@@ronin8993 well, it depends. Are you prominent in the instrument you normally play? Cause if so, you might not want to leave it because it could hurt your section. That could be the reason he doesn't want you to. In this case I'd say do what is best for the band. If you'll hurt your section by leaving it then stay there but if you could go to drumline without it being too hurtful to your section then I'd say go for it, even if he doesn't want you in it

Dude. Do you remember an Andrew Fortuna, he was a snare player from 2011 with United. He was an instructor at my highschools drumline and now is a director of a schools group, i don't know the school unfortunately.
Most of the bass ones look like my high school warmups
so i just finished my first year of marching and i was in pit, but ive been practicing for snare for the past few months. The other day my friend offered to bring me to a camp for the sunrisers dca group and i don't know if i should go for snare or wait for the next school season to try out

So I'm just starting drumine, hoping for snare. I can physically play anything they throw at me (with practice), but anything I should master going in? Rudiments, common beats, etc.
Rudiments are an amazing start. Mastery of those is really important. After that work on traditional grip and get used to the feel of it
