shows how similar the pictures are. If you urgently need 20x zoom, it should be worth 300 dollars, otherwise the Pixel 6 is the better deal.

      While I agree somewhat, I have a different view that to me is important. The 4x often looked a bit better on the regular 6, but it's a bit deceptive because it's detail that was filled in with algorithms. FINE for some cases, but the cropping revealed that many times the 6 Pro had more accurate detail even when the non-cropped looked better (somewhat like TV's having sharpness turned up... it looks better on instant intuition, but looks more fake when actually watching TV). IN SHORT: The Pro seems to capture more zoom details that are real, and not just algorithmically created. But if you only want the intuitive "that's cool", the 6 may do better.

    Just going to put out there something I have noticed, since you did the comparison of the telephoto versus the digital zoom. You have to make sure that the camera app actually switched to the telephoto sensor... I have noticed that sometimes when I take a telephoto shot on my 6 pro, the metadata shows that it is an f 1.9, and other times an f 3.5. So clearly, the app is not switching between the sensors. Sent feedback to Google for the same thing.

    For me, the Pixel 6 even has the nicer and sharper pictures in daylight. If you subtract the telephoto lens, it's really nice to see that the rest of the camera is really the same, not like other manufacturers with identical camera systems, for example. an Ultra or Pro model that artificially boosts quality with cheaper software just to make more money.

    thanks so much for this upload. I was debating if I wanted the 6 or 6 pro. i feel like the 6 pro gives a bit more detail . this video made my decision a lot more easier.

    Thank you for the great content! Do you know if Pixel 6/6Pro takes clear and crisp images when using third party camera apps (such as Instagram/Meitu/B612)? I'm coming from Pixel 3XL and it takes great selfies because of the Pixel Visual/Neural Core I believe, but seems like Pixel 6 series does not have it.

      Sorry, I don't use the camera in 3rd party apps given how good the phone camera app is.

    Can we have a list of all the songs that you've used in this video? they all rocks!
    Also, nice review, I'll full go for the Pixel 6 now because he's very similar to the Pro one and is less expensive

      Artist is linked in the description and songs are in the title card of each section of the video. Always a good move to save money.

    This is a great video. I'm still having a hard time picking between the 2. I'll be upgrading from the pixel 2 so a big upgrade regardless. I do photography and will be using my phone camera to take behind the scenes videos to make reels for my social media. I don't like the curved screen on the pro. I keep going back and forth of saving the $300 or just biting the bullet and going with the pro. I'm not use to zooming in with my current camera, but always having more options would be nice. Any help with what I should do?

    If we talk about photos, for all those who do not need a zoom, there are practically no differences. With just over $ 600, you can buy a top cameraphone, but without zoom.

    The only thing I'm curious about is the difference in white balance in some of the shots with the main camera. Where did it came from? Aren't they supposed to be the same?

    great video, nice to see that 2x and 4x zoom is almost the same. At 7x zoom, the Pro Model shows its advantages but most do not zoom more than 2x or 3x times. Overall, the Pixel 6 is the better choice for most. But there are also few for which the Pixel 6 Pro is better if you zoom a lot but these are the least. Bravo what Google has brought to the market 😎

    If I had seen this video before buying a Pixel 6, I would probably have chosen the Pro. It's a bit disappointing that the front camera doesn't support 4k. Thank you for this video!

    I want the Pro for the 4X optical but just don't think the big price difference is justified.

    There seems to be a stark difference in the volume of the front facing video recording. The pixel 6 is far louder.

  • @AllLove0307

    Grant thank you for your content. For the most part the cameras are the same except the selfie shooter (primarily video) and the telephoto, which in some situations can make a difference.
    Do you think it's $300 worth of difference tho? Obviously there's more to it than just the cameras, but still

    • @GrantLikesTech
      @GrantLikesTech  2 года назад +2

      Only if you use zoom a lot. Otherwise the Pixel 6 offers a lot of value.

      @@GrantLikesTech I think that 4x optical looks fantastic. I did have the S21 Ultra at one point and I rarely used the 10x zoom. Every now n then I used the 3x optical lens. I'm more of a wide and ultrawide camera user.
      4x super res zoom looks good enough for me, but can't deny that telephoto on the pro

  • @lukasdvorok6456
    @lukasdvorok6456 2 года назад +1

    For those 4x photos of flowers I am pretty sure telephoto camera was not used due to fact that those flowers were too close, beyond minimal focus distance of telephoto camera. :) There not so much difference in camera. Rather people have to decide if they want to pay extra 300 USD for 120hz LTPO display with better screen to body ratio, better speakers and bigger battery.

    • @GrantLikesTech
      @GrantLikesTech  2 года назад +5

      Up to you if you want to believe it was the telephoto lens or not. I'm letting you know it was since I took the photos. 😉

      @@GrantLikesTech I think Lukas is correct, in that, although you select 4 x zoom in the camera app, the camera will use 4x digital of main camera and not the periscope in certain situations. These include close up and certain low light scenarios.
