Hair in a bun, barefoot, baggy chill pants...Jon's a Pottery Monk here. This was a great video showing another side of pottery, like how calm and still it can be. Also, the toilet bowl scrubber is a great idea!
Happened to watch this before heading over to the studio to tend to a bowl I made yesterday. Loved the video, and thanks for helping out such a worthy cause.
I really don't think he is struggling with exploding pots...lol even the master potters have an occasional blow out. I too DID struggle with this issue, and you would never guess who steered me in the right direction to stop the problem....... you guessed it, it was Jon the Potter. I asked him about my issue and it seems I was in too much of a hurry to bisque and not slow cooking them. I now pre cook all my pots for about three hours just under 200 degrees to ensure they a free of moisture.
The end of your video bought tears to my eyes. As an Aussie who lives not far from our beautiful Kangaroo Island that has been burnt and continues to be burned so badly, it warms my heart the amount of support that Australia is receiving from all over the world. As an Aussie... We thank you 🙏🏻
It’s been such a long time since I worked with pottery. Your videos are great, even nostalgic. I was immediately reminded working with my friend Monee and our teacher Mr. Kruger. My mother still has and uses items I made in art class from the early 1980’s. Thanks for your videos.
Jon. I really loved this change of pace from your normal kind of video. As a fledgling potter myself I have learned a lot of helpful stuff from your videos. Keep on being the awesome person you are.
Not to be disrespectful, your pottery inspires me to create, but honestly I usually watch your videos to relax whenever I'm stressed.. I also admire how everything in your studio is clean and well arranged! Thank you for sharing
At the end of the video you thanked us for watching, but the truth is that we have to thank you for your so much for sharing with us your amazing work, making those videos is time consuming and is tiring. Thank you soooo much!!!!
Hi! This bowl and those coffee mugs are gorgeous. My 5 year old niece was. SPELLBOUND watching you work. Now she wants her Aunt Pani to “get some stuff and make bowls and mugs!”
That's a very pretty fruit bowl, along time a go I took a pottery class and we did all the steps he just did In the video / I made a wall art and a mug ! It was lots of fun !
Your new studio looks amazing! And so clean! Your camera shots are just great in this video, so is the editing. But the greatest is the toilet brush in the glaze bucket! LOL, I will copy you on that one! Thank you for sharing the whole process of making this beautiful bowl!
Realmente bello. Hola, una consulta. El horno es muy caro en Argentina, se puede suprimir ese paso. Sepa disculpar soy principiante. Muchas gracias. Saludos
This is amazing! I started pottery a few days ago and i'm already so in love with the process, great video as always and really nice asmr! Best wishes from Argentina :) (didn't know how to finish this coment so i ask google and that was the recomendation lol)
Love watching dude hands on clay. Actually just uploaded a video like this (not nearly as good) because the calming, natural aspect of pottery, the cyclical nature of the work, just seemed to work with the water sounds of my fish and the fluttering of my birds. It's all a very "return to nature" concept, pottery is, in a way.
Thanks Jon from The Snowy Valleys, Tumut, Australia your thoughts and contribution mean so much. Thanks for sharing your personal situation in your latest post this damn virus will have us all bunker'd down for while, you might be pleased to know i'm sharing your ASMR videos to members of our Tumut Potters Club while we're all socially distancing. Keep it up and thanks.
You have done a great job putting the work involved into perspective. Well done! I have a similar video as a slide show. After the pots come out of the kiln, I show the following: Packing up pots for the show Loading the van Laying the carpet for my booth Setting up my display Stocking the shelves Waiting for customers Customers in the booth (I need to get a shot of a customer buying something) I end with a slide that says “REPEAT”. When someone at a show asks me, “How long does it take to make one of these?” I quickly pull out my trusty iPad and show them all the steps involved. It can take nearly 10 minutes just to explain to them in great detail how it’s made. Invariably, when I’m done with explaining the process thoroughly, they say something like, “I had no idea that it took so much work to make it!” I then exclaim that, “These pots aren’t done yet!”. I tell them that the final step is to “sell them”, and I’m not quite sure when that will happen. I suggest that they could be of assistance with that. I have educated a lot of people about the process of making pottery.
I really liked this one! I remember so long ago asking for a vid like this!! Thanks Dude!! Sorry haven’t watched every video lately just super busy! Getting ready to do the Portland Spring Home and Garden Expo
That was an amazingly well done video! Bravo!! Too bad about the bowl that didn't survive the bisque firing. Btw, bananas and apples should never be stored with avocados :)
Just beautiful! I want so badly to learn, can you recommend what's the best equipment and clay for a newby to start with?? I'm an artist and designer so I'm very visual, but I need a decent wheel that I won't have to sell a kidney for- thanks and blessings from NYC!! 😁💗🌷
So Nice. How to learn in Brasil this thecnique for smaltceram?.. só difucult this quality here from some teatchear. You make so easy. Thanks to show it.
Amazed that he can keep his shirt so clean.
Yes dear
It would stay clean if he took it off
I also respect those centering abilities, pottery is hard
I always manage to get clay in my bangs??
@@nealzeypoo1534 Agreed! ;)
There’s something so relaxing about watching an artist crest something without speaking a word. I love these kind of videos.

Dude this was the best one yet!!!!! It was so fun to see the whole process, thank you! And yes😂 I noticed the exploded pot as well☹️
Wonderful video, thank you . The fires were overwelming and the smoke was horrid...from an Aussie potter.

Lizzy it’s 2:30 am for me rn but schools are closed because of the covid 19
@@friedlipton yeah my school is closed but everyone working in grocery stores are getting double the hours
Lizzy oof

I would love to learn! I'm tired of desks and meetings, I would love to turn my life around and dedicate myself to pottery, to creation.
Happened to watch this before heading over to the studio to tend to a bowl I made yesterday. Loved the video, and thanks for helping out such a worthy cause.
I LOVE that you’re not playing background music. Thank you! It’s so nice to just hear what you’re doing 🙌🏽👏🏽👍🏽🤗
I'm in love with his arms.
It's actually quite soothing watching you make these beautiful pieces!
I can't get my head around how those greyis-whiteish colors became this so vivid and beautiful! Really nice work, thanks for the video!
Im glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with exploding pots!

My Uncle lives on KI and has been very lucky to not lose his home. What a devastating event. All donations big and small help the unlucky ones.

As an Aussie I really appreciate the donation, thanks Jon!
Wow that bowl turned out so cool. Awsome colors.
Loved this one! So much patience to get footage over multiple days to show the entire process with that same one pot and then edit it all together.

Beautiful bowl. Loved the whole “beginning to end” in one video. Thanks for helping such a worthy cause. ❤️
Great video! I loved the simplicity! A series like this would be great!!!

Aw yeah! I love finding content from people in Minnesota! Keep it up!
I love your asmr editions. Do more of asmr editions please. Its nice and relaxing
Love your videos...took a class in college. Love this more than the hand building. Don't have access to wheel or kiln, so I get my "fix" watching.
Awesome! And thanks for helping first responders, people and animals in Australia!
So cool to see the whole process.
Qué genial fabricar tus propios utensilios, tazas, bandejas, etc! 😃.
GREAT VIDEO! This is the first one I didnt fast forward through! I've been a follower for a long time! THANKS!

Nice Jon! And you did your signature glazes from the past which I’ve been missing. 😀
I really like how the glaze went into the trimmed bottom to show the spiral, never thought of that.
I love how you shot this!!!!! Please do more videos like this 😄
Great video, perfect camera work, excellent, well done.
Your art is mesmerizing
Would love to hear what the kiln shelf is made of. Never seen that type before and looks like it would last a long time.
Pat Alger looked like an “advancer” shelf...
Beautiful bowl. Studio is very neat and clean. Most studios I've been to didn't look like that. Lol.

Hello dear I'm coming to discover you and I'm really happy to see your work you inspired me 1000 thanks
Can you do a video on pulling up clay? I just started getting into pottery, and I am having trouble pulling up the clay evenly.😃
More ASMR videos please!! I'm not an ASMR fan but LOVED this video!! #subscribed
That was surprisingly enjoyable! I enjoy your talking/instruction videos but this was very cool to see the entire process. Great algles/shots! 💚
Cool! I asked for this. Loved the mug video too. Only a plate video is missing now 😁.
I've no idea why RUclips recommended me it, yet I still watched the whole thing 🤷🏻♂️

I love your videos. Just wanted to ask you where do you get your Skutt Wheel Leg Extensions. I want one for my wheel.
This is one amazing bowl!!! 👏

Do you have suggestions for a pottery wheel and kiln to start out with??
