Good news! You may remember me (but probably not) from past comments you've responded to about advice for auditioning for tenors and as it turns out, I'm going to be playing them this marching season in our high school band. Thanks for the advice and the enjoyable videos you make👌
@@ronin8993 well, it depends. Are you prominent in the instrument you normally play? Cause if so, you might not want to leave it because it could hurt your section. That could be the reason he doesn't want you to. In this case I'd say do what is best for the band. If you'll hurt your section by leaving it then stay there but if you could go to drumline without it being too hurtful to your section then I'd say go for it, even if he doesn't want you in it
You always have a special way of reminding me that I am a faux-percussionist, Marine. "This was my high school stuff." ...I don't remember my high school drum line playing shit like that, and I was first chair, lol.
Some cool stuff man.... but, I have to say... hardest lick is at 14:31 - I mean you can see how hard that is in your eyes as you try to get all the movements down...
You marched Jersey Surf?!? Get outta town!! I probably saw you a million times in person back then! I'm intrigued by the score -- I know how to read music, but would love to know how to match it up with what you're actually doing there
HEY!! this video has some really good tenor parts, i’ve been marching tenors for 2 years and i’m going into my 3rd in my senior year, i’ve got a 16 measure solo during our show ( best soloist award ) could you help me write one???
so i just finished my first year of marching and i was in pit, but ive been practicing for snare for the past few months. The other day my friend offered to bring me to a camp for the sunrisers dca group and i don't know if i should go for snare or wait for the next school season to try out
I once had an instructor who was a fanatic about "no wearing watches when playing" but you don't seem to have an issue with this. Do you know of other instructors who make a big deal about this? Thanks.
Dude. Do you remember an Andrew Fortuna, he was a snare player from 2011 with United. He was an instructor at my highschools drumline and now is a director of a schools group, i don't know the school unfortunately.
Confused on the floating sticks? Check out his sick stick tricks. That one is in there. Also, that was my first year, I wasn't on snare, I was on tenors. Great show
So I'm just starting drumine, hoping for snare. I can physically play anything they throw at me (with practice), but anything I should master going in? Rudiments, common beats, etc.
You should make a video that explains your entire music career and the groups you've marched and the ones you've teched. Sort of like a draw My life.
But in drum form. Like a "play my life"?
thats a good idea, he should do a draw my life
@@lydia6613 ye
JEEEEZ Washington TWP HS took a serious leap in difficulty from 2005 to 2006 haha
Do I see sweat during the USMC 2018 solo? I think I did.

The same to me. Except I’ll be marching snare. Congrats on tenor!
I remember seeing your comments on a video a while back😂😂😂
Omg i might be doing the same!!!
My band director doesn't want me on drum line but I play better than EVERYONE on the bass line :(

“I actually kinda like that. Maybe I’ll do that in my end screen from now on.”
Can we just appreciate the editing magic of 7:40
Cameron Leonard it took me so long to realize what was so significant 😂
I knew EXACTLY what part you were talking about before I even clicked the timestamp
I would guess that he hit nothing and or pad of screen
@@brown9671 or maybe just another tenor.
9:38 Now this is editing gold
Bushwackers 2012 (7:11) definitely looked the hardest
You always have a special way of reminding me that I am a faux-percussionist, Marine. "This was my high school stuff." ...I don't remember my high school drum line playing shit like that, and I was first chair, lol.
You have to remember, those high school kids had EMC as a teacher
Some cool stuff man.... but, I have to say... hardest lick is at 14:31 - I mean you can see how hard that is in your eyes as you try to get all the movements down...
He’s so good at drums he cloned himself almost 10 times just so he could play a feature
You went to a great HS. I don't remember my HS playing such complicated pieces.
Is the music notation glitching at around 4:17 for anyone else? I thought it might be an Easter egg at first.
Jeremy Quiros it happened to me too lol
it's probably copyrighted so he's "not letting us see it"
Lol the 2006 Indoor lick is almost exactly the 1994 Cadets "Cool" break with the double stops replacing the alternating flams between drums 1 and 2
good lord, i cant even remember my feature from my last year of indoor drumline
RING THAT LIBERTY BELL
Yep, still a thing! Thanks for what you do with this channel Eric!!
some of these high school licks are kinda nuts
This is some awesome writing! I’ll definitely use this video as inspiration for my own stuff.
Just saw you in real life at one of the marine performances last friday night. Love your videos and hope to see you again in DC sometime!
I was there too!
Oh it’s says or written I was like how many high schools can you go to
Idk what you’re feeding your high school bass drummers cause some of them are apparently really good like god damn
Thanks for including USMC 2018 in the sheet music btw. I'm gonna be working up this one for a while.
This was fantastic, and those are some very impressive features for high schoolers.
Wait a second Intergalactic WGI isn’t real?
It is real, just from a different galaxy. Earthlings, amirite?
You marched Jersey Surf?!? Get outta town!! I probably saw you a million times in person back then! I'm intrigued by the score -- I know how to read music, but would love to know how to match it up with what you're actually doing there
Didn't know you marched United. Eternal was one of my favorite shows in high school that inspired me to do WGI!
This video is just purely amazing. Loved it so much. Keep making these amazing videos bro!
USMC 2018 was 🔥🔥
You should still do a random times signature lick
wait you went to washington township HS? i used to live there before i moved to PA in 6th grade!
this is the first time i stumbled upon one of your videos and i have to say, Quality Content 👌🏼
keep up the good work!

I didnt know you lived near south jersey area! Come visit my HS sometime and check out our drumline Egg Harbor Township, NJ
Gotta love how Bass 5 vibrates.
Have you ever thought about doing a high school master class or something like that?
Most of the bass ones look like my high school warmups
1:03 When your down in the dumps but then EMC releases a new video
I'm absolutely dying, man!!!! Execution was off the chain! :)
Your camera just can’t handle that bass 5

edit:any thoughts on whether i should wait since its dca
This is super cool! It would be cool to reach this skill level
It’s insane how all these schools are close to eastern hs. It would be insane if you wrote a feature for us
Dang you marched with Andy Kim
You should have included the bd snare feature knife drumming vid too
*May 20th*
-noted.
What about peanuts and stoking the head and your other awesome stuff
12:04 reminds me of Failure

While marching, no jewelry allowed. He's not marching here
It’s probably some dumb thing about keeping time
I wanna see that 2007 show
Can you show us how you make your Carmen heights videos in a future video
Are you gonna come back to the state fair of Texas? Would love to meet you!
The music goofed at 2:12

Came to comment the same thing
You’ve been in High school and United for a long time
What are were you when you found out carrmen heights isn't real 😔

Great video as usual! Keep it up!
Where’s our tenor/drum set feature circa 2010
Stopped writing for Bush the year I joined😢
How can you do the same drumline over and over like United? Isn't there an age limit

Homie has been in the USMC Drum Corps for a while now
NeenanTheNinja lmao this was 11 months ago when I didn’t know him and I was a noob bro :P

how much does it cost to marching in carolina crown?

This is so good
United 2008 🔥

Rudiments are an amazing start. Mastery of those is really important. After that work on traditional grip and get used to the feel of it
@@parkerdegerness8157 I actually always use traditional for my set drumming, but my school wants standard for some reason. :/ Thanks for the reply tho
Were your United quad books written by a snare guy? Also I didn't realize you were in the 08 United line, that line was sick

Idk u March Carolina crown do u know someone named Marshall Woody
Is this magic or the best photoshop ever?
I don't know what a typical drummer is like but you seem more like a prodigy than the norm. Am I right? I honestly don't know.
