- Laughlin Nevada is a resort town a little less than 100 miles from the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is often referred to as 'Las Vegas in miniature' and offers a relaxed alternative, often much cheaper, yet still offers a first-rate gambling experience. Amongst the casino resorts are:
-The Riverside Resort
-Aquarius
-The Edgewater
-The Colorado Belle (currently closed)
-The Tropicana
-The Golden Nugget
-The Pioneer
-Harrahs
-Laughlin River Lodge
In this video, I try to convince you to try Laughlin, offering 5 great reasons....
The townsite of Laughlin was established in the 1940s as South Pointe because of the proximity to the southern tip of the state of Nevada. The early town consisted of a motel and bar that catered to gold and silver miners, construction workers building Davis Dam, and fishing enthusiasts. In the 1950s, construction workers left, and the town all but disappeared.
In 1964, Don Laughlin, owner of the 101 Club in Las Vegas, flew over the site and saw its tourism potential. He offered to buy the land, and within a few years, the Riverside Resort motel and casino, consisting of only 12 slots and two live tables, was bustling. A second casino, the Bobcat Club, opened in 1967, where the Golden Nugget Laughlin currently operates. In 1968, a third casino, the Monte Carlo, opened its doors. Across the river, Bullhead City, Arizona, sat in the glow of the casino light. Shuttle boats transported customers from the Arizona side of the river to Laughlin's resorts and back. The southernmost tip of Nevada, along the Colorado River, where Nevada, California, and Arizona meet, was a major national tourist destination and gambling resort during the 70's, 80's & 90's.
The 1980s saw the construction of several more hotels and casinos. The Colorado Hotel (now the Pioneer), The Regency, Sam's Town Gold River (now the Laughlin River Lodge), and The Edgewater opened in the early 1980s. Other investors saw the growth as an opportunity to get in on the action. A second boom resulted in the construction of The Colorado Belle, Harrah's Del Rio, and The Ramada Express (now The Tropicana Express). In 1987, Don Laughlin funded and built the Laughlin Bridge at a cost of $3.5 million. He donated the bridge to the states of Nevada and Arizona. The bridge carries 30,000 vehicles daily. In 1988, a megaresort called the Emerald Resort, that would have been the biggest in southern Nevada, was announced but its first tower was left unfinished due to the junk bond market's collapse in 1990. Only the project's golf course opened and it operated from 1991 to 2005. The Flamingo Hilton, now known as The Aquarius, was built in 1990.
Going next April for a 5 day stay. Cant wait. Last time we were there we had the best time ever at a resort/casino!
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! I'm going at the end of the year! I agree - I love Aquarius!
I agree!!!
I like your video. Here are reasons I go. Older, calmer crowd. Not as many drunks as Vegas. No fancy wardrobe required. Decent shows. Clubs of all interests have conventions here. Its just an easier, more relaxed vacation. No sex driven entertainment. No one is trying to shove escort and club cards into your hands.Cheaper gas in Bullhead than Vegas. Good food choices in both cities. Way less crime and homelessness. River view is better than bright lights view. Laughlin Rules.
Thank you for your feedback! I agree - so much more relaxed! I've always loved the place and look forward to every visit. I appreciate your comment. Thank you.
Sometimes it's a lot of 'old' outlaw bikers weekend and if it is it can be intimidating and make family folks nervous.
Bikers are generally pretty personable if you give them a chance. They’re not all gang bangers.
Why Laughlin? TO RELAX!!!
You're so right! We're going in December - got 4 comped nights at Aquarius! Thanks for the comment - sorry it took a while for me to reply!
Love how relax it is!!!
Yes it's a great town.
You've not been there in the middle of summer with the crowds, all the families, kids, drunk teens, dirty unkept boardwalk, buffets are no good, then just across the river is Bullhead AZ the most homeless, stabings, Murders, and crime in the area.
Reasons I like going to the river , taking the boat out and having beers and sitting in the water all day , dock the boat , stroll over to a casino and play some tables. In the winter time you can go off-roading in utv’s or jeeps. Or go shooting. Ect. Lots to do.
I agree - a great place to spend some time! Thanks for the comment - sorry it took a while for me to reply!
5 golf courses withing 25 minutes of the Hotels all very playable, with Laughlin Ranch and Mojave Resort two top notch courses.
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! I'm not really into golf, but I love Laughlin!
Next time take a bit of a drive to the town of Oatman in Arizona as well - where the wild burros walk around the town. Great video!
Thanks for your comment! Oatman is cool! Love Lake Havasu as well!
It should be Why Not Laughlin? I enjoy going to Laughlin when I'm in Vegas. It's a nice town and and more relaxing than Vegas. Although there's a tribal casino not too far from the casino drive call Avi. I recommend everyone that goes to Vegas rent a car and take a day trip to Laughlin. RIP Don Laughlin.
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! I agree - a great place and very relaxed! I'm returning later in the year so will be doing some more content then!
Freaking love bullhead/Laughlin! The river views are to die for and affordable! love it
I visit once a year and look forward each time!
Will do the trip from LV to Laughlin in early Sep!
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! We're going in December - got 4 comped nights at the Aquarius!
Nice video! I love Laughlin and you hit it on the head why. Could have included the golf if that’s your thing.
Maybe next time, but golf isn't really my thing! Thanks for the comment - sorry it took a while for me to reply!
Thanks bro
My pleasure!

Lots of old people...
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! I agree!
It is cheaper than Vegas by at least half, for a room. Not as cheap as it used to be though.

Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying!
A lot of the restaurants in laughlin have long wait times and food is subpar
Every city has good and bad restaurants.....Here in Laughlin we have several outstanding restaurants! I'm not sure which Laughlin restaurants disappointed you, but clearly you missed some gems!
Red hat i dont think so
Maybe you're right!
Bro is talking in 2x play speed
Set your expectations low.
Laughing seems much more appealing now that Vegas has turned into such a shithole
Thanks for your comment!. I like them both but really love Laughlin - really relaxed! Returning in December, so will be doing a VLog!
Everything was cool until you mentioned those red hats,
Just rise above it!
Plus the US government is actually using the name of the continent to its citizens and country. The United States is a country but America is not a country America is a continent of 35 countries in total. We are US citizens and citizens of the United States. The whole entire continent was already named America 269 years ago way before the United States of America became a nation or even existed. Everyone on the American continent is an American likewise Asia are Asians Africa are Africans and Europe are Europeans.
Proud of my red hat
Imagine still being worried about red hats? Your life must be miserable. 😂
I almost fell asleep reading your comment. It's late, it helped, thank you. @@armandoruiz8758
Lot's of kids running around!
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! I think it depends when you visit. My experience is that the age range is on the high side!
Just came back from Laughlin. Nothing special. Entire area is very run down. Hotels feel dated, very smoky inside, restaurants are average at best. Carpet is dirty throughout many areas. Outlet mall next to Tropicana Hotel is very empty inside with more than half stores closed. The one unique hotel called Colorado Belle was shut down during Covid and never reopened. Restaurants have weird hours of operation. Some days open, some days closed. Very limited options. If you don’t have a car you’ll have to use water taxi whisper was pretty cool, $5 one way. Colorado river is nice but cold, max 53 degrees. Pool and hot tub in the Harrah’s hotel was very good. However, if you’re not into gambling, then I would skip this place. If you just want to relax and play games, then maybe you’ll be fine. Having visited Vegas multiple times, I still prefer to go to Vegas over this place.
Final thought… many people here are either locals or those who were chartered in from various parts of the country for $90. This included round trip flight, 4 night stay at Harrah’s, and transfer to and from airport. In other words, if it wasn’t for those chartered flights, this place would be empty. This should tell you something.
I swam often on the harrahs beach, water was cool but we'll over 53.
But yeah I'd agree alot of the casinos there went downhill just like vegas
You're probably right!

Do you think this is some sort of profound and intelligent comment you’re making? Do you think you’re blowing minds with this information? Good lord.
Other then that, Laughlin is a nice place to relax.
Thanks for the comment - sorry it took a while for me to reply!
Hard pass
Laughlin rocks! We love losers lounge at the riverside
Been going there for 40 years!!
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! We like Aquarius! I've got 4 comped nights there in December!
Take care where you stay in Laughlin. Had to stay one night there on my way to grand Canyon NP and did the wrong decision to stay too cheap.
Got a dirty ( I guess never cleaned since Corona started) room that smelled like a dead wet 3 dog.
So take a look what you get.
A lot of Laughlin is dead also... 😋

Thanks for your comment!. I agree - you've got to shop around! I've stayed at Tropicana, Aquarius, Edgewater and (what was then) River Palms. Aquarius is my favourite, and that's where we're staying when we return later in the year.
We are a small town for sure, we have more hotel rooms than people!!!!!! 10,000 hotel rooms and only 8,500 people. But we have a LOT going on!
Not sure what you mean by dead. Lake Mojave with tons of water activities, the river with amazing activities from jet boat cruises to jet skis, day cruises to London bridge, cool hidden beaches all along the river, fishing, off road races, free camping all around, lots of great shows and night life, casinos, bowling alleys, movie theaters, big name concerts, walking and hiking trails, on and on.......................Maybe I just misunderstood your comment. But dead? Clearly you need a tour guide, or a bit of research prior would have helped. And as far as the hotel, which one was it?
Why NOT Laughlin? If that wind is blowing 60+MPH you'll be limited to inside the hotel/casino. No playing on the water.
you must never been there in the summer
@@jodielangford.6401 I owned a house in River Bend for 25 years,
