I seriously don't get why some people called the video "cheap", they have no idea. They made multiple sets that were completely handmade in a pretty DIY/cartoonish style with A LOT of props, the "HERE WE GO" part was made of stop-motion, they made a whole boat, an island made completely out of clay, there was special lightning for the night scenes, crowns for the space parts, animation, etc. And yet people dare to complain about like two scenes (the Dayeon in space part and the clouds final scene) for using green screen and looking like "cheap CGI" when I'm pretty sure the style was COMPLETELY intentional. lmao
i agree but the way dayeon is filmed is really basic cinematography and not the most flattering for her (the lighting + angle + editing) the rest of the video is very high budget but i cannot deny the contrast if that one scene
compared to wadada (where you can literally see how half-baked the sets looked like), this is definitely a level up. not too over the top but also concept-fitting.
@@chaeuju5657 oh that one dayeon scene REALLY bothered me :S it just didnt felt right (i know they're trying to tie back to their whole spacey concept but damn)
I feel like they actually did well with the line distribution this time each member had several moments to shine and they probably took a lot of advice or some critiques from fans about certain members who get what and which fits visually and sounds good together. Finally my girls finally Hikaru and Bahiyyih got lines and sections for this comeback, of course, it's way better than wa da da but them releasing this in the summer is perfection!!! such a summer bop!☀
Yeah, it wasn't fair at all in Wadada but, they should've given Yeseo more adlibs to make up for 11.5 seconds of lines- She rocked this era and def owned it. La Voya9e was one of her best, we all know that Yeseo is extremely experienced in the industry, so she knows how to work her facial expressions and not overdo them.
This sample sounds kinda a bit like Sistar Shake it. Overall Kep1er really is out there setting summer banger standards for 4th gen ggroups. Le Voya9e is also a breath of fresh air.
I believe they should stick with a concept that fits all members. Which is Up!'s bubbly & energetic concept & MVSK dark & moody concept. To me, Wa Da Da's girl crush concept does not fit all members. It mostly highlighted Dayeon & Hikaru more than anything else. Up! felt like a celebration of all members. Their performance videos for Up! just highlights this for me. Because even yeseo, which had the least lines *SHONE* so much that you wouldn't feel it.
Yeah I also feel like Kep1er fits the bubbly concept better than the girl crush type. Like, don’t get me wrong I absolutely love their The Boys and Can’t turn me down performances in Queendom but their Pool Party + Rollin’ remix just hits different. It just felt like a it is a performance with great vibe and great chemistry and teamwork.
the more kep1er goes on they remind me red velvet in the sense that they can be a group the captures all concepts and expertly. I personally wasnt a huge fan of wadada (but loved mask) but this music video made me realize that wadada just didnt showcase their talents enough, like these girls are so taleeeented and when they come together as a group like this its wild and clicks so well ~ im excited to see what they do in the future and im now really sad they are a temporary group :(
@@MargieLeigh3 I’m a mix of both of you lol! I LOVED wadada when it came out and its one of my top kpop songs, and I wasn’t sure about Up at first but now I love it just as much. Yet weirdly mvsk is one of my least fave b sides lol. Also I totally agree with the red velvet comparison, I hope they go in that direction where they have both a teen crush concept and cute concept that they alternate between.
If this is Kep1er's sound, then count me in. I can feel some SNSD's influence, and as a Sone, I could not be happier. Kep1er has always referred to Girl's Generation as their role model, so I am kinda excited about what their next steps will be ❤️ 2nd gen meets 4th gen, I am here for that!
For some reason, when they performed this song, each part felt more cohesive to my ears-I think maybe because the choreography tied everything together. My favorite easter egg is the "rainbow" is actually the core of a sun, two suns being their debut concept. It also explains the sign they are searching for.
Kep1er came back strong with this comeback. The title track was literally such a fun vibe and the rest of the album is great. Also happy that Bahiyyah got lines 😭😭
The Pop Bubbly Fun concept suits them way better than the supersonic-like wadada one, this song is excellent, if WADADA was just a draft, Up! is a way better proofread work, the line distribution is getting better, the screentime too, I'm so glad to finally hear and see princess Hiyyih sing a bit more and shine
I really like the set design especially with the set at the second chorus. You would think it’s a rainbow but they are actually dancing infront of the suns core it’s really clever and it fits the identity of Kep1er being the sun girls
Listening to this song for the second time made me tear up while driving. It’s so good??? Especially from the bridge to the end - it’s fun, but has a retro sounds that reminds me of 2nd and early 3rd gen. There’s this great delay in the chorus that reminds me a little Kim Lip’s Eclipse, if it were dipped in sunshine ☀️ ☁️
My favorite thing about this comeback is just how FUN it is. Both the song and MV are colorful and fun! This is 100x better than wadada imo. I was quite disappointed with their debut but absolutely LOVE this comeback. Excited to see the music show performances!
if you love the music video, wait till you see their comeback stage bc it made me love the song 10x’s more !!! I like how you noted that they feel like a unit in this, that’s exactly how I felt when they ended Queendom 2 vs when they began. they’ve just grown immensely these past few months since their debut. also the whole mini album is fantastic ✨
and they’ve mentioned quite a bit that they feel closer too-you can honestly see how much more relaxed and confident they feel on stage now that they have debut & q2 under their belt. it sucks that the girls had to go through a difficult time but im glad they seem so much improved and happier on the other end of it🥺
I really love concepts like this. It reminds me of I.O.I Very Very Very. I wasn't too much into Kep1er debut songs, but this song and MV absolutely got my attention. This was perfect
i loooveeee this song. we got two summer bangers yesterday with "flip that" and "up" and im so happy they're so different so we can enjoy two kinds of fun girlyness!!!! girl groups are running kpop this year!!!!
i am seriously SO in love with kep1ers summer sound, like UP in itself is just so catchy. i especially love that house/dance section in the song! it's so pretty. i think you should really check out la voya9e and it's stage, it's so beautiful seriously. this time around everyone is highlighted and line distribution is pretty fair!
WA DA DA grew on me a lot, but UP is straight up an amazing song, the chorus is SOOO catchy, and the kind of 'SM style' R&B verses before the second and third chorus give the song a very smooth and vibey, almost sexy touch to it, I LOVE IT. Also the producers, full8loom, you mentioned them a few times on patreon during listening parties and I've been saying for a while now that they KNOW how to produce music and make it fit the right group, they're known for producing a lot of WJSN music and with Kep1er's 'Up' it SHOWS, 11/10! 🥳
I love how the music video accentuates the member's natural hues and their concept as a group . Not saying it's intentionally tailored to this month, but it's just great seeing the elements visually amplifying current celebratory vibes.
Its a complete 180 it feels like they hired a really talented people behind it, especially if you listen to their other songs like le voyage, good night and my favorite would be rewind. As for the MV visuals it reminds me of icecream. Really all in.
I'll absolutely admit I'm a little biased towards Bahiyyih (A lot biased lmfao), but the debut has always seemed to me like Swing/Wake one genuinely didn't expect her to be so popular with international fans and whether they felt that opinion was justified they definitely made up for it in this come back. Not even getting into the 100/10 MV, absolutely mind blowing song overall, and genuinely involved and well executed choreo on this one. This is easily a Top 3 song for this year on my list already lmao.
Up until this day ITZY has been holding the place for my favorite first comeback of ANY kpop artist but goodness gracious did Kep1er steal that!!!! I’m straight up addicted to this song and even though I’ve already listened to it a lot it still scratches my brain. This year is honestly littered with potential SOTYs but UP! is trying to be my favorite 2022 release and I don’t know what to do about it.
I love kepler because chaehyuns SM training, mashiros jyp training, yeseo’s busters experience, and yujin’s cube experience combine and give the group such a fun performance aspect
The song was produced by full8loom and they produced a lot of sistar songs so there’s a huge chance it was a sistar sample!! And without exaggeration and while being fully objective hiyyih’s dugeun part is the best on the song!! I love the song entirely but there’s something in that part that makes it so addictive!!
So glad you liked this comeback. It was insane!! That sample you compared to Sistar, I heard it too. Basically it's a synth sax sound and it's done in the same style as Sistar's "Shake It". Not the same sample mind you, just the styling is reminiscent of it. Word of warning if you do an album listen, you might actually cry. LOL!! Enjoy and I hope you and Blaire feel better soon!
@@formoftherapy Well let's just say some of your favorite producers put their souls into these tracks. Full8loom, the Papermaker produce team and just to add insult to injury. Ashley Alisha put one of her best songs to date on this album! Oh and as a side bar, their performance "Le Voya9e" B-side does what MVSK did but in a heartbreaking feel good way!
Bahiyyih is so versatile she can slay any concept, and versatility is one of the best trait of a kpop artist and she's a STAR in the making. Imagine bringing out her full potential promise she can surpass A LOT of artist there!
love this mini album! i think full8loom did a really good job with this song and differentiating this song from their songs for Izone and WJSN. also Le Voya9e is such an amazing live stage!
as someone who was extremely disappointed with wadada im so happy with this song!!! i went into it with low expectations bc when i had high expectations for wadada i was crushed but !!!!!! as soon as the first chorus hit i knew it was a bop
Half of them fit well with a bright concept like this and half on badass concepts. I would like to see them perform in different colors and concepts since they have different members with different styles and preferences. In short, Kep1er, as a group, are all-rounders. Ever since the final lineup was revealed, I said the same thing.
Yes I love kep1ers new song and it’s definitely the way that i get to hear the voices of everyone more also the music video is so aesthetically pleasing. I was also trying to dirigiré out that trumpet since i listened to it and you nailed it, it most definitely sounds like sistars shake it which i also love
i feel like almost everything done this comeback was done 10x better than with their debut, the song itself is better, the mv is higher quality, and all the members got to shine, not to mention we got 4 more original songs and i love all of them!
I just feel like they did their job better. They producer the song well, gave the parts to the right people, no one is without a part that shows their talent and the song is Soooo good, also the mv was so well produced.I loved this song from first listen and just made me love kepler more.
I liked your reaction and I agree with what you said about Bahiyyih, she has that vibe that suits her very well in a more mature or elegant style like in Mvsk (same with Xiaoting). She is still young so in the future I have no doubt that we will be able to see her unfold in a more mature style.
The best thing about Up is that all member are able to fit in to the concept. I feel like that's the reason why the members are all visible. I just know these girls will just keep getting better and better everytime. Also, hope you get well soon PD💕!
PD! I'm totally aging myself right now🙈 but as an ex-Raver/Club Kid that sample rang true in my ears as old skool HOUSE MUSIC! Even the footwork at 12:54 is VERY reminiscent of how househeads/clubkids danced back in the day!😍 Search for Stardust 'The Music Sounds Better with You' & Armand Van Helden's 'You Don't Know Me.' I think some of the samples may have come from there, but on a higher BPM. Sorry I had to music nerd out for a second, but this song made me happy!😊
10:00 i think it might be shake it (or touch my body) by sistar since thats what i hear the most for sure ! also for 11:48 (mashiros part) am i insane or does it remind you we go by fromis_9?? i cant pin point it but for sure it gives me the same vibes
The best reaction so long.. i love how u listen whole song.. without pause the music..and second section is the reaction and ur personal opinion.. . Thanks reaction as a PRO..
I love that this song showcase what the girls really specialize and what else they can do. And also i love the bridge part it's like a song that maybe use on a fantasy genre film or animation like its so good and i like the concept so much, because it's not the cute or girl crush concept its more on just easy going song and also i love that every member has a killing part!!!
I hope you get to watch their 'Le Voya9e' performance too. I think it would support on what you've said that this comeback focused on Kep1er as a group. Because if not for their performance, I would also not be able to identify who's singing on certain lines as they sound so the same (in the sense of unity).
this was absolutely everything i could have wanted from a kepi comeback-the album is so cohesive and GREAT. they also just look so HAPPY performing it, which really makes me happy. and even though yeseo had comparatively the least screentime in this mv, a) she still looks AMAZING with her hair and styling and b) i was really happy to see how much they highlighted her in their promoted bside le voya9e to make up for that! with 9 members ik its not easy, but it seems w1 is FINALLY starting to figure out how to manage our girls lol
Line distribution and screen time were both *way* better this time 10:03 Yeah, either this song sampled Sistar's "Touch My Body" or both songs sampled the same sound from somewhere else.
This song is growing on me the more I listen to it. This really suited all the members and the line distribution is definitely a great improvement, I was able to notice all the members. Also the fact that they put Hikaru and Youngeun on the dance break is so pleasing to me.
The set reminds me of Block B's HER and Yesterday, as well as EXO-CBX's Hey Mama. Very dollhouse like sets with bright colors. Very much Aqua Barbie Girl vibes
Kep1er solidify their stance as all rounder concept girl group I think , wadada tends to the girlcrush vibe while Up is on the cutie summer vibe. Nevertheless, both concept I think suits them well, lets wait for the next comeback..
Maybe I’m summer bop biased, maybe a little Kep1er biased, but this is probably one of my favorite girl group comebacks so far this year. Something about it just sticks with you and it’s one of those songs where you can’t help but find yourself dancing along, absolute perfection
I feel like Wa Da Da, the song, the video, was made in so little time after the end of GP999 that the song was written and the mv concept was planned for whoever made it into the group. I think that's why "wa da da" part of the chorus leans more girl crush while the "oh oh oh" part of the chorus is cuter and brighter. They didn't know who the members would be or what would fit them best. Add on wanting to avoid being too similar to IZ*ONE and also the competitiveness of the 4th gen landscape. So many concepts are already covered, and it is hard to stand out. But Up! feels like it was created with the members of Kep1er in mind. Their energy which suits a brighter concept, especially for a summer comeback. Their teamwork which I see in the way there are so many moments in the choreo that require them to be gracefully synchronized. I see this especially in the arm movements in the chorus. I still hope to have a cool concept like MVSK for a title track someday.
Trying to decode the song structure: Verse 1 - Rap(s) - Prechorus - Chorus - Post Chorus - Verse 2(Rap) - Prechorus - Bridge(?) - 2nd Chorus - Post Chorus - Bridge(?) again or Verse 3 - Dance Break - Outro. I consider Hikaru and Dayeon's similar Rap verses ending with "baro jiguemiya" and "ija shijagiya" to be the prechoruses, and the "Woo gotcha" sections as the Post Choruses.
And yet people dare to complain about like two scenes (the Dayeon in space part and the clouds final scene) for using green screen and looking like "cheap CGI" when I'm pretty sure the style was COMPLETELY intentional. lmao
you are so right
i agree but the way dayeon is filmed is really basic cinematography and not the most flattering for her (the lighting + angle + editing) the rest of the video is very high budget but i cannot deny the contrast if that one scene

I love the song entirely but there’s something in that part that makes it so addictive!!
my favorite kep1er song tbh
So glad you liked this comeback. It was insane!! That sample you compared to Sistar, I heard it too. Basically it's a synth sax sound and it's done in the same style as Sistar's "Shake It". Not the same sample mind you, just the styling is reminiscent of it. Word of warning if you do an album listen, you might actually cry. LOL!! Enjoy and I hope you and Blaire feel better soon!
WHAT?
Kep1er really have become one of my faves.!
I love this part 3:07 specifically! There's also something very f(x) 4 Walls in certain parts (bridge, dance break and chorus) and I love it!
1:43 Verse
1:58 Verse with rap
2:18 Chorus
2:34 Refrain/Post Chorus
2:50 Verse with rap
3:06 Bridge
3:22 Chorus
3:38 Refrain/Post Chorus
3:55 Bridge
4:11 Break
4:26 Post Chorus/Outro
Watch “Hit Ya” by Lappilus it’s also their debut song and was released yesterday too
the song already entered my top 10 of this month on spotify stats 😭😭
Half of them fit well with a bright concept like this and half on badass concepts. I would like to see them perform in different colors and concepts since they have different members with different styles and preferences. In short, Kep1er, as a group, are all-rounders. Ever since the final lineup was revealed, I said the same thing.
This song has grown on me exponentially!! I think that's sometimes the secret to kpop; it needs multiple listens
Shouldn't a song be good first listen...?
Hiyyih ate her parts up!! her degeun degeun degeun is my favorite part of the whole song!
UP! is so fun and colorful song : perfect for this summer
I LOVE IT
Yes I love kep1ers new song and it’s definitely the way that i get to hear the voices of everyone more also the music video is so aesthetically pleasing.
This and Flip That have been on constant loop for me. They're such good summer songs 😁
I liked your reaction and I agree with what you said about Bahiyyih, she has that vibe that suits her very well in a more mature or elegant style like in Mvsk (same with Xiaoting). She is still young so in the future I have no doubt that we will be able to see her unfold in a more mature style.
This is my summer song of 2022 I love it so much 😭
The chorus and choreo is awesome, the girls are smiling and having so much fun~ as a group~!
This was definitely a huge upgrade from Wa Da Da and I really loved this cb! Just hope WakeOne will do better on the budget for their M/V’s
I love everything about that comeback for kep1er girls and for sure it's a summer bop
i could watch you talk about kep1er for HOURSSSSSS always spot on
The best thing about Up is that all member are able to fit in to the concept.
Line distribution and screen time were both *way* better this time
10:03 Yeah, either this song sampled Sistar's "Touch My Body" or both songs sampled the same sound from somewhere else.
I LOOOOOVE this comeback! It's so unexpected and refreshing at the same time!
ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT, Up! owned this summer
This is hands down my favorite comeback this year it’s just so fun and exciting I love it so much
Feel better soon man. Much love 🧡🙏🏿
This was such a great comeback for them. Definitely a summer bop for the playlist! ☀️
yujin ATE she's SO pretty
This comeback made me Stan Kep1er!So bright and energized and all the girls shined!
This song is growing on me the more I listen to it. This really suited all the members and the line distribution is definitely a great improvement, I was able to notice all the members. Also the fact that they put Hikaru and Youngeun on the dance break is so pleasing to me.
Sorry to hear you’ve been sick :,( hope you feel better
living for the Bahiyyih love
YES! The sample kind of sounds like "Shake It" but pitched/sped up.
Kepler really takes pedestrian to a whole new level. Im so happy for bahiyih
SONG OF THE SUMMER!!!
The set reminds me of Block B's HER and Yesterday, as well as EXO-CBX's Hey Mama. Very dollhouse like sets with bright colors. Very much Aqua Barbie Girl vibes
I personally do think it's a sistar sample from "Shake it" cause it really reminded me of it
Kep1er solidify their stance as all rounder concept girl group I think , wadada tends to the girlcrush vibe while Up is on the cutie summer vibe. Nevertheless, both concept I think suits them well, lets wait for the next comeback..
Absolutely obsessed with this song
this comeback ate ✨ super fun and catchy, and all the members shined 🫶🏻
Maybe I’m summer bop biased, maybe a little Kep1er biased, but this is probably one of my favorite girl group comebacks so far this year. Something about it just sticks with you and it’s one of those songs where you can’t help but find yourself dancing along, absolute perfection
Thanks for loving Up!🥰
thank u for reacting to kep1er!
I really love this comeback the mv is so brigth like the song is chill but upbeat refreshing fun
Trying to decode the song structure: Verse 1 - Rap(s) - Prechorus - Chorus - Post Chorus - Verse 2(Rap) - Prechorus - Bridge(?) - 2nd Chorus - Post Chorus - Bridge(?) again or Verse 3 - Dance Break - Outro.
I consider Hikaru and Dayeon's similar Rap verses ending with "baro jiguemiya" and "ija shijagiya" to be the prechoruses, and the "Woo gotcha" sections as the Post Choruses.
this mv is insanely good, they are making energy from the insides of a lemon? 10/10
