Quick correction: in the opening info dump the movie specifically notes that the new plasma energy that had been developed actually drawed Godzilla, causing them to have to scrap the whole thing. That's why it was such a big deal when it was discovered to be secretly being worked on.

The whole Godzilla going after plasma power was a plot point through out the movie. The attack in the beginning where the main lady's squad was killed? Going after plasma. Godzilla's breath being gold instead of blue? He still has the Plasma stolen in the beginning. Why is he back? Secret Plasma generator.
I wouldn't really call it a black hole. It's more of a miniature vortex portal. The weapon itself is called the Dimension Tide. It may also help explain the wormhole thing.
Well, Godzilla is only dangerous when we have nuclear radiation leaks, and only to the cities where the leaks happen. Naturally, we should find a way to stop him for good...I know! Lets drop a Black Hole on him! You know, the possibly most dangerous thing we know of in outer space? Brilliant.
And even so THAT still didn’t stop him. Merely delayed the inevitable. But that’s a serious durability feat for Godzilla. I mean he wasn’t harmed at all by the Black Hole.
To all those people complaining that Decker is pronouncing Megaguirus incorrectly, skip to 19:52 and listen to how this version's main scientist says it....
The best part during the first appearance of Megaguirus is that the controlling strings are clearly visible. Even though they could have been easily removed, somewhere along the line the decision must have been made to leave them in. I didn't mind, kinda hearkened back to the older films. Rubber suit all the way, CGI sucks (although I thought that the Shin Godzilla design looked pretty good, loved the fire breath, hated the lasers)
My favorite thing about the godzilla series is when they realize "hmmm... Maybe godzilla is not trying to kill us but help us" and how they do more damage trying to get rid of him then he does

Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs Megaguirus take place in two different universes even though the movies share the same suits and color of Atomic breath it confused me too at first but in the Godzilla vs Megaguirus Godzilla is the same Godzilla from 1954 because the oxygen destroyer was never used in this universe.

A two meter across amount of neutron star would weight more than a continent. A two meter across black hole would weigh more than the earth by a *large* margin.
I have a bias towards this film because it was my first Godzilla film. I put this in my top 10 if not top 5. it has good music and i love the final fight scene
