  • In this video I'm going to look at a piece of gear that's proven to be much more useful than I originally thought it would be: the humble product turntable. I'll show you the one I use, go over some tips for better results, and share three techniques I've used to get more engaging footage.

      Glad you liked it. This one was fun to make but took a ton of time. I wanted a slightly different setup for each segment. Some definitely worked better than others! I was using a a new LED light mat as my key light too, which added another layer of figuring.
      Thanks for watching.

      Turntables are fun and really can be used in a wide range of ways. IF you're working on your product video game, you might want to check out the "Fellow Filmmaker" channel. She has a practical approach to gear and to the work that I think might be of help.

      It was a fun one to do. I'd just bought my first mat light and thought it would be fun to try and slightly adjust my position and framing for each shot. Looking back at this, some worked better than others!

    FANTASTIC thank you for producing this video. I’ve been looking for a fair priced good turntable and you have helped me immensely! I have now made the purchase from your link at a total of $187 (AUD) Inc taxes & shipping to me here in Western Australia 🇦🇺. Yes we pay through the nose down here but I guess you get what you pay for. Again thank you for all the helpful tips on creating great shots using this piece of kit. Merry Christmas 🎄 🤝🏻 May 2023 be all that you want & more!

      Thanks Chris! This was a fun one to make. I'd set a goal to use just one LED mat light and try to change the angle for each segment (and use different music for each section). Some worked better than others, but I'm pleased with the results.

    some brilliant ideas here. your work is amazing!! even down to the little, unassuming Broll clips you featured with the rotating lenses defocussed in the background, that was awesome.

      Thanks Tobias, you obviously have an eye for quality!😂
      I try to do new things in every video to sharpen my skills. Int this one I tried to up my b-roll game and tried to set up each segment at a different angle within the same space. Some angles worked better than others for sure.

      Thanks.
      I try to do something different in all my videos (from a production standpoint). In this one I wanted to shoot each segment from a slightly different angle in the same space. I got so focused on the angles that I feel like I neglected the lighting a bit. I'm pleased with the final result, but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. The beauty of RUclips, right?

    I have a large object 36 feet long and about 10 feet high that is in a retail store. I have an Insta 360 ONE RS 1 inch edition. I want to be able to capture this item, which is a swingset with a slide and a little treehouse, and as if it were on a turntable allow a user to spin it around in a circle to see it from all angles all sides and have the backgrounds removed so none of the other items in the store show. Is it possible on any platform?

    • @MattSpaugh
      @MattSpaugh  Год назад

      You need a 3D modeler, not a turntable.

  • @justonbrazda3846
    @justonbrazda3846 8 месяцев назад +1

    @5:00 you say you shoot 60fps so you can slow it down. Then in the next sentence you say you can’t slow your footage down only speed it up? Which is it?

    • @MattSpaugh
      @MattSpaugh  8 месяцев назад

      I publish the majority of my content at 24 fps. So, I shoot at 60fps in order to slow it down in post. If you don't shoot at a higher frame rate than your final project will be edited in, you cannot slow the footage down.
      Sorry for any confusion, thanks for watching.

      @@MattSpaugh all good points. I can see that your turntable is a Hi-Fi turntable to be treated with care. I'm thinking though, since I have a heavy duty dj turntable with a pitch control, it will serve my purpose as a spin-platter.
