Or if you want to chip in $1 or $2 a month you can support me on Patreon: www.patreon.com/joolzguides Thanks everyone....one of these days I'll be a star!!!!!!!
The woman you chatted with on Tower Bridge is my cousin! I never thought I would see someone I know on one of your videos. I was actually in London at the same time. We are all from Canada.
This was just wonderful for me as I'm a 73 year old living in Canada. I lived in London until I was nine and then when I was ten we moved to Canada. What a nice way to see my old home. Made me homesick to see some of the old London landmarks. Thank you so much.
My dear late Mum used to take me to an attraction once a week after I had attended Great Ormond Street Hospital thereby rendering what was really a trial into a treat....clever lady. Once we climbed all those stairs to the top of St Paul's...phew....bless her. Fond fond memories. Been in Scotland now 47 years so fantastic to watch Joolz tours from the comfort of a comfy chair. Xx
Joolz Guides - London History Walks - Travel Films Hey isn’t that pronounced rayf or raif? Lol I always thought RALPH was pronounced RALF but alas if you are a movie star it’s pronounced with an i sound lol. I wonder why that is? Hmmn
When I visit Westminster Abbey I make a point of paying my respects to a British officer often forgotten in the mists of time. I find having a goal or a purpose for a visit makes it more personal.
I used the London Pass in 2004, it was brilliant, especially for avoiding the queues. My advice is, if you have the time don't try to do more than two of the big attractions in one day. eg. I did Westminster Abbey in the morning and the Cabinet War Rooms in the afternoon, St Paul's in the morning and the Tower of London in the afternoon, etc. My absolute favourite was Hampton Court Palace, I was there for about 7 hours and still didn't do everything. It is BRILLIANT but overlooked by many tourist because it is outside the centre of London, it's totally worth the short train journey to see it. Get a London Pass, you won't regret it.
@@paulos.martinsjr.339 Hi there, it really depends how long you will be in London and what you wish to see, personally I'd go for a longer pass perhaps 5 or 7 days, I'm not sure what lengths they offer now as it was 18 years ago that I used mine. Whatever pass you choose it's definitely worth it in my opinion especially for avoiding the queues. Hope you enjoy your time in London it's a fabulous city. 😊
@@cryptomonkey6142 thank you once again...I'll spend a week only...however I'll visit friends in another town ner London and will probably stay over a night there...so 6 days in London...maybe I'll visit two or three tourist attractions such as Kensigton Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London...wanna see a show at some theater but then I don't think the pass will be useful....thanks again!
I just wanted to take a moment to compliment you on your fantastic RUclips channel. Your content is always engaging, informative, and a pleasure to watch. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us in the future!
Thank you sir! I've enjoyed watching you and have subscribed to your amazing channel. Im planning to take my 72 year old mum on our first visit to London on May next year. I'm so excited and looking forward to visitinv your city❤️🎉 thanks for the great tips❤️
My father converted the War Rooms so as to make them suitable to receive visitors. Before any conversion work was done, he showed me around them in their state as-abandoned.
The two high level walkways on Tower Bridge, A: Brace the two towers, and B: Where meant to be used by pedestrians to cross the river when the bridge was open, to allow merchant ships to reach the warehouses in the Pool of London. Which at the time meant they could be open for long periods.
I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve ever watched this video lol Somehow I assumed I had already seen it but nope lol. So after 2&1/2 years I finally watched it yay! Cheers
God I’d need a pint after that fantastic tour! If I ever get to London, I definitely would go on your tour Jools! Id like to go where my grandfather Donald was born in Woodgreen, my great grandfather Joseph was born in Tottenham, my second great grandfather William born in St James Clerkenwell, third great grandfather born Lincoln Inn and finally Samuel born in hospital Endell Street, Holburn London. So far up on the family tree. Incidentally, Joseph was a brass foundry manufacturer on number 65 Moreland Street, City Road London as they were four generations as far I can tell. Other side of the family as a publican.
Oh, THAT'S what that monument is for! I've taken the tube past it so many times. And I don't think I'll forget the expression "tapping the admiral" in a hurry, even though I don't drink at all. :-D
Love the new video Julian! Can't wait to hit these new sites in London when we visit again. Everyone ... book your walking tour with ole Joolzy ... you won't regret it!
Really a nice video! Thanks you very much. This reminds me when I was in London last year with my family. We hope come back as soon as possible! Greetings from Chile.
I'm so glad I found you!!! We will be in London for 3 days in October...going on to Paris and then Switzerland! We are from TEXAS!!! I've literally had most of the questions you are addressing in my brain! Can't wait to watch all of them!!!
That would indeed describe anyone trying to get their money's worth from a London Pass. I thought about it, but I don't think I would have saved anything, especially given the short time window relative to cost. Your mileage may vary.
On my last trip to the UK, I climbed the Tower Bridge. To the top, across the bridge, down the stairs and the engine room: 743 steps. At 78, wow, what a gal!
Two weeks ago, first visit to London with a London Pass. Went to Westminster Abbey, showed the line attendant the pass and was sent to the end on the long line with the ticket buyers. Went to Churchells War Room, showed the Pass and was sent to the end of the line of ticket buyers. I overhead the attendant tell another tourist that they give preference to people who buy tickets ahead online. I did see others go in ahead of everyone else. Went to Tower of London. There was no line attendant and I wasn't about to cut line to test the pass. There was no separate line for others. Bottom line, the Pass did not allow me to avoid long lines. (Tower was not long).
Yes, that's annoying. It helped at Tower Bridge but not many other places that I visited. It does have it's advantages but only if you are super meticulous and plan every detail. (They didn't pay me for this video by the way but they did give me a free pass). I think it depends on the nature of your trip and how many places you are going. It's all rather complicated, as with everything these days. I hope you still had a good time.
Wow I did not know about that a London pass contains all these places, our driver from waterloocars.co.uk has suggested us but we were on a short trip so we just visited few places and enjoyed as much as we can .
Your clips showed up randomly in my newsfeed and I sure wish that I watched this before my Platinum Jubilee visit.
