In this video, we’re looking at the ECR Stage 2 Surron Ultra Bee, which features all of those same mods from Stage 1, but we’ve added: EBMX X9000 Controller: bit.ly/EBMXX9000 EBMX X9000 Ultra Bee Controller Adapter Kit: bit.ly/X9000UltraAdapterKit ECR Complete Factory Tuned Fork: bit.ly/ECRUltraCompleteFork The ECR Stage 1 Build: KKE 21/18 Ultra Bee Wheels: bit.ly/UltraBeeKKEWheels KKE 53T Sprocket: bit.ly/KKEUltraSprocket Roller Chain: bit.ly/UltraChainNonORing KKE foot pegs: bit.ly/KKEUltraPegs ODI handlebars: bit.ly/ODIUltraBars
So I was sure when I got my ultra I’d do 21/18. I have the 19/16 on my lightbee that was absolutely built out 72v with the x9k suspension and all….not I got my ultra and am wondering how it would feel with the 19/16….did you try the 19/16 or would you be interested in doing a comparison?? Thanks for what you do Tucker! We love your content and all you do for the community.
Question, did you try the EBMX controller with the stock sprocket? Don’t want to lose top speed going to a 53 tooth, I am also running a Shinko 18×4 trials tire, so TopSpeed stock with stock sprocket is 63 miles an hour, would like a little more torque, hopefully don’t lose too much top speed. Also, when you go to the EBMX 80v battery, wondering if the stock sprocket might be better for that? Last question, I did put a roller chain on and broke it to fit, will probably have to add another master link and more chain back with a 53 tooth sprocket, where can I get another master link, if you don’t have them? Thanks in advance.!
any power upgrades for storm bee to make stage 1/2 yet? curious how it impacts top end as well as torque. i feel like the storm bee just needs a little more on the track. or i need a stark varg lol
2 weeks ago I finished my 2023 Gas Gas EC300 electric conversion. Also on my first ride last week, I crashed into a tree breaking my arm. I wasn't expecting it to have so much power it caught me off, guard. So now I have to wait to ride it again. Not used to not having a clutch and the instant power coming on as it did, lol.
I second this!! We had a head to head with the LBX!! This would be a much more worthy opponent!! How about another MX track test comparing it to the stock version! How about a head to head with the freeride? Thanks for all the content!
Did some testing, running 18/21 with Shinko trials tires, roller chain, stock sprocket and controller, some tight woods and fast fire road, on and off the gas, 1hr 30 min ride, average speed of 16.7 miles an hour, top speed of 54.5 mph, range was 25.3 miles before battery was depleted/on last bar and flashing, battery ended at 18%. Going to try 53T sprocket next to compare. Info, collected running Strava, which has been double checked for accuracy.
Best and most interesting reviews around. One thing I find missing is actually weighing these bikes. So much claimed weight is really off that I would like to see these bikes on a scale. When I had my 250 and 300 gas enduro bikes I was hard pressed to get them down to less than 275 lbs with lights and a full tank even though it was claimed so much less. How about actually weighing your ktm xcw and comparing it to the Freeride, Ultra Bee, and others when you review. Would give us a lot of good info that way.
Tucker ; if you'd like a smoother, grippier ride up those rocky creek beds, try the Kenda Trailmaxx rear tire ( comes stock on the Freerides ), it's perfect for that stuff. The IRC ix09W gekkota is great too if you need a knobby, lighter than the VE33 since it's only a 2 ply, full gummy rubber & super compliant carcass. Either tire is like having xtra suspension ! BTW - a footpeg lowering bracket can't come soon enough, I'm 5'8 & it feels cramped / awkward when standing.
I was the first one in nyc with the x9000 installed on my uktra when the kit dropped. Its incredible. Now o have a 18/21 with 244 5.10 in the rear and 244 3.00 21 for the front. And i have a 54 with a non o ring chain and the bike is running mint. All thats left is for my battery thats coming in the mail and maybe the new ebmx motor down the line. I run 3kws mode 1 10kws mode 3 17kws 800 phase amps mode 3.
Do you have to modify the stock battery for the ebmx 9k or the the controller do all the work? There's no way i could afford a battery but when i heard you had the controller on the stock battery i was very intrigued!
What would you compare the power to on a gas bike? I now eletric motors traditionally make a lot more torque than HP by nature but is it equivalent to like a 250 or 450 race bike? Hard to judge these kinda things.
All this testing is going to be a huge benefit for me assuming next spring availability for the Ultra is still good. Pretty much every bike I ride has to be modified, any starting point recommendations for someone 6'4"? Particular Bar, riser, seat etc? I'm also wondering with the different wheel sets if dropping the footpeg height at all is a bad idea. I haven't found an advantage to being tall other than grabbing top shelf items for old ladies at the grocery store. Oh well. Thanks for what you do, excellent content, always.
@jnew3755 Awesome! Would definitely recommend doing the 21/18 wheels with the 100/100-18 rear tire. It adds a significant amount of height. Additionally, some taller handlebars would help as well. The tallest we sell in the ODI is the RC High Bend. I suspect there will be an adjustable peg mount kit and some tall seat options coming soon but currently the options are bars and wheels to make the bike bigger.
@@ElectricCycleRiderthere's no problem with geometry? I don't know how to describe it in English but I saw people discuss about adding 21/18 is destroying that "light and smooth" feeling of stock ultra. And they say it is not even about power, even 15kw+ with 21/18 there's "still a geometric problem" to that bike
I am running 110/100-18 rear and 90/90-21 front Also 500 lb rear spring Rox 2” adjustable riser 6’ 205lbs Working really good Suspension is balanced now and working much better.
I got everything except that controller, when will it be available? Bikes insane, puts a huge smile on my face every time I ride it, even around on the road, total blast.👍👍👍
@@pauldanrich3919 Awesome to hear you're loving it! We've got the Ultra Bee adapter kits available right now and should have more X9000's arriving in the coming week.
I’ve been hunting through the wiring….wanting to put a momentary switch (maybe the warp9 horn button to wire for reverse) and a light switch (maybe a warp 9 light switch to have an on off for the headlight) would be wiring myself….this is if the after market doesn’t come out with something at some point…. My question is have you looked into getting rid of the stock display and mess now that the x9k is on? I get really distracted by the mess on the bars. Constantly hitting buttons as I ride mostly moto and really move around on the bike a lot. Also are the hall effects sensors on the wheels even necessary since the TCS doesn’t work with 21-19? Or the ebmx x9k?
For my riding I am very happy with S mode in the stock UB. Would changing to the 9000 controller allow me to dial in a little more range but still keep the power in between D and S mode???
Would be really interesting to see an Ultra Bee with a 16/19 wheelset like some of the hot rod Light Bees are running. Would it be too low, too long? Or would it be like a heavily modded Light Bee with just the smaller rear wheel and thicker profile tyre? 🤔
@mattcgtx4809 So far it's been comparable to stock, which surprised me. I attribute a fair amount of that to the 53T sprocket though. Seeing roughly 26 miles of singletrack riding at this pace, switching between the power modes, which is what I was getting on the stock bike with stock wheels and stock sprocket in Sport Mode. In terms of each individual mode, I haven't done any real testing on that yet, usually running it in different modes throughout the ride.
@Surfratglass I'll weigh it and get back to you! The wheels are the only real added weight but it's probably about 10 pounds heavier than stock the way that it sits. Expecting sub 200!
Great overview. Been waiting for a test of this controller. Looks to be a worthy addition. Can the stock motor handle that much power on an ongoing basis? I imagine stage 3 will include either the EBMX battery or the KO motor. Or both 😈
Can you compare this to something like a ktm 150? My surron lbx is a bit too light duty I don’t have a lot of confidence slamming it into obstacles, worried about damage.
so i have the Talaria 3X, love it just wish there were ways to get more mileage with it. I see most mods on these bikes for power deliveries i was wondering if there was something that could help with mileage. Anyone knows anything?
