If Kat losing her powers when submerged in water makes Decker lose his mind, imagine what would happen to him when he finds out that the green Zeo ranger had a zord that could operate fine underwater
CarRanger was smart, the previous sentai OhRanger was just as overpowered as Zeo was done, but CarRanger was made into a satire and comedic series. They diffused the fact OhRanger had basically one of the most serious and powerful Sentai teams by taking a "year off" of serious stories. Turbo was supposed to be an upgrade, and failed in my eyes as the supposed next level of Power Rangers. On the bright side Power Rangers: In Space had some really good writing and did some decent lore building.
I didn't remember this movie at all until i saw the kid and I was like "oh... Oh dear God, is THAT one"

Also, the original adaptation saved the franchise, after their previous series was a ratings disaster, due to what happened in 1995.

Ohranger is both the worst and the best of Super Sentai. Worst because the two real-life disasters in Japan pretty much screwed up the original Ohranger plot due to the retool of the second half. Best is because the merchandise for Ohranger has earned a lot of money, making Ohranger the most financially successful, and from what I heard prevented Ohranger from cancelation.
This movie is one of the first times I can recall being really pissed off that a kid got put in a show (or movie) I liked. I never EVER used them as a self insert fantasy as intended; I just hated them. Always.

The only time I used a kid character, as a character to play as, with my friends, would be Short-Round from Temple of Doom. I was 7.

Fun fact: the concept of Power Rangers Turbo came from a Super Sendai parody series called Carranger. The fact that they used this comedy Sentai as a basis baffles me, since they traded giant zords for cars!!
I met Hilary Shepard and Nakia buriess at the comic con in my hometown they was very nice i even got some pictures with them
I met Hilary Shepherd too, but it was because i knew her from a movie called HUNK. She told me it was one of Brad Pitts first roles.
Damn near the entire cast is active on the convention circuit. All are super nice too

Power rangers ratings were getting low are the time and it's viewers were eye grabbed by another saban show called Big Bad Beetleborgs/ beetleborgs metallics and thought this would work for power rangers
It backfired.. and it caused a chain reaction to certain events that would almost killed the Power rangers Brand.
The Beetle borgs shows were really great in my opinion

While I like the suits in Beetleborg Metallics…that season was not good and oh boy it did not end well especially when it ended on a cliffhanger mostly because mostly they ran out of footage of the b-fighter kabuto series and that was also the last of the metal hero series if I recall. There was also the that Ninja Turtle show and it did not end well at all as well. Turbo definitly almost killed Power Rangers series. Then the Space season came and that was a great season.

7:10 Donene Kistler is the actress who is in the Alpha 5 suit. However the voice for Alpha is Richard Horvitz. It did change as the series continued, but 9/10 times when you hear, 'Alpha from Power Rangers', the, "Aye aye aye Aye *AYE* " you hear in your head, is his voice. (Also did Invader Zim, Daggett from Angry Beavers, *maAany* more)

Which is so weird because the first Power Rangers movie was noncanon.
I prefer to forget that season happened and just skip to Power Rangers in Space. Once was enough and the best part was the theme song sooooo yeah.

I understand creepy raging because of the Car theme.... considering that the Power Ranger franchise at that time took it more seriously and be not too comedic as possible......and the fact that the Sentai Version of Turbo was A Comedic Series made ut mych more sense

this is just my thought but my guess is when cat tried to transform. when she hit the water it caused her arms to move and it disconnected the two parts of the zeo morpher and cancelled it out.
though this just brings up another problem as the show has always made it seem that their transformations were instant

The almost zeo morph apparently came from earlier drafts where we watched the rangers lose their powers. Again. And instead they shoved it in with no explanation, and then... They just, kinda, like, get new powers.

I've always wondered have you thought of reviewing the jaws series? I know the first one is unanimously considered amazing and there isn't much to talk about there but the other 3 I feel would fit particularly well with your b movie reviews especially 3 and 4. Wow, I thought, a Power Ranger my kids, or Grand Kids, didn't make me see... then I started watching your review, and it all came back. You know I actually don't mind much of the Power Ranger stories, (I can watch them with my grands and not go screaming from the room, (minor grumblings don't count,)) but this one really was terrible, and not so bad it's good terrible either.

Doing the final episode of the zeo quest arc in MMAR ( mighty Morphin alien rangers) Aisha who was in Africa trying to find her part of the zeo sub crystal gave it to Tanya and was sent back to the current time in her place thus Tanya became the new yellow ranger.
This movie is a sour spot for me. I loved this movie watched it a million times and had a vhs of it in 2nd grade and brought it to school for show and tell. This boy i liked asked me to borrow it and he NEVER GAVE IT BACK! I remember Jamon, you asshole! My favorite scene was the desert driving with the power rangers turbo music.
I had a crush on Hilary Shephard when she was in Hunk, when i was 10. 😮
At the time Turbo was on TV. I was starting to out grow Power Rangers. I watched a few episodes and kept asking myself, "why the villain dressed like she is a stripper? What happens when someone trying to escape the daily monster was driving down the road where the ranger's cars emerge." Seriously about that. Their "garage" is in the middle of a road that splits open. The rangers are more dangerous here.
My favorite explanation for WHY ARE THEY USING CARS??? is that Zordon was planning on taking the Zeo crystal with him when he returned to Eltar (first 2 episodes of the Turbo season). Not wanting to leave Earth defenseless, he had Billy create the Turbo zords/power. That's where he was going when he kept disappearing during Zeo.

Given the sheer number of universe threatening devices, monsters, factions, and ect out there why does it surprise people when zordon only tells the rangers about the immediate ones?

I haven't seen this movie so I don't know if there's any actual weakness to water or if that was a joke - but I just assumed she transformed because it was supposed to imply the fall into the water may have been fatal had she not been in her power suit - and since it didn't cover her legs before she hit the water, they were injured. Basically she attempted to transform so she could survive/brace the fall, then took the suit back off to swim (not sure if there's any reason not to wear it while swimming but meh).
Damn I remember watching this on vhs all the time as a kid.
While I loved it as kid it didn't age very well haha

Following up a high budget movie with this was just embarrassing. Turbo: a Power Rangers Movie should’ve been a TV movie or direct-to-video movie.
At least they used actual suits for the kaiju fight. Not the terrible CGI finale of the original movie.

12:28 If you look closely you see the morpher on Kat's wrist magically disappear, reappear, get torn off as she falls, then magically reappear again. I suspect originally the morper was supposed to get ripped off as she fell so she couldn't morph. If that's true I have no idea why they redid it so that she morphed.

Thing is about Power Rangers TV shows and the 90s movies, they know they're corny and goofy. Powers Rangers 2017 tried to be so "dark and edgy" and it just turned out to be corny and goofy. XD
The 17 film had a lot going for it, it needed to lighten up a bit for sure. But the art department needs to be taken into a field and shot
They have incredible power but it's one weakness is water. They live on a planet where 70% of the surface is covered by water.🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
Just speculating here. Maybe it's not a problem with the Zeo power itself, but the morphers (probably just Earth tech built by Billy and Alpha). They get wet, the electronics short out. Also as someone above said, her arms got knocked apart by the impact. So maybe that's what interrupted her morphing -- you have to keep the 2 parts of the Zeonizer together through the whole morph or it fails.

In the show whenever they take a lot of damage they demorph essentially like temporary HP when it runs out they go back to their normal form that's why she didn't die when she fell in the water that's also why she demorphed when she hit the water

I feel you, Decker. I will admit that I saw this in theaters and I liked it at the time. But I was just a child then. When I watched it again sometime later, I realized that this movie was crap. The 1995 film, while cheesy, it has its charm in some areas. Not good, but I would rather watch it over this.
I will note that I did like the 2017 film. Decker, I don't know how you would feel about that one, but I'm sure you would think that the 2017 Power Rangers movie is miles, and I mean MILES better than this travesty.
I cant speak for decker for the 2017 movie. But of I were to guess it will either be a 3 or a high 2 (similar to Hatchet).

I think a better way to go would have been to have it so that Devatox, upon arriving on Earth, recognizes that the planet's strongest defenders are the Power Rangers and decides to get rid of them by picking them off one by one. Rocky is her first target and is ambushed while walking home. He puts up a good fight but is ultimately overwhelmed. The others arrive in time to prevent him from getting killed but by then he's already taken a serious beating and is out of commission. This would remove Rocky in a believable way and would set Devatox up as a very real threat, raising the stakes significantly.

From what I read apparently there was meant to be an explanation of how they went from zeo to turbo but It got cut from the film it was Johnny bosch was the one who said it

as a kid i loved this movie, i didnt care that it was all talking, as an adult.... my nostalgia is too damn high, though i do agree it is bad. i have given every season of PR a chance amd have loved most of them. Itll be very funny to see Deckers reaction to the 2017 movie, which actually works as a pretty damn good teen drama, that just so happens to have PR sprinkled in then shoved in the face for the last 15 minutes or so.
I only remember this because when I was younger and my cousin was only 7 or 6 had to watch the entire VHS collection of power rangers movie and TV movies

I liked Season 1, LOVED the thunder zord season, hated the ninja stuff, loved Zero, and when Turbo came out I completely tuned out and stopped watching. Divatox was my prepubescent fantasy tho.
