One thing we can all agree on : German cars are overrated and overpriced and those German car fanboys thinking their beloved cars are untouchable need to get out more to sample the competition. Cause guess what? Their competition can now outhandle and outfeature the Germans at lower cost and often with better reliability/less maintenance headaches. Often the only reason one gets a German car is for superficial reasons like badge snobbery.
Purchased a CTS for $55K it handles way better than the Genesis in all trims even 2.0 liter 4. There will always be Caddy haters out there. That is the past. Cadillac is a legitimate luxury performance brand. They have been building good performance sedans for 15 years. I test drove the Genesis. It is a good car. For cruising most people will love it. I love to drive if you love driving engagement the CTS I any form is a winner.
To me Hyundai looks all original inside and out. You can call me blind all you want, but none of their cars looks like any other vehicles out in the streets today. I have a lot of respect for them, I can see Hyundai being better than the rest, they just as reliable as any reliable car. Lol when I first heard of its name, I thought Honda was the parent company.
Have to agree also. I like the CTS V for its performance but its hard to not think of it as an older guys car because of the looks. Maybe the ATS coupe I would consider. But Cadillac is somewhat expensive. Still both are nice machines.
I never said or tried to compare Hyundai with Honda. When I was younger, before I knew anything about cars, I thought Hyundai was under Honda. I became a teen and learned that Hyundai and Honda are nothing alike, now I'm 23 that supports and drives the Sonata Limited, Genesis 5.0 and Equus from to time :). The only car I like from Honda is the fully loaded Accords. Hyundai's vision is a lot different from Honda.
In a sense these cars do compete but definitely not directly....I love both cars but I honestly think I would take the genesis....very hard to argue with its price...Once the quality is proven and perception goes up with the genesis, so will its price tag....get one while they are a steal!
Pitting these two vehicles against each other is ridiculous. They aren't the same type of car. May be around the same size, but that's about it. One is geared towards performance (Caddy) the other straightforward Luxury (Genesis). Both met those goals. I've driven both and I currently own the Genesis 3.8 AWD with the Ultimate Package. People that speak ill of it, 99% chance they've never seen it in person or better yet, driven it at all. It's easily above the Japanese luxury brands at this point in luxury, Infiniti still out performs it in handling and that fun to drive factor. But unless you drive every single day like a Grand Theft Auto character, the Genesis more than meets the needs of the targeted market.
Anyone who shows no respect to a company 2 decades old, which competes with the best deserves to be beaten with stones. I think the Genesis is better than the Cadillac. I will take it any day over the Caddi simply for the innovative, modern, challenging and reliable image of the company. I don't have issues with my personality and self respect,so that i buy a car for its badge. Cadillac is a company with heritage in making luxury cars but they have been a huge disappointment over the last 2 decades. Hyundai has perfect servicing, customer satisfaction records and their cars are keeping solid resale prize. Stop bashing in a typical American way everything that is NOT made in America.
S.T T. "Beaten with stones" Show some respect, we don't do that here in America my friend. Cadillac is the true American luxury car, Hyundai is the cheap, knock-off that copies everyone else. Plus, I don't know where you're getting information that lead's you to believe that Hyundai is innovative. They are in no way innovative, nor do they posses a reliable image, they just exist as an average car company, nothing special.
S.T T. Let's just say that all you have do is hear the name Cadillac, and you can expect luxury and style. And luxury refers to, in short, a wealth of creature comforts and tasteful interior amenities. I'm not going to bother listing a bunch a bunch of things for you, just look up anything about Cadillac and you'll see what I mean.
Btw my cousin has bought this and I have driven it. Very powerful engine and the interior is VERY ADVANCED. HUD, best LCD displays I've ever seen in a car and heated front AND back seats.
German cars have never been more affordable than they are now. You'd see this if you stopped comparing only the very top tier/trim vehicles in their line ups.
Shift4g which ones? The a3 or cla? With hard plastic, and very limited features. The Honda civic fully loaded is way better than the a3 which starting is 6k more.
Well for one, an entry level Honda costing within 6k of a German car has never happened before. The fact that the CLA, A3, 1/2 Series even exist is also new. Which is way better is a matter of opinion, needs, and likes.
Shift4g fully loaded Honda civic is around 24k, while starting price of cla is $29,995. These manufacturers are coming with 400+ bhp which accommodates for the high price, although compared to the Genesis, it is stretching a bit.
You can get the V sport with less features for 60k ... The car comes in lots of variants ... But I have to say the Cadillac looks much much better and that red interior with the suede inserts is gorgeous and from an engineering stand point the cts is the winner ... He even said it .. "embarrasses the 5 series"
The Genesis is a far superior car in every respect. Then again German Badge Trolls will tear it to shreds just to satisfy their fragile egos online. And I drive a new S Class. I've been leasing them for years. I'm just being honest. It's far superior than the Lexus GS. And this Cadillac as well. But some people just don't want to recognize the progress Hyundai has made over the years. They just Troll and attack in comment sections such as this without any real info to back it up. And they always leave dumb ass reply's as well to a Hyundai product. No matter if it wins multiple awards and praise. Realistically most of them couldn't even afford a new car. Let alone a fully loaded Genesis.
Korean automobiles are even more reliable now than some of the Japanese manufactures. German autos is still on top, but not because they are more reliable, Hyundai just shows you that a lot of the money you spend on cars only goes to buying the name
Guys face it. Cadillac won. Can't you guys here he said that its better, just not worth the price. I was in both of those cars and I liked the CTS way more than the Genesis. Cadillac is better. End of story.
I love my 2013 genesis. Love the 2013 style more then the 2015 though. In my opinion the 5.0 genesis is such a sexy car quick pick up and such a smooth ride.
I had a brand new 2013 Cadillac ATS 2.0T and I traded it back in after 6 months. The whole "CUE" system is completely impractical and even dangerous. The only cool aspect was the smaller color LED screen on the dash that made it easier to quickly view and change music, view GPS directions, etc. The CUE system itself was INCREDIBLY sluggish and unresponsive. I hated it.
Oh, and mine was a 6-speed manual which was HORRIBLY notchy. And no physical e-brake? BOO!!! It was some stupid little electronic parking brake switch.
I also have this car and have no complaints.Yes the CUE system could be somewhat faster but it's not annoying. The car handles great and looks great.I had a Cadillac V before, and this ATS was less expensive and has decent torque. You should have kept it. .
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis looks much more modern and classier than the 2014 Cadillac CTS VSport. This is coming from a German. In Germany, Hyundai is the most popular non-European car brand. The 2015 Genesis looks very modern and classy to me. I would buy the 2015 Genesis over a Cadillac CTS or Japanese car any day.
I am a german living in Germany. And I had a hard time to get a Hyundai Genesis because they are not built here. You have to get one from Asia or US. I've had an Audi but I had so much trouble with it. The Genesis is such an awesome car and I love it every time I drive it. I know people who paid the double for their BMWs or Mercs and got less stuff in it.
There are several good reasons. Hyundai produces its own steel, and it's a world leader in the industry. This gives the Genesis the most rigid structure in the class, but is also responsible for its weight. Also, by not having to invest in a separate luxury dealer network, Hyundai estimates they keep up to approx $8k off the sticker price (which would make the base price about the same as the CTS). As a consumer, you should appreciate the lower cost.
JDubbs07 Great point! The Genesis is stiffer than BMW in terms of chassis by 50%. BMW has been making luxury cars for over 40 years. Hyundai has been doing it for about 7. And for only 7 years, Hyundai is absolutely stunning.
Garden of Harmony I will interject here. Although Hyundais are not my cup of tea, I don't dislike them. However, to measure a manufacturer's capabilities because they've been in the business for a shorter period of time is inaccurate when considering they are not pioneering anything. If they became the forefront of the automotive world in such a short period of time, then that is definitely commendable, but they didn't.
ewt415 I will interject too. It doesn't matter that Hyundai hasn't been a forefront at anything. They don't need to and what they're doing is pretty remarkable. Innovation doesn't have to always be about starting the new and best thing. It can be about just doing the normal things a bit better - more cost efficiently. Hyundai may lack in the tech arena and the gadgetries of the European counterparts but so far the rest of their car is pretty good for the cost.
The new genesis looks amazing in person. Im not a fan of the rear as it looks like a elantra and to hyundaish but its cool. I still find $55,000 for a hyundai alot! The equus can be had for only a bit more.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis absolutely destroys the 2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport in terms of looks. I don't know what kind of drugs these guys are on. I'm Italian and I would definitely get the 2015 Hyundai Genesis over any other luxury car under $100,000.
Agreed. AutoNews predicted that the new Hyundai Genesis may overtake most luxury car sales this year. Hyundai really designed this one well. Korean engineering is one of the best these days.
Btw Hyundai is good but still nowhere near as luxury as BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. Actually even Japanese brands are not up to that quality. Probably never will. Most people still view Japanese cars as affordable, cheap cars.
Genesis is more luxurious than Infiniti Q50, Acura TLX, Lincoln MKS, Lexus GS...... Inside and Out I don't care how much CTS drives sportier, inside is a mess! No one like touch sensitive icons and the screen gauges look really cheap.
+trilingualkid I'm not sure that's true. It really depends on the car. I find my Maxima is about as quiet as my Genesis, and the Genesis is praised for how quiet it is in every review. Now if you compare them to an Altima, Sentra or Versa, yes, those are as bad as a Civic or Mazda 3. If your car's interior is all carpet and sound absorbing (multiple layers under you, at least one soft material above) that alone helps make it quieter than a car with hard plastics. However, if you start removing felt covers and getting to the bare metal, you'll notice the Maxima has soundproofing materials over the fenders, in the trunk, the doors, etc. unlike cheaper cars.
iSOBigD but the thing is maxima is a cheaper car compare to it Infiniti counter part. My friend G's and Q50 are so freaking loud...if its not wind noise its road noise...Honestly it is unacceptable. I do think the maxima exterior is super handsome though.
Dan R I agree some people are that ignorant. But past the CTS fanboys (I do think this new CTS is a pretty good car though), just in general how people still use old ass arguments like "Hyundai has bad build quality" or "Hyundai cars are crude" I mean, you get one of the most proven automotive tuning companies in the world to tweak your car on arguably the most arduous circuit in the world backed by the best warranty in the industry, and their qualms are about just that. Haters gonna hate, like I said
plus all new management, all new design teams, and top of the line manufacturing plants in the USA. It's a totally new company, just the same name. I'd say build quality is definitely not lacking in hyundais right now
Don't see why not. As far as luxury appointments go it was basically a tie, but their style and missions are so different a V-Sport owner would likely be turned off by a Genesis 5.0, and vice-versa.
The prestige of the Cadillac marque still has not regained its full mark yet... The last 40 years have seen a lot of duds wearing the badge: The Cimarron, The V8-6-4, The last generation of the STS, The troublesome Northstar engine, the Catera...
I'd never buy Cadillac. Worst price/quality ratio for luxury cars. I'd rather buy Hyundai for less with more. And if I am to splurge Cadillac cost, I'd rather buy Audi or BMW.
I really, really like both of these cars a lot. But EVERY new CTS (or ATS) I've sat in has had major issues with the Cue system and beyond. I really want to love this car, but if I can't reliably control the stereo volume, or turn on and off the 4-way flashers, etc. then I don't care how good the engine/brakes/steering are!!
One car is made for sporty driving, the other is made for comfort driving so comparing these 2 was kind of pointless when they should have compared the Genesis to a Lexus and the CTS to a BMW. If I had the money to buy both of these cars I would.
I like the genisis but you are wrong. Cadillac's magnetic ride control is way better. I drove both before buying one. Ride quality is what ruled out the genisis
just bought a 15 genesis awd, interior is great, but drive is average for a luxury vehicle, has a lot of body role on tight turns, a little disturbing.
I think Hyundai is so smart to go plush rather than sporty on their premium cars. That interior is heaven. I hate the grille but overall the shape is sleek. The new Cadillacs are so stylish, but they overplay the sport aspect.
This comparison doesn't make sense. The Cadillac is a sport sedan that competes with BMW, Audi, and MB. If you want a comfy GM competitor then look at Buick. A fully loaded Buick LaCrosse costs $49,000 and has everything the Hyundai has.
I can't judge Cadillacs because they aren't sold here where I live, but in these past years Hyundai has been making big steps towards removing it's badge of unreliability. If you asked me 5 years ago if I would ever own a Hyundai, I would've immediately thought you were joking. However, last year MY FAMILY (I'm still too young to have a car, but soon ;) ) decided to buy one, just to see why it was becoming famous on the streets. And, now, not a single problem so far. We've owned different cars before (we have around 5, my parents tend to get bored and sell and buy after a few months) and I can tell you that while German comfort is probably unparalleled, it does NOT blow American and Korean comfort out of the water. All the carmakers have improved. :D sorry for the long comment haha
After 20 years of German cars I just bought a 2014 Cadillac ATS. I find this car on par with Mercedes and in some respects better. While smaller than the CTS I now realize Cadillac has come a long way!
cadillac driving ability is blown out of porpotion/ over rated you should take test drive both cars you'r self most people probly take the genesis over caddy even if both cars cost exactly the same
You serious? HYUNDAI any day over the caddie...at the end of the day the fit and finish on the Hyundai is way better than a GM built can. Do a break down and you'll see. This is just the beginning for Hyundai. You watch.
KWaveWorldWide i agree, people didnt even sit in car and already talk a shit about a car, they think that if its not an mersedec or bmw an etc then its a bad car,sit in a car drive it and then talk
They both seem like nice cars but I think I prefer the looks of the Genesis. They both seem to have good power but to me the Genesis looks nicer and more comfortable. The fact that its cheaper don't hurt in my book either.
Honestly, I'm looking at buying a Genesis and at no point did I look at Cadillac. Shopped an A6 and a 5 Series. I guess I just don't see Caddy as anything other than what it's been for 40+ years. Which is not a good brand.
Loving that CTS-V sport definitely on my radar! It's a crying shame Cadillac has dropped such a beautiful car! The replacements does not do it justice at all! Smaller & less power is not the winning formula!!
The Genesis is a generic luxury car. No one crosshopping a $70,000 Cadillac is looking at a "Hyundai". A loaded $55,000 Genesis gives you far more bang for the buck than your average base trim German car, but you have to get over the name badge. Hyundai gives way better warranties than just about everyone else in the industry. The V-sport is a beautiful car with better handling than an equivalently priced BMW. But for "main street" it's $5000 overpriced.
What is wrong with your people? The price difference in between is almost 20k...... GTS should be substantially better than Hyundai...... Compare those two cars is kind of ridiculous and yet have lot commented buying an GTS over Hyundai. 18K of price difference is just a joke I guess.
I understand that a Hyundai Genesis costs $55K fully loaded. However, for about 5 grand more, I would much rather get a CTS Vsport with everything that I need, and for the same reason why I would choose a Bentley Flying Spur over a Mercedes S65 AMG for $200K. I would not spend more than $35K for a Hyundai and won't spend more than $135K for a Benz.
***** And what about the newer Cadillacs? My friends mom gave her her old old 2012 Cadillac CTS as a first car. She gave me a ride in it and let me drive it, if there is plastic in that car then I guess soft touch materials and aluminum are plastic. How about learning some god damn facts first... There are plenty of Mercedes, Vw's, and BMW's I have been with shitty interiors, so shitty that its the reason I refuse to buy overpriced Euro cars.
***** im not whining, and idiots like you has grown very long too,i say as it is ,look for example on mersedec concept coupe, its copy of bmw x6 or vw zl1 a copy of honda insight, they are similar,so be quiet
***** dude i know what im talking about ,ask other people for example what they see i mersedec concept coupe,i think that it is useless to prove you something
***** Actually.. most cars do look the same. Car designers are now looking for the "trend" which is what consumers want. If consumers show a good response to a certain car or style, other makers will follow suit. Funny enough NO car company comes up with new designs. its all tweaks and changes from what was before. AND I should know... Im a post Car designer and now a BMW cars sales executive.
marvelv212 face it, only poor people would buy a hyundai. no rich person is ever gonna say, 'oh wow, im rich, time to buy a hyundai'. That cad is nice but i prefer a v8 over a v6, so im gonna have to go with the cts-v sedan.
***** So are you rich? Go ahead and buy a cadillac. I would buy a Genesis. Hyundai Genesis is a nice car from all the reviews. Performance isn't everything. It's all about cruising not racing race tracks.,
marvelv212 I wouldnt mind a genesis. it's a nice car. although it doesnt look original, but that's a different story. I was just responding to that guy's post bcuz he thinks 72 grand is a lot for a caddy and 55 grand is not for a hyundai. that's his opinion. and i responded with mine. anyways, cadillac cts-v for the win. I'm not rich, but 9/10 a rich person will choose caddy over hyundai.
BOTH of these cars are marvelous. Who would ever thought GM would ever be able to produce a car that out-BMW's a BMW? And why a company like Lincoln refuses to build a RWD sedan like the Genesis is a total mystery.
Rediculous! Genesis is not a luxury car at all. It has the same badge as Elantra and its interior is not even close. Caddy has a stylish, unique style while Genesis is an up-scale Sonata.
Nima Bahrehdar No. 4 is largely subjective, but 1-3 is rightly said. The automotive world and the luxury world is nothing as simple as all these people think it is.
Nima Bahrehdar "You want to buy a Caddy, BMW, or Lexus to tell your friends I drive a lux." I don't, and those kinds of people might legitimately be mentally handicapped. I spend my hard earned (or not) money on things that I (ME) genuinely want. I'll be damned if I'm going to make a 72k purchase just so my neighbor, who I don't actually like, will be jealous. I don't give a flying frak about impressing my friends when I spend that kind of money either. The thing with Hyundai is that they are not trying to make a "better" car than their rivals...yet. They are purposely trying to undercut the competition by offering 75-85% of the same things for less money. By actually not going 100%, they can do this. They then get a foothold in the market, re-establish a firm foundation, then focus on actually outdoing everyone. If you look at market trends and spending habits (at least in America), you can see that many people don't care about pedantic aesthetic traits or faux pas. They just want to feel like they have something special. That is the acceptable compromise they are targeting right now, and they are doing an excellent job.
It's fucking awkward how the Chrysler/Aston martin-esque badge on the front of the Genesis is so radically different from the Hyundai emblem on the back. Or that they even used different emblems for the front and back at all. It's plain bi-polar. Then you've got the Genesis emblem is on the steering wheel and not on the motor cover. That's almost enough reason to not even consider the car.
Genesis is by far the better car. Pick the V6 with AWD + all packages and you got a Merc E350 4Matic for $20000 less while having a lot better MPG and safety.
I did a lot of shopping around and ended up getting an Audi A6 2.0. I got a very good price on it. My close second option would definitely be the CTS 2.0T. I tried the Genesis.... and I hated it. it's great car for Uber drivers, but that's about it.
Seriously though. Sure the Hyundai is luxurious but its comparable to middle class luxury like Infiniti Acura and Lexus. Cadillac just barely competes with Audi Mercedes Benz and BMW in luxury but performance is where they can remotely compare
I would love to take Genesis over the Cadillac CTS, definitely Lexus GS and Mercedes E-class in this category. The only the once who is really competitive in this segment with Genesis are BMW 5 series and Audi A6. Come on now people, stop being ignorant!!! Things do change over the time, so as Hyundai did. Person must be able to look at the eye of truth, instead of looking for excuses like badge looks like Aston Martin's or etc. Matter of fact I would rather have fully loaded Genesis than base model E-class or Lexus GS, why because in reality I'm getting more features, bigger space and the best warranty for the less price!!! Way to go Hyundai!!!
+Pentecostal Trinitarian Tongue Talker The 5.0 is Hyudai's sports luxury offering. It's just very poor at the sport and better at the luxury. Hyundai intended it to be that way. Once they get better at the performance aspect I'll take a real serious look at them. But the price will obviously have to come up. That Tau V8 is pretty old now and needs at least an update if not outright replacment.
I was under impression the Cadillac was a bargain car that competes with cars like the 5 series, A6, or the E class. While it does, after seeing the price I wouldn't necessarily jump ship from a German brand equivalent of Cadillac's CTS V-Sport. All three of the cars I mentioned above start at around 60k maybe with the exception of the Mercedes E Class. I know you can get a decently equipped 550i for under 80k so I'm not really seeing where the bargain is anymore with the CTS-V. Sure, the CTS-V may come with a few more features for the same price, but I feel like once you're looking at cars past the 70k range, an additional 5-10k simply isn't as significant as it would be when looking at something lower class like a Civic or Camry. You're also getting a better quality car with the 550i. For example, BMW utilizes a ZF automatic transmission for the majority of their cars. The 8 speed auto available on the 5 series is EXTREMELY good and shifts faster than some dual clutch transmissions. I guess you could downgrade and look at the 4 cylinder version or N/A V6 version of the CTS where I think the value comes in at, but honesty at that price point, I feel like the market is even more competitive because now you're not only looking at a larger range of German cars, but a lot of Japanese cars like the IS350 F-Sport come into play.
The new genesis actually look nice in my opinion. I don't know who'd want to spend 70k on a Cadillac considering the myriad of other cars you can buy with that kind of money. It's not even an iconic Escalade. Hyundai has come far, they just still have a bit of a stigma is all
haha you mean nice Hyundai Grill Audi! Do you appreciate the designer or the product? One thing i learned as a professional, a company can only own a product but the talent stays with the professional or in this case the designer.
You just made yourself look incredibly stupid haha...ask Peter...oh wait you won't know who that is or where he's even from. Lol. Ignorant fools like you....sigh
KWaveWorldWide he has no clue who peter schreyer. Hes just a Hyundai hater. But in all fairness he spends more time with Kia then he does with Hyundai.
For the same money as the overpriced CTS V-Sport I can get a V8 BMW or a loaded Audi S6 that will destroy everything and have tons more features, a better backseat, massage seats, night vision etc. The Genesis is a great value for the money.
Maybe in the US where you do not encounter Audi Exclusive program very often, but in some other places, like my home country, where Audi Exclusive is used more often, a fully loaded S6 goes up to $110K with a blink of an eye, that is without having the message seats night vision... etc. Plus an S6 starts at a cool $80K. Do not get me wrong, although I had and still have few Cadillacs, I would still go with the S6 no questions! Even with the price difference.
Dhaher Alelew I just went on the US sites for Audi and Cadillac. A base S6 is about $1k usd more expensive than a fully loaded Cadillac CTS-Vsport, so I''m not how he can get a loaded S6 for the same price.
Oh no, I was just letting you know the price of the S6 in the US since I assumed you may not have known the price here lol. Was simply mentioning what the other guy said didn't really make sense.
Haha, no probs man, I attending school in the US for 4 years and I just left two days ago lol, but my car prices database is still related to the where I come from haha. It college education though I'm not a highschooler haha
Who else here can't wait for the CTS-V? It's going to have 600+ HP, and an available seven-speed manual. That will be a dream car. By the way, I love the Vsport here, but since I'm in college, I'll pick my two Saturns over these at the moment. I can actually afford the insurance on my cars. :P
Why are they even comparing a Cadillac to a Hyundai? Yeah they're nice but and all but the luxury aspect of the car is still very cheap compared to the Cadillac whatever you say about Cadillac they're cars are never cheap unless it's a Catera 😂
IDK about this.... For people who don't know much about cars and brand pedigree then a $55k + Hyundai is alright, I guess. However, for the rest of us, driving home back from work in an expensive-ass Hyundai just won't sit well. There's a reason why Toyota created Luxes for the American market and that is because they knew that no American in their right mind would want to purchase a $55k Toyota. Same reason why Nissan created Infiniti, Honda created Acura, and why Ford kept Lincoln around ( to sell rebranded Fords for a jacked up price! ). You can keep your Hyundai, i'll gladly take the Caddy in a dark blue, please.
I agree, Hyundai makes good cars but i just wouldn't want one because the fact is it's a Hyundai. they do try to make it seem more premium by adding those badges on their more premium cars in place of the wiggly H on the rest of their line though which do look good but i think they do need a separate luxury brand to get the "im not a Hyundai im something special" image.
LOL. They chose the Genesis. LOL I'd easily pay the extra money for the Cadillac, despite it's JLo butt. I swear, some of the "conclusions" these guys at Auto Guide make are head-shakers for sure.
So long story short, they're both great cars. Genesis is the plush cruiser. Cadillac is the hardcore performance luxury sedan.
Spot on
Purchased a CTS for $55K it handles way better than the Genesis in all trims even 2.0 liter 4. There will always be Caddy haters out there. That is the past. Cadillac is a legitimate luxury performance brand. They have been building good performance sedans for 15 years. I test drove the Genesis. It is a good car. For cruising most people will love it. btecww I got one to man I love it
I love that Genesis. Super luxury and a great price? I am sold:)
Considering almost 20k difference in price - I'd go with Genesis any day. Lets not forget about 10 year and 100k mile warranty from Hyundai.
you were completely wrong
To me Hyundai looks all original inside and out. You can call me blind all you want, but none of their cars looks like any other vehicles out in the streets today. I have a lot of respect for them, I can see Hyundai being better than the rest, they just as reliable as any reliable car. Lol when I first heard of its name, I thought Honda was the parent company.
I agree with you 💯
Have to agree also. I like the CTS V for its performance but its hard to not think of it as an older guys car because of the looks. Maybe the ATS coupe I would consider. But Cadillac is somewhat expensive. Still both are nice machines.
I agree with you, people think that Hyundai is from Honda, but Hyundais from Korea while Hondas from Japan
I never said or tried to compare Hyundai with Honda. When I was younger, before I knew anything about cars, I thought Hyundai was under Honda. The only car I like from Honda is the fully loaded Accords.
Hyundai's vision is a lot different from Honda.
+Estrading Co Our Hondas have lasted hundreds of thousands of miles... What are you talking about?
In a sense these cars do compete but definitely not directly....I love both cars but I honestly think I would take the genesis....very hard to argue with its price...Once the quality is proven and perception goes up with the genesis, so will its price tag....get one while they are a steal!

Genesis it´s really a bargain. Great car.
I have bought the genesis and its wonderful car i liked it
Anyone who thinks a Hyundai is a better car than Cadillac should probably not be behind the wheel of a car
true
Anyone who shows no respect to a company 2 decades old, which competes with the best deserves to be beaten with stones. I think the Genesis is better than the Cadillac. I will take it any day over the Caddi simply for the innovative, modern, challenging and reliable image of the company.
Joshua Oblon Can you write a short definition of "luxury"?
Genesis = Comfort . Technology - Cadillac = Driving pleasure . Sporty
2015 Hyundai Genesis looks very classy and sophisticated.
Hyundai ranks No.1 in recent IQS Automobile Quality Study. Google it.
The new genesis looks very beautiful and sleek.
Btw my cousin has bought this and I have driven it. Very powerful engine and the interior is VERY ADVANCED. HUD, best LCD displays I've ever seen in a car and heated front AND back seats.
IMO Hyundai really knows how to make a good, reliable luxury sedan. I recommend this over any GM luxury car
Yeha I read the article on AutoWeek. Pretty interesting.
Porsche and Hyundai are No.1.
Hyundai is a Korean company and I think Koreans should be very proud of this.
They actually SURPASS japanese brands now.
I just picked up the 2015 Genesis..such a beauty
Hyundai is very nice, don't get me wrong, but the Cadillac does everything right. Including steering, something Hyundai cant do to save their lives.
Have you ever driven a new hyundai?
TheMigitMan32 yes and a couple friends own them. I recommend them, but usually quality is the reason.
***** bullshit
steering and suspension on this gen was outsourced to LOTUS and revamped from the ground up
Needs a better gearbox. Maybe they will get a version of the new 8-spd in the C7.
I like Hyundai's luxury badge!
You know what grinds my gears? Germans automakers thinking they're all that, with overpricing their cars.
Mercedes-Benz spends around 3.1 million euro every day just on R&D (research and development) i think that shows why they cost the way they do
You can get the V sport with less features for 60k ... The car comes in lots of variants ... But I have to say the Cadillac looks much much better and that red interior with the suede inserts is gorgeous and from an engineering stand point the cts is the winner ... He even said it .. "embarrasses the 5 series"
ehhh german cars are overrated as fuck.
Well said
I have the 12 r-spec she's bad to the bone,
How is it better in every respect? The Cadillac would run circles around the Genesis on the track.
Korean automobiles are even more reliable now than some of the Japanese manufactures. German autos is still on top, but not because they are more reliable, Hyundai just shows you that a lot of the money you spend on cars only goes to buying the name
Finally saw the new Genesis in person, excellent looking vehicle.
Guys face it. Cadillac won. Can't you guys here he said that its better, just not worth the price. I was in both of those cars and I liked the CTS way more than the Genesis. Cadillac is better. End of story.
AndyG I cant even see why someone would cross shop these 2 cars. So drastically different and Cadillac performance wise gets the cake.
CTS-V all day, looks so much better, but that Hyundai is pretty damn nice! Wow
I love my 2013 genesis. Love the 2013 style more then the 2015 though. In my opinion the 5.0 genesis is such a sexy car quick pick up and such a smooth ride.
In a straight line.
I got the same car but everything works fine
You must have lower standards than me, then.
I also have this car and have no complaints.Yes the CUE system could be somewhat faster but it's not annoying. The car handles great and looks great.I had a Cadillac V before, and this ATS was less expensive and has decent torque. You should have kept it.
.
Then why did you buy the car? Ever hear of a test-drive? You sound like a real strange one....
I agree that the 2015 Genesis looks much better than the Cadillac.
The Cadillac looks too much like a brick tbh.
I love Hyundai cars.
I test drove the 2015 Genesis V6 AWD and it was the best driving experience I've ever got from a non-German car.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis looks seriously premium.
eurofootball42 In Europe, Hyundai is doing much better than Toyota.
In Russia, Hyundai outsold Toyota by 300,000 units.
There's a very good reason why the Hyundai can be sold at such a cheap price.
But Hyundais give you a heck of a lot of bang for the buck. I'm not a fan, but I still think you really get a lot for what you pay.
The new genesis looks amazing in person. Im not a fan of the rear as it looks like a elantra and to hyundaish but its cool. I still find $55,000 for a hyundai alot! The equus can be had for only a bit more.
Just get a 38k version... still a great vehicle...
I rather get BMW 5 series than any other luxury car but that's just me.
Btw Hyundai is good but still nowhere near as luxury as BMW, Mercedes and Porsche.
Actually even Japanese brands are not up to that quality. Probably never will. Most people still view Japanese cars as affordable, cheap cars.
Papayafruitch you're an idiot. The 2015 Genesis is much better than anything you can buy.
The reason why Hyundai sales have gone up sharply this month is because of the 2015 Genesis.
Love the interior of the cts! Looks so good!
Genesis is more luxurious than Infiniti Q50, Acura TLX, Lincoln MKS, Lexus GS...... Inside and Out I don't care how much CTS drives sportier, inside is a mess! No one like touch sensitive icons and the screen gauges look really cheap.
chltmdwp I don't agree I think The Q50 has a nicer look inside and out then the genesis> And I use to drive a genesis.
vroomgc nissan/infinity are notorious for cabin noise...this is a turn off or else I would consider it for my next car.
Don't exaggerate
The anti Hyundai hate is real... lmao haters gonna hate, that is a legitimately good car, both on paper and on the road
I think maybe just the CTS fanboys. You could take a V8 and throw it in a pt cruiser and they would pay $70,000 for it.
Dan R I agree some people are that ignorant. But past the CTS fanboys (I do think this new CTS is a pretty good car though), just in general how people still use old ass arguments like "Hyundai has bad build quality" or "Hyundai cars are crude"
I mean, you get one of the most proven automotive tuning companies in the world to tweak your car on arguably the most arduous circuit in the world backed by the best warranty in the industry, and their qualms are about just that. Haters gonna hate, like I said
plus all new management, all new design teams, and top of the line manufacturing plants in the USA. It's a totally new company, just the same name. I'd say build quality is definitely not lacking in hyundais right now
Dan R Yep, only a matter of time before the haters realize
***** yeah because it costs what a luxury car SHOULD cost, not the brand
It's not fair to lump an established premium brand like Cadillac (once the world standard) in with hurry-come-up Hyundai
I really want to love this car, but if I can't reliably control the stereo volume, or turn on and off the 4-way flashers, etc. then I don't care how good the engine/brakes/steering are!!
not all of them..have had 4 Caddies with cue no problems....
One car is made for sporty driving, the other is made for comfort driving so comparing these 2 was kind of pointless when they should have compared the Genesis to a Lexus and the CTS to a BMW. If I had the money to buy both of these cars I would.
I will go with the genesis !
0:45 badly mis-aligned hood on the Hyundai...fail!
nope. those are your eyes doing that to you. glasses maybe?
Damn, if that CTS V-Sport was on sale in Australia and I had the money I'd buy it in a heart beat over anything else.
I'll go for the Hyundai. Interior looks better and ride quality is more comfortable.
I like the genisis but you are wrong. Cadillac's magnetic ride control is way better. I drove both before buying one. Ride quality is what ruled out the genisis
Alex sounds like you are the old Cadillac market,
just bought a 15 genesis awd, interior is great, but drive is average for a luxury vehicle, has a lot of body role on tight turns, a little disturbing.
it's like the Town Car, excellent boulevard driver.
I think Hyundai is so smart to go plush rather than sporty on their premium cars. That interior is heaven. I hate the grille but overall the shape is sleek. The new Cadillacs are so stylish, but they overplay the sport aspect.
Cadillac aaaall the way.
This comparison doesn't make sense. The Cadillac is a sport sedan that competes with BMW, Audi, and MB. If you want a comfy GM competitor then look at Buick. A fully loaded Buick LaCrosse costs $49,000 and has everything the Hyundai has.
+Rex Houseo ?
+pokebe 12 !
Genesis over Caddi anytime and any day, man!! Case closed!
Which one did you get? The 2.0T or the 3.6?
David Kim 2.5 4 cyl. It runs fine and has more power than my 2.3 supercharged Mercedes had!
Steve W After 20 years of GERMAN CARS, I bet your mecedes is old
They forgot a really good competitor. . Forget the 5 series ... for 70k you can get a M3
SORRY Cadilac. My Choice GENESIS.
Looks more than 17 thousand better to me...
cadillac driving ability is blown out of porpotion/ over rated you should take test drive both cars you'r self most people probly take the genesis over caddy even if both cars cost exactly the same
tochjo772 What's with the hearts
Cadillac hands down! Who picks a Hyundai over a Cadillac?!
i did, and it is a way better decision. More room, more features and cheaper
Have you seen the shitty interior the caddy sports? It’s terrible?
I usually hate Hyundai but damn this Genesis is such a great looking car. I even prefer it to the A6 or 5-Series.
They both seem like nice cars but I think I prefer the looks of the Genesis. They both seem to have good power but to me the Genesis looks nicer and more comfortable. The fact that its cheaper don't hurt in my book either.
what's name the music at 0:37 ??
can some one help me ?
Honestly, I'm looking at buying a Genesis and at no point did I look at Cadillac. Shopped an A6 and a 5 Series. I guess I just don't see Caddy as anything other than what it's been for 40+ years. Which is not a good brand.
Samuel Chatham dont let your perception get in the way of facts. things change. what brand ist the same today as it was 40 years ago?
I test drove Lexus, Mercedes, BMW and caddy back to back and decided on the caddy to the surprise of most of my friends and family. IT IS THAT GOOD!
that cts v sport- one of my fav cars. it's awesome
Both these cars are still better than the GS.
Loving that CTS-V sport definitely on my radar! It's a crying shame Cadillac has dropped such a beautiful car! The replacements does not do it justice at all! Smaller & less power is not the winning formula!!
I like the Cadillac, but that's way too much money just for a 4 pot and the twin turbo 6 is just stupidly high. Would rather the Genesis
Get the Genesis and you can still afford to go out to dinner in it lol
Every cad I've ever owned stayed in the shop. I still see lights flash like service stability ride control.
What is wrong with your people? The price difference in between is almost 20k...... GTS should be substantially better than Hyundai...... Compare those two cars is kind of ridiculous and yet have lot commented buying an GTS over Hyundai. 18K of price difference is just a joke I guess.
Bob Jiang GM Alpha platform, well worth paying for a GM on that platform, even the Germans do not yet have an RWD platform this good.
Cadillac has always rivaled German cars in Luxury...
Not sure what you consider luxury, but it's much more than leather seats and wood.
I've never seen a Cadillac in Europe
***** And what about the newer Cadillacs? My friends mom gave her her old old 2012 Cadillac CTS as a first car. She gave me a ride in it and let me drive it, if there is plastic in that car then I guess soft touch materials and aluminum are plastic. How about learning some god damn facts first... There are plenty of Mercedes, Vw's, and BMW's I have been with shitty interiors, so shitty that its the reason I refuse to buy overpriced Euro cars.
Ahhh no
Mark Brickrich well you should open your eyes cause I have! A lot of times.
Kinda like the Genesis more, and that's coming from GM guy...
Are there any mods available for the 5.0?
every hyundai i see looks like they used a design from other brands
no they dont, every car today looks similar
***** im not whining, and idiots like you has grown very long too,i say as it is ,look for example on mersedec concept coupe, its copy of bmw x6 or vw zl1 a copy of honda insight, they are similar,so be quiet
***** dude i know what im talking about ,ask other people for example what they see i mersedec concept coupe,i think that it is useless to prove you something
DRAGONIKification em....nope,,,ur clueless
***** Actually.. most cars do look the same. Car designers are now looking for the "trend" which is what consumers want. If consumers show a good response to a certain car or style, other makers will follow suit. Funny enough NO car company comes up with new designs. its all tweaks and changes from what was before. AND I should know... Im a post Car designer and now a BMW cars sales executive.
Do you guys film in Mississauga?
look at the finish of the cars.. hyundai gives you real wood..that caddy will have problems in 2 years..i had one i know
Very nice comparison guys.
72000 dollars for a caddy??????
I would buy merc or bmw for that money.
Or buy the Genesis and buy another car.
55 grand for a hyundai???
***** I'd buy hyundai over cadillac anyday. These guys are profession car reviewers and they pick it over cadillac.
marvelv212 face it, only poor people would buy a hyundai. no rich person is ever gonna say, 'oh wow, im rich, time to buy a hyundai'.
Nima Bahrehdar "You want to buy a Caddy, BMW, or Lexus to tell your friends I drive a lux."
I don't, and those kinds of people might legitimately be mentally handicapped.
Wait and see how many Genesis will be sold in 2014 and 2015, and how many BMW, Lexus, etc.
Go and study consumer behavior.
Nima Bahrehdar They won't understand something like consumer behavior. Your typical person doesn't think it's relevant.
Well said
It's fucking awkward how the Chrysler/Aston martin-esque badge on the front of the Genesis is so radically different from the Hyundai emblem on the back. Or that they even used different emblems for the front and back at all. It's plain bi-polar. Then you've got the Genesis emblem is on the steering wheel and not on the motor cover. That's almost enough reason to not even consider the car.
wait till the genesis r-spec
Looks - Cadillac
Power - Cadillac
Handling - Cadillac
2014 Car of the Year - Cadillac
Grandpa Vibes - Genesis
Genesis is by far the better car. Pick the V6 with AWD + all packages and you got a Merc E350 4Matic for $20000 less while having a lot better MPG and safety.
I did a lot of shopping around and ended up getting an Audi A6 2.0. I got a very good price on it. My close second option would definitely be the CTS 2.0T. I tried the Genesis.... and I hated it. it's great car for Uber drivers, but that's about it.
The Cadillac is gorgeous but for me it's the Hyundai + (almost) BRZ
Great review!
Cadillac should feel offended for this comparison
Hyundai stole design cues from Mercedes and Cadillac. They're not confident with their own designs and tbh there aren't that great
"hyundai stole design from mes and cadillac".~ u made me laugh so hard hahahaha
Finally GM & Hyundai are getting their styling together. Now if they could just make a BMW 2 series competitor I'd be sold.
A sports luxury sedan vs a luxury sedan...
Doesn't make sense huh?
I say pair the Hyundai up against the Cadillac CT6
Umm there is no comparing the 2 pick the Cadillac worth the money.
Um, no. Not worth 17k more. It will depreciate as bad as the Hyundai lol
The new genesis actually look nice in my opinion. I don't know who'd want to spend 70k on a Cadillac considering the myriad of other cars you can buy with that kind of money. It's not even an iconic Escalade. Hyundai has come far, they just still have a bit of a stigma is all
Nice Audi grille, Hyundai. One day you'll build a car with personality...
haha you mean nice Hyundai Grill Audi! Do you appreciate the designer or the product? One thing i learned as a professional, a company can only own a product but the talent stays with the professional or in this case the designer.
You do know who designs Hyundai cars now right?
SanDiegoInnOut that's exactly what they said when LEXUS came out. Wait a while. Nay sayers are always noisy at the beginning.
You just made yourself look incredibly stupid haha...ask Peter...oh wait you won't know who that is or where he's even from. Lol. Ignorant fools like you....sigh
KWaveWorldWide he has no clue who peter schreyer. Hes just a Hyundai hater. But in all fairness he spends more time with Kia then he does with Hyundai.
can someone tell me what car passess by on the opposite lane in7:50 beside the cadillac its also a white sedan. please? anyone thank you
It’s an old comment but that’s a Ford Fusion.
I just said that brother, I said a standard S6 is around $80K, at least where I live, I think you replied to the wrong person lol
I'd take the Genesis over the Cadillac any day. I've the worst luck with anything GM.
CAn anyone explain what that oblong of clear plastic on the front grill is for? Thanks. :-))
It's a sensor
+Michael Lawrence its a sensor that scanes the road ahead, it can be seen on all mersedes S class's since 2006.

LOL. They chose the Genesis. LOL I'd easily pay the extra money for the Cadillac, despite it's JLo butt. I swear, some of the "conclusions" these guys at Auto Guide make are head-shakers for sure.
Biased American, it's all about how awesome the Australian genesis looks and it's interior, basically an awesome Asian Rolls Royce
Kishen hargovind
POS, more like it.
And there they go..............
You'd also be an idiot to do so, get your head out of your ass.
Necrodox
Right, as I show you my exhaust. Buh, bye little p*ssy Genesis driver.
Cadillac, BMW, Lexus or Audi are best brands. I won't even drive a Hyundai or Kia for free.
Jai Rajasekaran LOL,because you are kid!!!12 years old stupid kid...
Jai Rajasekaran Funny. Not everybody drive to race. Go get yourself a honda civic with rice muffler. :)
Daniel Miller Oh how typical. You sound like your downsyndrome American reject.
Rajeesh. You sound like you need to stick to a rickshaw!
Genesis for the win!
Cadillac owner here and I can say the genesis is pretty nice
