@@bensisneroz7027 I got them before they went bye bye, but I have to say this company kind of deserved everything that happened to them. They had a bad history of putting out broken things, and not fixing them. They also didn't listen to their fan base whatsoever, promised all new physics changes for everything and never delivered. They also put out Stern Pinball Arcade as a separate product, many like me paid for all the packs on it, and they left it with completely game breaking glitches on most the tables, without fixing it, then completely ended support for it and started selling the "fixed" tables on PBA instead. They are just a terrible company and it's very clear they are paying for it now.
When farsight studios lost the licence to Williams/Bally, they promised to continue releasing tables from the other developers but they didn't. They seemed to have canned the whole thing. Why?

The best move is to get the disc versions of pinball arcade 1/2/Stern if you're on PS5/4/X. With the exception of of the vintage Gottlieb stuff. The vintage packs are still the same price if you want them. The disc are only $25 tops and AC/DC as well as the Williams tables are yours for life. PA 1 =22tables PA 2 = 20tables Stern = 11 incl. AC/DC
Who drives an hour and half just to torture themselves? The voices of the gophers alone are fucking annoying, the sound FX is even worse. One of the most annoying tables ever made.

Main thing I remember was waiting for years for physics overhaul, which was never delivered. Disappointing platform, but did introduce me to pinball emulation
I played my first pinball pc game in the 90's. And now in the more modern days, i first discovered Pinball FX 3, wich is great. But graphic wise, Zaccaria Pinball is just awesome. You know, with the raytracing going on, and all the customisation abilities you have. You can choose the glow of the led's and their color, how much the upper glass reflects, how scratched or dirty it is, how much the playground reflects. You can choose the weather outside, and day with rain or sun , or night time, night time even with a thunderstorm going on outside. You can even choose where your virtual flat is at, a bit. Countryside or skyscraper city. Even wich couch color and the pillow design in your room. You can choose wich ambient light is in the room. You can choose another ball skin. Even a transparent one with led's IN IT, that are glowing, and cause this cool raytracing shining when it is spinning. It gives you almost 30 retro tables for 1,11 buck atm , wich normally cost you 1,59 bucks. I am not kidding. And the rest of the tables are under 1,50 , some right at 2 bucks each , at the moment . The only thing i find better in Pinball FX 3 is the sound the ball does , when hitting something, and rolling.
Crow, just finished watching your entire run of PBA videos. Loved it. I was late to the game and only have the 60ish tables that are now available on the PS4 via disc and DLC. But I really enjoyed seeing the tables that are no longer available, makes me wish I had gotten into it all sooner. I also have all the Zaccaria and Pinball FX3 tables available on the PS4 and I am working my way through your vids on them. Just wanted to say thanks for your hard work.
Great video, really interesting. From my point of view, Pinball Arcade is the best value for money pinball on Steam. On sale, 50% discount make the packs really cheap. In addition, classical EM tables and simpler ones are not being released on Pinball Fx3... For a classical player, only Zaccaria Pinball is an interesting retro alternative, with an european flavour, of course. I'm one of the few pinball players that still prefer Gottlieb over Williams tables, so I will stay with Pinball Arcade.
@@CrowContinuum Any plans on a video comparing the philosophy and differences between the style and gameplay of Gottlieb/Zaccaria and Williams/Stern tables? I think that it would be really interesting to expose in a video the differences in design, mechanics and shots based on your personal experience. I feel a big breaking off between the classic tables and his neat, skilled and sometimes unforgiving gameplay, and the more complex gameplay, set of rules and long games in tables since the 80-90s decades. That historical evolution intrigues me... Is there any books or videos covering this? Thanks in advance
@@pinballwiz45b Indeed. I ordered Stern Pinball Arcade for Xbox One and at first, the disc didn't work. I had to fully uninstall ALL files for Stern Pinball Arcade, then load everything off the disc, re-download patches, and I ended up with all three versions of AC/DC.
True... They still havent fixed the issue regarding the DX11 version not going into "Fullscreen Mode" and until that's sorted, I'm not picking up the packs.
Still waiting for them to fix Ghostbusters.... I can't even enjoy it on TPA cause the rom speed is so off (never mind it not being updated code wise) :(
Love the Gottlieb EM pack. Looks like that's the only true EM pack for The Pinball Arcade, correct? What other pinball video games have EM packs; Bally, Williams, etc.?
Aside from the lack of any new releases, the problem with TPA is that it looks like a barren wasteland in terms of quality when you compare it to the state it was in circa may 2018. I like a lot of the Gottlieb tables, but even it's best output could never match Williams and Bally in their primes. I think a lot of TPA's userbase has transferred to Zen Studios, who have always seemed a bit more transparent and userfriendly for the average consumer. If you kept up with all the seasons it's really bizarre to witness Whoa Nellie as their series finale so to speak.
I love a few of the classic Gottlieb but watching this, MAN Stern has some great tables. It really sucks PA lost Williams. But they need to get back up on their feet and release more Stern tables. I'd had to just see Zen get everything. PA with Stern/Gottlieb and Zen with Williams and their made up tables would be some good competition. If Zen gets everything, competition is gone.
19:41 I used to play that table at work all the time. I worked overnight at a laundromat, this and Kiss pinball i must have tossed at least $100 into. I also remember Mustang, it wasn't the more premium table with the car toy though.
@Michelle O - yep. The whole situation with the Pinball Arcade makes a really good case for physical releases over digital. I mean, I know a lot of those tables that went MIA are either available through Zen Studios or they will be. But it's a disconcerting state of affairs!
I have all 100 tables for PC and Android. There are still hundreds of tables for Gottlieb, and tons for Stern with new Stern tables being released every year. Come on Pinball Arcade please keep releasing tables. Lord of the Rings by Stern next please.
'Lord of the Rings' is complicated. I don't think it would ever be released. Mainly because there would be so many licenses to sign - in terms of music, names, etc.
I always felt that two Gottlieb EM tables that should have made the The Pinball Arcade roster were both from 1971, the two-player table Lawman and four-player Orbit.
Great video, really well edited. I haven't kept up with the pinball simulation scene. FarSight's Pinball Arcade game is new to me. It seems impressive, but how does it compare to PinMAME? I don't see any LED scoreboards here, or backglass artwork, so it looks incomplete?
Crow, NOW I know why you weren't into the ToyShock Pinball. It's skinned just like Haunted House :) Just kidding, I know it's more than that, but didn't know you didn't care for Haunted House. I'm SO GLAD I finally found someone besides me who doesn't like Goin' Nuts. I think I only played it once or twice on Pinball Arcade and I was SO DISMAYED to see it on the ToyShock. It's just as bad there (actually worse because of the lag). I also don't care for El Dorado City Of Gold, mostly because of the sound effects (they grate on my ears). You're right, the older El Dorado is much better. And I got to thank you Crow, because you put the word out when Pinball Arcade was losing the Bally Williams tables and it got me to pick up the packs I didn't have before they were gone. I only had two more to pick up at that point and one was on sale, TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! During this Lunar sale, I finally bit the bullet and picked up Stern Pack 1, because I had to have the new Star Trek Vengeance Premium table. I already had all the other tables in Stern Pack 1 when I purchased the original Pinball Arcade legacy packs, but when I saw noticed it was $4.99 (I remember seeing it for $9.99 before, and according to Steamdb, it was), I made the purchase. Yes, that's a bit high for one table, but if I bought it from the Pinball Arcade software individually, it was 9 bucks! I have so much enjoyment with this table that 5 bucks is worth it for me :) I now own all the Pinball Arcade tables except for Mustang (Not picking up that one until they fix the graphic anomalies for anything painted red, flicker city! Happens for me both in DX9 and DX11 in any setting config.), Woah Nelly! Big Juicy Melons and Big Buck Hunter. I really want Woah Nelly, but just can't justify $14.99 for two tables. I am bummed I missed out on AC DC though. The only one I'll never have unless Pinball Arcade can swing the license back. Fantastic presentation as always Crow! vgv
Crow, Thanks for that! I didn't know there was a physical version. Definitely going to pick that up! I REALLY want to see Pinball Arcade come back in a big way. Hopefully with the resurgence of VPin interest due to Arcade1up and ToyShock making affordable replica solutions, maybe FarSight Studios will be able to make it back in that space. After running pinball arcade into the ground over 5+ years, it's safe to say that Stern pack one on Steam is the best bang for the buck/fun for the monies. You get Poor Man's twilight zone and Star Trek, win!
Good video. I really hope they continue with the Pinball Arcade. I find the tables to be much more controllable than Zen's Williams tables, thus I return to it more often. Even if it's just Gottlieb stuff (or some more Data East, Sega, Stern stuff), I don't care.
Pinball Arcade has awful physics, has nothing to do with pinball at all. Zen Williams on classic arcade is where it is at as far as digital pinball goes. Pinball Arcade is like a collection of fanmade visual pinball tables, nothing more.
@@mindfloat29 I find that Zen's physics are just as bad, but in a different way. Neither "simulation" is a replacement for the real deal, but they are still fun to play on their own.
I know it's probably never going to happen, but i would pay a premium price for a heavy metal bands pack: Kiss (of course--both the classic 70's table as well as the newer one!!), Metallica, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses. Wish there was such a thing as a Led Zep table and a MegaDeth table, and a Black Sabbath table
You forgot one important detail here: under at least mobile, even if you own parts of the pack, you need to buy the whole thing over again for the single newer table. Either that or you pay more for a single table.

The Stern Pack 1 (including AC/DC), without Flight 2000, IS available on Switch... if you buy the physical Stern Pinball Arcade game. The tables are on the game card, so no lost license there. It also includes Last Action Hero and the more recent Ghostbusters table. :)
I can't blame Pinball Arcade for abandoning licensed pinball games. As the loss of the Bally/Williams license showed, basing a company on a short-term license that can be transferred to a competitor is a risky gamble. The years of investment they placed on developing the tables vanished overnight. And of the remaining tables, people complain about having to pay $2.50 a table rather than $1.50. Who needs that kind of aggravation? Perhaps they could have continued by developing their own table designs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're currently sour on pinball and just want to move on. I bought all the Bally/Williams tables before they disappeared and prefer them to the Pinball FX versions. If there are any EM tables that I'm missing, I should probably buy them before they disappear, too, which seems like something that could happen any day now without notice.
Thanks for making this video. I owned the Physical copy of Stern Pinball Arcade on the Switch. So, many of the tables here doesn't apply to me... but I think I will give it a download just to buy the EM Tables Pack for a bit more "variety".

Going to be really surprised if we ever see any new tables or update(s) from them. It just seems like they're done. When we barely see any news, streams, or general announcements from any developer, it leaves a bad feeling in your stomach.

There is so much that they could be doing with the Stern license. "Stranger Things," "Elvira's House of Horrors," "The Munsters," "The Beatles Pinball," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Batman 1966" to name just a few. Pinball FX3 seems to have slowed down too (during the current crisis). However one that hasn't slowed down is Zacarria Pinball. They (I know you know this) released a new table as recently as last month, and their tables are very affordable. I own every TPA table (including "AC/DC"), Pinball FX3 table, and Zaccaria Pinball table. I also own Stern Pinball Arcade, but it doesn't run properly on my PC. A lot of slow-down.
@@CrowContinuum How are the tables that they are working on different? There was mention in the forums on Steam that the tables made by Jersey Jack, as an example, aren't possible with TPA. So I'm curious how the next batch of tables are different from what Zen has already released.. I remember a podcast that Zen Studios did when they acquired the Bally/Williams licence where they mentioned that tables requiring a secondary licence (such as a movie/TV tie-in) wouldn't happen until Volume 4 or 5. So, it's time for those to start appearing. Thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

I unfortunately was not so lucky to have all 100 tables. I got the Gottlieb pack a couple days ago, but I seem to only find Frank Thomas Big Hurt. I thought there were some EM tables considering that was $4.99. How do I access those particular ones since they have a lot less music.

Will they still release new tables in The Pinball Arcade it’s January 2020 last year they didn’t release anything or is this thè end for the company and jUst those tables left in the game all is all?.?.
On one of their last TPA streams, they mentioned that there was a new table, ready to be released, based on a unreleased pinball machine. I never heard what it was and doubt we ever will.
Just downloaded the regular version of the some of the available tables for PS3, and was paying $6.99. The Gottlieb pack #1 looks pretty good. Should have gone this route. Would've saved a bit. Oh well. Such is life
Zen is smashing it right now with much better physics and a free cabinet mode. When PA did have an available cabinet mode it was done via a 3rd party and cost 150 dollars.
Crow Pinball Now that they’ve seemed to have migrated Stern tables to “Stern Pinball Arcade” and lost their thing with Arcooda and their cabinet mode I don’t see why they don’t offer it as a free add on. I’d still buy the tables for fun even though I know the physics aren’t great. I know there’s the free camera mod available for pinball arcade but it’s still a lot of messing about to get it fluid on my cab with PinballX. Just don’t have that much spare time.

All packs (Gottlieb, Stern, etc) are on sale 60% off at Steam (as of 10/29/21). Get all 38 tables for less than $35. Too bad cabinet support via Arcooda is still $149. Would be nice to see it at 50% or even 20% off.
I think with Stern Pack 1 on Switch, they were probably just too lazy to remove AC/DC and redo the pack without it, so they just took the whole thing down instead, I can't see them ever updating it. That's probably why there's all the price differences too, they just don't care about it any more. There's ongoing rumours about Zen getting the Stern licence which would be really cool, but I'd prefer to see some older SS tables first like Black Knight 2000 or Taxi.
Yeah the Data East/Sega back catalog is sitting doing nothing I could see Zen releasing any licenced tables that they already have previous licenced product for i.e Disney/Fox/Universal from that back catalog.
Not much people putting effort on their side imho. I'v got a table that I bought (WorldCup 94) that shows in the normal mode but when I start in Cabinet mode It won't show. I am still waiting for an answer from their support.
My friend has a class of 1812. I will say that the digital version doesn't do the game justice. If you ever can play one IRL, you may have a different application for it. I felt like you before I played a physical game. Now I think it's one of the best system 3 games
@@CrowContinuum I play digital games with a locked camera view. Not having the camera locked and constantly moving is a little disorienting for me. The hang up with locking the camera is you lose depth perception sometimes. And, class of 1812 is a good example of not seeing the ball interact with the parts further back on the playfield. But, that's just something I noticed for myself from playing digital games and then the physical ones.
So, a little bit of trivia for ya. I’m not sure if it was posted or not, cause I’m not gonna go through 200+ comments, but: The Farsight created “Dr. Who” table was made solely for the purpose of acquiring the rights to the Bally version. If I recall right, the license holders requested a new updated version be made to coincide with the latest series.....hence why we got an updated “Dr. Who” table. Sadly but as expected, it was complete garbage because....well, Farsight is garbage. 😂
@@CrowContinuum Continuum Yeah, the Farsight Ghostbusters was just them messing around for fun, thinking it would sell. LOL A lot of this info I got from a former employee who I was good friends with. A lot of the time, the tables for a season were planned out, but for when a pack wasn't, others were just "We'll decide on a pack when the time comes". The main big tables were chosen by the owner, but a lot of the tables were chosen by Norman, the studio producer. A few tidbits for you: - "Starship Troopers" was chosen purely out of convenience. There was a table at a local pizza shop right down from the studio. - "Phantom of the Opera" was chosen because they couldn't get the rights to "Freddy" when they thought they'd be able to, and I had spent months beforehand begging my buddy and to Farsight on the FB page to get the table. On the day of the decision for that season's "Halloween pack", they were finally going to go with "Phantom of the Opera", but had trouble finding a good working table. The choice was going to be scrapped and they were gonna go with something else. (I forget what they had decided on) So, in a scramble, I told my friend to give me an hour or two, and I'd help them try to find a table that was close to them, state wise. I spent hours trying to find one online that was near them...and was able to find one. (Thank you, Google) So, you can thank me for that one. - "Rescue 911" was all me and my employee friend. I had played the table a few times as a kid and loved it, it was one of the few Gottlieb tables that I thought was fun, and my employee friend knew this, so he campaigned for it every single meeting when the discussion of "What's next" came up. The issue was that Norman HATED the table, and just refused to go with it. So, if you remember right, on the Farsight Facebook page, there was a crazy amount of daily requests posts, for MONTHS, of people requesting and begging for "Rescue 911".....a majority of those accounts were me. lol I literally spent about a year, using fake accounts, to request the table. In the end, they got sick and tired of seeing the daily posts and got sick of my employee friend bringing it up, so they finally gave in. Again, you're welcome. - "Lights, Camera, Action" was all Norman. For some reason, he loved that table, when most everyone in the studio HATED it. - "F-14 Tomcat" was another table that Norman HATED and refused to add until he got tired of the endless requests from the fans on Facebook and employees at the studio. He never understood why anyone liked the table. - "Swords of Fury" was chosen purely as a favor for my employee friend from Norman. My friend and I really wanted that table, and he spent a long while trying to convince Norman to choose it....even when Norman HATED it. (See a pattern of Norman's pinball taste here? It was awful) - "Cactus Jacks" and "Wipe Out" were another pair we both spent trying to convince them to choose, instead of having them pick their usual choice of a terrible Gottlieb table like "Lights, Camera, Action". My buddy would bring CC and WO up in meetings, and by this time, I was talking one on one with Bobby King, who was Vice President. I'd talk to him on Facebook here and there. - "Shaq Attaq Pinball", "StarGate" and "Freddy" were the main Gottlieb tables that my friend and I tried to convince Bobby to get, but apparently, all were too expensive of a license. The closest of the three they ever came to getting was "Stargate", but negotiations apparently broke down. "Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure" was their #1 table they tried to get for years, but they blew it on the initial phone call to the rights holders. On the initial call, Farsight apparently low balled them so much, they not only were denied, by all subsequent phone calls to the holders went unanswered or/and unreturned. lol This is usually how things went with Farsight. "Tales from the Crypt" was another one they spent years trying to get, but as we saw with the failed TV re-boot, way too many people held different parts of the licenses. - A few tables were able to be had because of a friend of Slash, who had access to a lot of pinball tables. If not, they used the Museum of Pinball to do the scans of the tables. - A lot of times, to get the licensed songs for the tables, they would just add them in and hope nobody would notice. I know for a fact they used a ZZ Top song without permission, and they used another one once (I forget what it was now), got caught, and had to write a nice little check. So there ya go, there's a few tidbits for ya!
Farsight "could" make so, so many tables, even digital ones; why not a Pro-Pinball pack, with Timeshock, Big Race, Fantastic Journey & The Web?, or the more than two dozen tables made by Wildfire Studios?, but they just don't do it. Instead they made that infamous "Stern Pinball" that's just... ugh
You have to build a small virtual pinball, it's so much better, or go with the Switch in Portrait Mode, It's not costly or hard to build A old pc, 2 x screens (tv or monitor) a zero delay encoder, 10 x mixed button's, 12mm MDF, glue, screws paint, x360ce with allow the encoder to be a xbox controller, then mapped to the buttons

To me, it just seems TPA did not make much money from the Licensed Williams tables, so they might have been kind of glad to let them go. Would be interesting if Zen told us how they are going with the tables now.

There are still so many titles from Gottlieb, Stern and Jersey Jack Pinball amongst others to reproduce..... Although losing Williams/Bally was a huge blow, how come FarSight hasn’t moved forward and produced any other tables from the other manufacturers? It’s like they’ve just abandoned the Pinball Arcade customers in favor of persuing their other home self branded games.
I'm running through all 98 tables and had to have a fan offer to let me use their account to do Seasons 3 onward, and I have no pro tables for 1 - 2. You can actually get Seasons 1 - 2 on disc on PS4 for around $20 each. Season 2 only came out in the UK, but the PS4 is region free. The hangup is you can't get trophies. But I've played through all the tables and they work great on PS4, so if that's an option, those discs are out of print and the price could go up on them. Don't wait on it.

A fan bought my discs for more and then another fan let me log into their account to play and review the delisted tables. There's ONE legal way (maybe) to get them all and that's to take a license on a virtual pinball machine kit.
when i downloaded pinball arcade on my Switch it already came with Frankstein free to play. i don't know if any of the other consoles or pc did that to but maybe that's why they don't have the stern pack on switch???
Pinball arcade is dead now after thay lost there license to zen pinball thay no longer have new packs Thay could of tryed to acquire Sega or data east license but they decided to just kill off the arcade
Anyone else got trouble with the menu on Android? It breaks for me after exiting a table, can't scroll properly, or choose anything, it's like the top 50% of the touch area has been moved to the bottom half, when you touch the middle right of the display it registers as top right. I have been in touch with their support, and been ignored. It has persisted for many many years now. I just have to kill the app when I'm done with a table and start over.
Interesting video, i have PBA on android and pc just a pity that i didn;t know until it was too late that Gottlieb and Williams were no longer supported as they make some of the best tables. Lost all my high scores on Android due to the way in which you save the game, there are only 2 save slots and you cannot save the game unless one of them is empty so ended up deleting the wrong save file. I also find on pc high scores sometimes disappear, ones that have been there for a while, which makes the game pointless as it is all about the scores.

Because FX3 exists and has completely stolen their entire audience.

The best move is to get the disc versions of pinball arcade 1/2/Stern if you're on PS5/4/X. With the exception of of the vintage Gottlieb stuff. The vintage packs are still the same price if you want them. The disc are only $25 tops and AC/DC as well as the Williams tables are yours for life.

Who drives an hour and half just to torture themselves? The voices of the gophers alone are fucking annoying, the sound FX is even worse. One of the most annoying tables ever made.

FR, they could have made digital versions of Spooky and Jersey Jack. Even went for Atari or flipperless EM. Instead TPA is like the Ozymadius poem.

Main thing I remember was waiting for years for physics overhaul, which was never delivered. Disappointing platform, but did introduce me to pinball emulation
I played my first pinball pc game in the 90's. And now in the more modern days, i first discovered Pinball FX 3, wich is great. But graphic wise, Zaccaria Pinball is just awesome. You know, with the raytracing going on, and all the customisation abilities you have. You can choose the glow of the led's and their color, how much the upper glass reflects, how scratched or dirty it is, how much the playground reflects. You can choose the weather outside, and day with rain or sun , or night time, night time even with a thunderstorm going on outside. You can even choose where your virtual flat is at, a bit. Countryside or skyscraper city. Even wich couch color and the pillow design in your room. You can choose wich ambient light is in the room. You can choose another ball skin. Even a transparent one with led's IN IT, that are glowing, and cause this cool raytracing shining when it is spinning. It gives you almost 30 retro tables for 1,11 buck atm , wich normally cost you 1,59 bucks. I am not kidding. And the rest of the tables are under 1,50 , some right at 2 bucks each , at the moment . The only thing i find better in Pinball FX 3 is the sound the ball does , when hitting something, and rolling.
Crow, just finished watching your entire run of PBA videos. Loved it. I was late to the game and only have the 60ish tables that are now available on the PS4 via disc and DLC. But I really enjoyed seeing the tables that are no longer available, makes me wish I had gotten into it all sooner. I also have all the Zaccaria and Pinball FX3 tables available on the PS4 and I am working my way through your vids on them. Just wanted to say thanks for your hard work.
Great video, really interesting. From my point of view, Pinball Arcade is the best value for money pinball on Steam. On sale, 50% discount make the packs really cheap. In addition, classical EM tables and simpler ones are not being released on Pinball Fx3... For a classical player, only Zaccaria Pinball is an interesting retro alternative, with an european flavour, of course. I'm one of the few pinball players that still prefer Gottlieb over Williams tables, so I will stay with Pinball Arcade.
Seems sad not to re-issue the EM tables these days.

I think that it would be really interesting to expose in a video the differences in design, mechanics and shots based on your personal experience. I feel a big breaking off between the classic tables and his neat, skilled and sometimes unforgiving gameplay, and the more complex gameplay, set of rules and long games in tables since the 80-90s decades. That historical evolution intrigues me... Is there any books or videos covering this? Thanks in advance

@@pinballwiz45b Indeed. I ordered Stern Pinball Arcade for Xbox One and at first, the disc didn't work. I had to fully uninstall ALL files for Stern Pinball Arcade, then load everything off the disc, re-download patches, and I ended up with all three versions of AC/DC.
True... They still havent fixed the issue regarding the DX11 version not going into "Fullscreen Mode" and until that's sorted, I'm not picking up the packs.

Love the Gottlieb EM pack. Looks like that's the only true EM pack for The Pinball Arcade, correct? What other pinball video games have EM packs; Bally, Williams, etc.?
When they lost the Bally williams tables it killed my interest in this collection, Twilight Zone was the reason why i bought it in the first place.

Aside from the lack of any new releases, the problem with TPA is that it looks like a barren wasteland in terms of quality when you compare it to the state it was in circa may 2018. I like a lot of the Gottlieb tables, but even it's best output could never match Williams and Bally in their primes.
I think a lot of TPA's userbase has transferred to Zen Studios, who have always seemed a bit more transparent and userfriendly for the average consumer.
If you kept up with all the seasons it's really bizarre to witness Whoa Nellie as their series finale so to speak.
I love a few of the classic Gottlieb but watching this, MAN Stern has some great tables. It really sucks PA lost Williams. But they need to get back up on their feet and release more Stern tables. I'd had to just see Zen get everything. PA with Stern/Gottlieb and Zen with Williams and their made up tables would be some good competition. If Zen gets everything, competition is gone.

19:41 I used to play that table at work all the time. I worked overnight at a laundromat, this and Kiss pinball i must have tossed at least $100 into. I also remember Mustang, it wasn't the more premium table with the car toy though.

I mean, I know a lot of those tables that went MIA are either available through Zen Studios or they will be. But it's a disconcerting state of affairs!

I have all 100 tables for PC and Android. There are still hundreds of tables for Gottlieb, and tons for Stern with new Stern tables being released every year. Come on Pinball Arcade please keep releasing tables. Lord of the Rings by Stern next please.
'Lord of the Rings' is complicated. I don't think it would ever be released. Mainly because there would be so many licenses to sign - in terms of music, names, etc.

I always felt that two Gottlieb EM tables that should have made the The Pinball Arcade roster were both from 1971, the two-player table Lawman and four-player Orbit.
Great video, really well edited. I haven't kept up with the pinball simulation scene. FarSight's Pinball Arcade game is new to me. It seems impressive, but how does it compare to PinMAME? I don't see any LED scoreboards here, or backglass artwork, so it looks incomplete?

I'm SO GLAD I finally found someone besides me who doesn't like Goin' Nuts. I think I only played it once or twice on Pinball Arcade and I was SO DISMAYED to see it on the ToyShock. It's just as bad there (actually worse because of the lag). I also don't care for El Dorado City Of Gold, mostly because of the sound effects (they grate on my ears). You're right, the older El Dorado is much better.
And I got to thank you Crow, because you put the word out when Pinball Arcade was losing the Bally Williams tables and it got me to pick up the packs I didn't have before they were gone. I only had two more to pick up at that point and one was on sale, TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
During this Lunar sale, I finally bit the bullet and picked up Stern Pack 1, because I had to have the new Star Trek Vengeance Premium table. I already had all the other tables in Stern Pack 1 when I purchased the original Pinball Arcade legacy packs, but when I saw noticed it was $4.99 (I remember seeing it for $9.99 before, and according to Steamdb, it was), I made the purchase. Yes, that's a bit high for one table, but if I bought it from the Pinball Arcade software individually, it was 9 bucks! I have so much enjoyment with this table that 5 bucks is worth it for me :)
I now own all the Pinball Arcade tables except for Mustang (Not picking up that one until they fix the graphic anomalies for anything painted red, flicker city! Happens for me both in DX9 and DX11 in any setting config.), Woah Nelly! Big Juicy Melons and Big Buck Hunter. I really want Woah Nelly, but just can't justify $14.99 for two tables.
I am bummed I missed out on AC DC though. The only one I'll never have unless Pinball Arcade can swing the license back.

I REALLY want to see Pinball Arcade come back in a big way. Hopefully with the resurgence of VPin interest due to Arcade1up and ToyShock making affordable replica solutions, maybe FarSight Studios will be able to make it back in that space. If they do, I want to see more Stern Music Pins come out (The Beatles, KISS, Metallica).

After running pinball arcade into the ground over 5+ years, it's safe to say that Stern pack one on Steam is the best bang for the buck/fun for the monies. You get Poor Man's twilight zone and Star Trek, win!
Good video. I really hope they continue with the Pinball Arcade. I find the tables to be much more controllable than Zen's Williams tables, thus I return to it more often. Even if it's just Gottlieb stuff (or some more Data East, Sega, Stern stuff), I don't care.
Pinball Arcade has awful physics, has nothing to do with pinball at all. Zen Williams on classic arcade is where it is at as far as digital pinball goes. Pinball Arcade is like a collection of fanmade visual pinball tables, nothing more.
@@mindfloat29 I find that Zen's physics are just as bad, but in a different way. Neither "simulation" is a replacement for the real deal, but they are still fun to play on their own.

I know it's probably never going to happen, but i would pay a premium price for a heavy metal bands pack: Kiss (of course--both the classic 70's table as well as the newer one!!), Metallica, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses. Wish there was such a thing as a Led Zep table and a MegaDeth table, and a Black Sabbath table

You forgot one important detail here: under at least mobile, even if you own parts of the pack, you need to buy the whole thing over again for the single newer table. Either that or you pay more for a single table.

The Stern Pack 1 (including AC/DC), without Flight 2000, IS available on Switch... if you buy the physical Stern Pinball Arcade game. The tables are on the game card, so no lost license there. It also includes Last Action Hero and the more recent Ghostbusters table. :)

I purchased all tables before 6/30/18, so my only question is would any of the current table packs have any value for me?
I can't blame Pinball Arcade for abandoning licensed pinball games. As the loss of the Bally/Williams license showed, basing a company on a short-term license that can be transferred to a competitor is a risky gamble. The years of investment they placed on developing the tables vanished overnight. And of the remaining tables, people complain about having to pay $2.50 a table rather than $1.50. Who needs that kind of aggravation? Perhaps they could have continued by developing their own table designs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're currently sour on pinball and just want to move on.
I bought all the Bally/Williams tables before they disappeared and prefer them to the Pinball FX versions. If there are any EM tables that I'm missing, I should probably buy them before they disappear, too, which seems like something that could happen any day now without notice.
I'd like to play Funhouse on Nintendo Switch. But, only Android available. So frustrating!
You're right. For some reason I'm not into the FX3 versions. The physics are better but I'm just not feeling them for some reason.
Thanks for making this video. I owned the Physical copy of Stern Pinball Arcade on the Switch. So, many of the tables here doesn't apply to me... but I think I will give it a download just to buy the EM Tables Pack for a bit more "variety".

Going to be really surprised if we ever see any new tables or update(s) from them. It just seems like they're done. When we barely see any news, streams, or general announcements from any developer, it leaves a bad feeling in your stomach.

VPX VISUAL PINBALL BLOWS THIS GAME AWAY...
There is so much that they could be doing with the Stern license. "Stranger Things," "Elvira's House of Horrors," "The Munsters," "The Beatles Pinball," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Batman 1966" to name just a few. Pinball FX3 seems to have slowed down too (during the current crisis). However one that hasn't slowed down is Zacarria Pinball. They (I know you know this) released a new table as recently as last month, and their tables are very affordable. I own every TPA table (including "AC/DC"), Pinball FX3 table, and Zaccaria Pinball table. I also own Stern Pinball Arcade, but it doesn't run properly on my PC. A lot of slow-down.
@@CrowContinuum How are the tables that they are working on different? There was mention in the forums on Steam that the tables made by Jersey Jack, as an example, aren't possible with TPA. So I'm curious how the next batch of tables are different from what Zen has already released..
I remember a podcast that Zen Studios did when they acquired the Bally/Williams licence where they mentioned that tables requiring a secondary licence (such as a movie/TV tie-in) wouldn't happen until Volume 4 or 5. So, it's time for those to start appearing.

I unfortunately was not so lucky to have all 100 tables. I got the Gottlieb pack a couple days ago, but I seem to only find Frank Thomas Big Hurt. I thought there were some EM tables considering that was $4.99. How do I access those particular ones since they have a lot less music.

Just downloaded the regular version of the some of the available tables for PS3, and was paying $6.99. The Gottlieb pack #1 looks pretty good. Should have gone this route. Would've saved a bit. Oh well. Such is life

Zen is smashing it right now with much better physics and a free cabinet mode. When PA did have an available cabinet mode it was done via a 3rd party and cost 150 dollars.
Crow Pinball Now that they’ve seemed to have migrated Stern tables to “Stern Pinball Arcade” and lost their thing with Arcooda and their cabinet mode I don’t see why they don’t offer it as a free add on. I’d still buy the tables for fun even though I know the physics aren’t great. I know there’s the free camera mod available for pinball arcade but it’s still a lot of messing about to get it fluid on my cab with PinballX. Just don’t have that much spare time.
I loved pinball arcade but the truth is, the company has collapsed and fx3 has become the new king.

The 'Ghostbusters Premium Edition, is NOT an emulation of the real table. This is a table that is drawn.
All packs (Gottlieb, Stern, etc) are on sale 60% off at Steam (as of 10/29/21). Get all 38 tables for less than $35. Too bad cabinet support via Arcooda is still $149. Would be nice to see it at 50% or even 20% off.

Tee'd Off came out first. It was released in 1993, whereas No Good Gofers came out in 1997. It even says that in the flyer of both games.

I think with Stern Pack 1 on Switch, they were probably just too lazy to remove AC/DC and redo the pack without it, so they just took the whole thing down instead, I can't see them ever updating it. That's probably why there's all the price differences too, they just don't care about it any more. There's ongoing rumours about Zen getting the Stern licence which would be really cool, but I'd prefer to see some older SS tables first like Black Knight 2000 or Taxi.
Yeah the Data East/Sega back catalog is sitting doing nothing I could see Zen releasing any licenced tables that they already have previous licenced product for i.e Disney/Fox/Universal from that back catalog.
Not much people putting effort on their side imho. I'v got a table that I bought (WorldCup 94) that shows in the normal mode but when I start in Cabinet mode It won't show. I am still waiting for an answer from their support.
My friend has a class of 1812. I will say that the digital version doesn't do the game justice. If you ever can play one IRL, you may have a different application for it. I felt like you before I played a physical game. Now I think it's one of the best system 3 games
@@CrowContinuum I play digital games with a locked camera view. Not having the camera locked and constantly moving is a little disorienting for me. The hang up with locking the camera is you lose depth perception sometimes. And, class of 1812 is a good example of not seeing the ball interact with the parts further back on the playfield. But, that's just something I noticed for myself from playing digital games and then the physical ones.
So, a little bit of trivia for ya. I’m not sure if it was posted or not, cause I’m not gonna go through 200+ comments, but:
The Farsight created “Dr. Who” table was made solely for the purpose of acquiring the rights to the Bally version.
If I recall right, the license holders requested a new updated version be made to coincide with the latest series.....hence why we got an updated “Dr. Who” table.
Sadly but as expected, it was complete garbage because....well, Farsight is garbage. 😂

A lot of this info I got from a former employee who I was good friends with. A lot of the time, the tables for a season were planned out, but for when a pack wasn't, others were just "We'll decide on a pack when the time comes". The main big tables were chosen by the owner, but a lot of the tables were chosen by Norman, the studio producer. A few tidbits for you:
- "Starship Troopers" was chosen purely out of convenience. There was a table at a local pizza shop right down from the studio.
- "Phantom of the Opera" was chosen because they couldn't get the rights to "Freddy" when they thought they'd be able to, and I had spent months beforehand begging my buddy and to Farsight on the FB page to get the table. On the day of the decision for that season's "Halloween pack", they were finally going to go with "Phantom of the Opera", but had trouble finding a good working table. The choice was going to be scrapped and they were gonna go with something else. (I forget what they had decided on) So, in a scramble, I told my friend to give me an hour or two, and I'd help them try to find a table that was close to them, state wise. I spent hours trying to find one online that was near them...and was able to find one. (Thank you, Google) So, you can thank me for that one.
- "Rescue 911" was all me and my employee friend. I had played the table a few times as a kid and loved it, it was one of the few Gottlieb tables that I thought was fun, and my employee friend knew this, so he campaigned for it every single meeting when the discussion of "What's next" came up. The issue was that Norman HATED the table, and just refused to go with it. So, if you remember right, on the Farsight Facebook page, there was a crazy amount of daily requests posts, for MONTHS, of people requesting and begging for "Rescue 911".....a majority of those accounts were me. lol I literally spent about a year, using fake accounts, to request the table. In the end, they got sick and tired of seeing the daily posts and got sick of my employee friend bringing it up, so they finally gave in. Again, you're welcome.
- "Lights, Camera, Action" was all Norman. For some reason, he loved that table, when most everyone in the studio HATED it.
- "F-14 Tomcat" was another table that Norman HATED and refused to add until he got tired of the endless requests from the fans on Facebook and employees at the studio. He never understood why anyone liked the table.
- "Swords of Fury" was chosen purely as a favor for my employee friend from Norman. My friend and I really wanted that table, and he spent a long while trying to convince Norman to choose it....even when Norman HATED it. (See a pattern of Norman's pinball taste here? It was awful)
- "Cactus Jacks" and "Wipe Out" were another pair we both spent trying to convince them to choose, instead of having them pick their usual choice of a terrible Gottlieb table like "Lights, Camera, Action". My buddy would bring CC and WO up in meetings, and by this time, I was talking one on one with Bobby King, who was Vice President. I'd talk to him on Facebook here and there.
- "Shaq Attaq Pinball", "StarGate" and "Freddy" were the main Gottlieb tables that my friend and I tried to convince Bobby to get, but apparently, all were too expensive of a license. The closest of the three they ever came to getting was "Stargate", but negotiations apparently broke down.
"Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure" was their #1 table they tried to get for years, but they blew it on the initial phone call to the rights holders. On the initial call, Farsight apparently low balled them so much, they not only were denied, by all subsequent phone calls to the holders went unanswered or/and unreturned. lol This is usually how things went with Farsight.
"Tales from the Crypt" was another one they spent years trying to get, but as we saw with the failed TV re-boot, way too many people held different parts of the licenses.
- A few tables were able to be had because of a friend of Slash, who had access to a lot of pinball tables. If not, they used the Museum of Pinball to do the scans of the tables.
- A lot of times, to get the licensed songs for the tables, they would just add them in and hope nobody would notice. I know for a fact they used a ZZ Top song without permission, and they used another one once (I forget what it was now), got caught, and had to write a nice little check.
So there ya go, there's a few tidbits for ya!

Farsight "could" make so, so many tables, even digital ones; why not a Pro-Pinball pack, with Timeshock, Big Race, Fantastic Journey & The Web?, or the more than two dozen tables made by Wildfire Studios?, but they just don't do it. Instead they made that infamous "Stern Pinball" that's just... ugh

You have to build a small virtual pinball, it's so much better, or go with the Switch in Portrait Mode, It's not costly or hard to build
A old pc, 2 x screens (tv or monitor) a zero delay encoder, 10 x mixed button's, 12mm MDF, glue, screws paint, x360ce with allow the encoder to be a xbox controller, then mapped to the buttons
I just made a quickie cabinet out of cardboard to hold a 22" LED, soundbar and Switch dock. Gives a more immersive pinball experience without going full virtual cabinet.

To me, it just seems TPA did not make much money from the Licensed Williams tables, so they might have been kind of glad to let them go.
Would be interesting if Zen told us how they are going with the tables now.

Although losing Williams/Bally was a huge blow, how come FarSight hasn’t moved forward and produced any other tables from the other manufacturers?
It’s like they’ve just abandoned the Pinball Arcade customers in favor of persuing their other home self branded games.
I'm running through all 98 tables and had to have a fan offer to let me use their account to do Seasons 3 onward, and I have no pro tables for 1 - 2. You can actually get Seasons 1 - 2 on disc on PS4 for around $20 each. Season 2 only came out in the UK, but the PS4 is region free. The hangup is you can't get trophies. But I've played through all the tables and they work great on PS4, so if that's an option, those discs are out of print and the price could go up on them. Don't wait on it.
@@CrowContinuum Play Asia has Season 2 with free shipping and they're good folk. A fan bought my discs for more and then another fan let me log into their account to play and review the delisted tables. There's ONE legal way (maybe) to get them all and that's to take a license on a virtual pinball machine kit.

when i downloaded pinball arcade on my Switch it already came with Frankstein free to play. i don't know if any of the other consoles or pc did that to but maybe that's why they don't have the stern pack on switch???

Pinball arcade is dead now after thay lost there license to zen pinball thay no longer have new packs
Thay could of tryed to acquire Sega or data east license but they decided to just kill off the arcade

Anyone else got trouble with the menu on Android? It breaks for me after exiting a table, can't scroll properly, or choose anything, it's like the top 50% of the touch area has been moved to the bottom half, when you touch the middle right of the display it registers as top right. I have been in touch with their support, and been ignored. It has persisted for many many years now. I just have to kill the app when I'm done with a table and start over.

Too bad about the Bally deal. I sure would like to see Eight Ball table from 1978.
Interesting video, i have PBA on android and pc just a pity that i didn;t know until it was too late that Gottlieb and Williams were no longer supported as they make some of the best tables. Lost all my high scores on Android due to the way in which you save the game, there are only 2 save slots and you cannot save the game unless one of them is empty so ended up deleting the wrong save file.
I also find on pc high scores sometimes disappear, ones that have been there for a while, which makes the game pointless as it is all about the scores.

I downloaded it for the XBox One, and it wouldn't even let me play any tables, and only one pack came up for purchase.
