- In this Bullhead City Arizona travel guide we start out in Phoenix Arizona and drive through Kingman which you saw in our last video, then towards Oatman onto Bullhead City and Laughlin. Making stops along the way in places like Fort Mojave and Lake Mead Recreation Area as well as show you around some of the neighborhoods. Once we arrive in Bullhead City we show you around river and then head down across the river to Laughlin Nevada.
Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. I live in Bullhead the crime is really not bad at all. Me and my family movie here from Howell Michigan a few years ago. Howell is a farming country between Detroit and Lansing Michigan and that area had way more crime. Anyway I love living in Bullhead Arizona it’s a small town with great views and plenty to do. Thanks for posting your video.
OMG! I remember Bullhead when I lived there as a kid and it didnt have any buildings over 2 stories tall!
I remember Havasu when there were less than 500 people living there and the lake was full of dead trees. How these two places have changed.
Among some of your best videos yet JJ. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks, we’ve been to these spots - enjoyed a trip down memory lane 👍
Thanks for sharing. May God bless Arizona!!!
Was transferred out here from the Cleveland, Ohio, airport, and liked it so much after I retired from the Bullhead-Laughlin International Airport I stayed. No snow !!!
Personally, I prefer Laughlin to Las Vegas; much more laid back and less crowded. Also, right on the beautiful Colorado River. Believe there are maybe seven major casino/hotels there, not just the two that are mentioned here. Great little getaway in winter...
Less nickel and diming
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Right now the only folks that know about the "old school cool" place that the Laughlin casino area is. WE do not want all the youngsters showing up and taking over the place right? I'm VERY spoiled by the $50/night room rates and no crowds....
@@steveludwig4200 I am born and raised in Ca. and retired and I have never been to Laughlin, what a shame I want to go, what is a good place to stay, is Mid Week good or better on the weekends.
I saw a In n Out Burger, I'm in.
Always enjoy your videos!
Absolutely loved this video, so fantastic
I love Oatman i love the wild winding road and ther gorgeous scenery
Never been there but this video caused me to plan for next year there.
Live in Mohave Valley since 2003 from CA. Love the atmosphere, less stress than Phoenix area, and area is indeed growing. Oatman is easily accessible from I-95 and a fun place with western shows and the occasional real western wedding in the streets!! Right now the heat is average 115 but you do get used to it after a few years. Love this channel as am learning about the other areas of my adopted state. Planning road trips on some of the areas you've featured!
I-95 is on the east coast.
I’ve been there when it was almost 120 degrees, but it wasn’t as bad as 80 degrees in Chattanooga. The humidity makes a world of difference
My mom and step dad live in bullhead.. been there now for 21 years... and Oatman is a super cool little town to go to..I love it there in bullhead!
I like Cool Springs during Bike Week. Oatman too.
The lake shown is this video is Lake Mohave and the dam is Davis Dam. Both are downstream from Lake Mead and Hoover Dam about half way between Lake Mead and Lake Havasu. Lake Mohave is part of the "Lake Mead National Recreation Area" and is federally owned. You missed the "better side of town" up on the Bullhead Parkway which is where the higher priced homes and neighborhoods are.
Oatman is so cute! Wish they'd put a little Inn or Airbnb out there.
Wow what a great full day trip ! Thanks for the info will have to check it out next time in Az. !
Thanks Jeff!
Excellent report 😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸
Great informative video! Thank you!!!
Half of California is here in Arizona now.. yay
I have been to Oatman and it is fun.and very much worth it
Oatman is one of my favorite places in Arizona, its got that small western mining town vibe and the donkeys are cute.
My grandpa was the supervisor at the powerhouse or power plant and my grandma ran the phone company when it had a switch board. They lived on Front St., now Topeka. My grandparents along with my mom, auntie and uncle would take their model A or whatever it was to Oatman…. My grandma’s sister and her husband were miners in Oatman. They would work the claims and go back to Kingman.
By the way, Lake Mead has come up a lot lately . You’re at Lake Mohave. I’ve been on Lake Mohave a lot, we had a boat. But you’re showing Lake Mohave.
love bullhead city. its growing and the projects around there to revamp the town is profound! can't beat the river and mountains views!
Is it bad on crime? Lots of ghetto looking places downtown or in the City as a whole?
@@crerar01 there's not really a downtown there's just one road which is the 95. It's not bad. But if u live in a community housing is nice
You keep saying "Lake Mead & Boulder Dam", but you were showing "Lake Mohave" which is created by the Davis Dam and south of the Boulder Dam by about 75 miles. You didn't show any of Northern Bullhead City (which is the newer section of the city), nor Katherine's Landing in the National Park. Good video, but a little out of date. You haven't been able to buy a house here for less than $450k in years, especially close to the river.
Exactly. That’s what happens when you aren’t really from the area. Do your homework next time. Frustrating when he keeps calling it Lake Mead.
Accurate
There are LOTS of nice homes for sale in the 200 - $400K range in BHC and Laughlin, as well as Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, and Needles. If you want a built-in pool, that will add about 50 - $100K to the cost, but pools require a lot of time and effort to maintain and may not be necessary with the Colorado River and Lake Mohave so close by.
True lol
In fairness to the creator of the vid..Lake Mohave is part of the Lake Mead national recreation area...So he isn't talking out of his ass...He's just generalizing and not being specific to the area by name.
Great Video 👍👍
The drive to Oatman on 66 in the spring is WORTH it. Millions of flowers blooming along the mountain road. We pulled over to take pictures about a dozen times on our way up there..
Last year it sure was.
Dropping more content again let’s go!
We visited Oatman a couple of times. Fun and informative talking with the locals. Interesting to note that no one should feed the burros. The only food they should be given is the feed that is available in a couple of the shops. Their digestive systems can not process sugars. Feeding them apples, carrots etc will cause them to form tumors. 😢We were pointed out a few who had formed tumors on their necks because of this. They are a protected animal. Fines can be expensive. Also there’s road signs throughout Bullhead City to watch for burros especially along Bullhead Parkway. The burros come down out of the desert and are known to walk across the roads sometimes stopping in the middle of it. This past January someone hit one on Bullhead Parkway in the middle of the night. Killed the burro and it totaled the drivers car. Take care when visiting and driving in Bullhead City. Love our burros ❤
Lake Mohave and Davis Dam
Great videos , very informative. Thank You.😊❤
Nice
Nice video. My wife and I have been there a few times, and we love it there.
Awesome review of this part of Arizona. I stayed in Laughlin once during college when the Flamingo Hotel opened. It must have changed names since then. Small town and it felt a bit isolated from the rest of the world for sure.
I've visit several times and enjoyed it - but one word comes to mind ---HOT.
Great place to visit during the winter if you want to get away from the city hustle and bustle, much relaxed pace.
But you have high winds
@@adynathaly3145 those winds are nothing compared to Wyoming.
@@Hschlick84 yeah but in Wyoming you get tornadoes, believe me I lived in bullhead City those wings are way above average. I never said those wins were the strongest in the world no. But it's definitely something to inform the people. It's very important because their insurance I had one of my roofing tiles blown off a couple
Some good housing deals, which for me is a older mh on it's *own* lot. Looks like every spot along the river is stack packed full of housing, which developers will continue until💧is sucked dry.
Loving the video
I liked bullhead when I went through a few years ago.
Kingman Arizona Roadtrip "Heart of Historic Route 66"

Don’t forget Lake Havasu City!!
I really miss Arizona
That's Lake Mojave, not Lake Mead. Dam is Davis Dam. Great video.
GOOD PICS of the place- been going there since the 90's -The suburb of Laughlin is ver y modern above the casino blvd a few miles away. The modern Bullhead City is south of the old part you showed ( most of that has been torn down ) There is a new bridge being built to link Nevada and winters are very comfortable for Canadians like me to snowbird.
There is even a VA medical office in Laughlin. Not bad for a small town. The 2nd public bridge at the opposite end of Bullhead Parkway from the original bridge is now open as of yesterday.
That was Lake Mojave down stream from Lake Mead. Great video, but there are hundreds of miles of off-road trails also out there that lead to some neat mines that people could enjoy in the winter time.
Thank you.
I would love to see a good one on Wickenburg. Looking to move there soon. Love your channel.
We entered Oatman with my wife coming back from Sedona, we were told to take this route and we would not be disappointed, they never said why and BOY WHERE WE.
Every year last week of April, the Laughlin River run this year will be 13 years that I’ve been coming to the rally. My favorite part is Oatman Arizona and the reason why it’s my favorite is because of the donkeys I live in Lemoore, California Central Valley and we stay at Davis Camp on the Arizona side we stay up on top where on the corner from the straight ahead from the little shack that you pay To camp $40.05 days not bad we can’t right on the corner where the two big palm trees are and then you walk down the hill that goes down to the river. We stayed down there one time and that was my first trip to the rally.
Hoover Dam was one of three projects that were built during the great depression of the 30's. The dam, The Empire State Building in New York and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Franscisco. All three came in under schedule and under budget. Likely the last three projects to proudly proclaim that record.
If you come out to Oatman please do not stop in the middle of the road and feed the burros from your car. They get to trust worthy of vehicles then get hit. Also watch your speed. Feeding tbe burros on the road is actually illegal in Oatman. You can get little alfalfa cubex to feed them in town in most of the stores. Do not feed them carrots and do not feed the babies. We live in Bullhead and go to Oatman when we have guest visting us. It's a cute little town.
Oatman was selling carrots to give to the donkeys for years. What's changed?
I would rather feed the javelina out my backdoor. My neighbors and I have a squadron living in our area. The babies are so cute.
@@IEchuckieI think that was explained………road kill👀🇺🇸
The riverside hotel casino also has 2 swimming pools one upstairs and 1 downstairs that overlooks the river. It also has a stage in a private bar. One is just for adults and the other pool is for the kids.
Just to clear things up, the dam he showed was not Hoover dam but Davis Dam. The thumbnail is not of Bullhead city but of Laughlin Nevada.
To me, If you have to live in the heat, Bullhead/Laughlin is the best area. The river is refreshing, water sports, fishing, gambling, night entertainment, four wheeling, prospecting…it’s all there. Old Bullhead is the #1 investment opportunity also, especially next to Community Park between 1st and 2nd streets. It’s already zoned commercial, and the jet ski businesses are looking to corner that area for there business near the brand new commercial boat dock. They keep buying more.
It will 115 in summer but the water is freezing because of the release from the dam is the cold deep water from the bottom of the lake.
I haven’t been up in the lake mead area in a long time, the last time I was there was back in January 2016 and we canoed down the Colorado river starting from the Hoover Dam and ending at Willow Beach. Alongside the river, we would stop 2 times on two remote beaches and camped for a day. Hot springs were also along the river which was also pretty cool. I would highly recommend doing this during the milder months as it was a pretty fun trip during that time as it wasn’t too hot or too cold.
That Canyon is like a stove in the summer.
If hot springs are cool, then how could they be hot?
The Oatman hotel was used in the filming of the epic movie; "HOW THE WEST WAS WON". Back then it had an open balcony and those arches didn't exist.
Oatman!
Hotter than S###
Why do the burro's love carrots??
They must be good
Oatman makes a great day trip out of Vegas. Stop by the Dolan Springs Gas Station for awesome hamburgers!
Wow! I even noticed that there is a really large body of water called Mohave Lake near Laughlin/Bullhead City that seems like it is usually kept at full pool. Maybe I shouldn't mention it because it will get crowded with boats too.
7:21 I have seen in Palm Springs that people are building sold patio covers over there Mobile Homes cutting down on the radiant heat making the homes much more comfortable.
I been there several times
talking about hot hot hot there in the summer.
First saw Oatman at RiverRun april 1994
7000-8000 motorcycles as far as u could see..the RiverRun grew to 81,000 motorcycles the year of the Laughlin Shootout..3dead 200 battered and arrested
Ended about 2018 with maybe 5000 motorcycles in attendance..
Curfews and over policing security costs made it unaffordable to vendors and casinos
I was in the Harrahs casino the day that happened a few hours before.
Same here, but it wasn't the 90's ? or has it been that long!? The Harahs shootout was in 2000ish?
April 2002..mongols at our hotel stay Harrahs
Saturday nite getting off river ferryboat 60 wearing mongol logos in casinobar... 1 lonely hellA peering thru hotel lobby door...lockdown tell 10am..no bike tell 4pm
Laughlin has a nice small community u need to pass all the casinos and go straight south on that road about 10 miles u will see it open up into home waterpark library and all.
You were showing Lake Mohave not Lake Mead. The Hoover Dam separates Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. The Hoover Dam is at the far North end of Lake Mohave. FYI
Talks about lake mead& hoover dam .. while showing lake mojave & davis dam. ?
Not to many people know that Laughlin has an International Airport.
The residential communities are interesting layout of streets. Looks like they through spaghetti on the wall and made the streets .
Threw.
Try more like 130 degrees in mid summer.
The Laughlin Bullhead area is a fun spot to go to, as there are good cheap vibes, and laughlin ranch is an exclusive master plan on the hill in Bullhead, gated and restaurants and homes from 350k to 2 million or more, and it's close to ca and vegas, but bullhead is very limited in services and all, and Laughlin is too. and it has gone up in my thoughts, way to high for even that area, 250-325 for a decent home in Laughlin ranch, a 3/2 1600 sf etc, but now 395 to 450k, not thx as its 112-118 for 3-4 months in the summer, winters are nice, but ya, so its got its bad and good like anywhere, but living there id prefer the Laughlin side still if nay side of the river, thanks
😃👍
Great video! I couldn't find an airline who flies in to Laughlin or Bullhead even though there is an airport there. I live in Calif and couldn't find any flights that go there :(
Just fly into Vegas and rent a car and drive to BHC - Laughlin. Only a 90-minute drive through the beautiful desert.
0:51- Is Raw Rock Creations located on Old Route 66 between the exit at I-40 and Cool Springs? Looks like a great place..
👍😅
Sorry but you are showing Davis Dam/Lake Mohave not Hoover Dam/Lake Mead. Lake Mead is 70 miles further up stream.
Ithink that is Lake MoHave not Lake Mead. It is the Lake Mead National Recreation area but the water, the Lake is Lake Mohave not lake Mead. The Dam is Davis Dam and it forms Lake Mohave.
Either burrows are biting off each others ears or some a-holes are doing that - one burrow had it’s neck cut … makes you wonder.
To many Californians!
What was favorite casino in Nevada to play at....
Thanks for forgetting the REGENCY CASINO
U mean the Palm Rivers?? And 5 or 6 other names in 30yrs
have you done one for PARKER ??
I lived in Bullhead for 10 years. Too bad Laughlin never pd. More than 6.00 an hour even in the late 80s that was chump change!!😢
Are you getting crazy thunderstorms ⛈️ out there now?
No not much of a monsoon yet this year in Western AZ. Hopefully soon!
Monsoons come through mid Aug. to Mid Sept... none yet as of 8-11
Did lake mohave change its name , lol thats not lake mead
does Laughlin have any trailer parks?
I do know Bullhead does, right across the street from the million dollar homes that line the river. Check out Riverfront Dr. in Bullhead.
@@Expressionistix Thank You Very Much.
Yes, but some people say Bullhead is unofficially the biggest trailer park in the world. There are a ton of them in the Riviera part of town which is a little weird because most of the big fancy homes are up off of the parkway with most of the mobile homes down near the water. Most cities near waterways have their larger, more expensive homes on the water. Bullhead is kind of backwards. Lake Havasu City is kind of backwards as well. There's very little waterfront residences and most of the business and industrial property is closer to the water than the residential areas. I guess the planners' brains were cooked by the sun when they set up zoning.🥵
There were lots. Now they buy them, demo out, and build new houses or some nice modulars. Anything up for sale sells in days. Gentrification and californians have taken over.
Way to windy always
Not mules sir, Burros
Nice to visit, but difficult to make a viable financial living.
You can make very good money working in a casino.
Please share with me what "very good money"? Thank you @@R32R38
What is very good money? Thank you @@R32R38
It might be worthwhile to go back and re-edited to make corrections to an otherwise good video on an undercovered subject.
What would anyone want to live in this SH state?
You said Laughlin really doesn't have a residential community. Well, you're not being accurate. I live in Laughlin with 9,000 other RESIDENTS. We're three miles west of the river.
Anjrit orang sono gosok batu akik juga? 😂😂
Dude! Lots of great content, but also a lot of misinformation.
Lake Mohave above the “Davis Dam” is part of the Lake Mead National Recreation area.
You can't really complain about the heat in Bullhead if you are coming from Phoenix - it's the same except at least there's a river here.
Oatman, not rv friendly, no parking and the rutted road out there also sucks
When you talk about crime it's no where as bad as it is in Phoenix. You might have some drug and alcohol abuse but murder, rape, and theft are not common in Bullhead.
Correct, except theft. Plenty of that out here.
But I would agree, it's a safe place to live, unless you're a Democrat 😂, jkjk
@@johnturner7774I am a Democrat and I am planning to move to BHC in a couple of years. Now that Arizona has a Democratic governor, I feel it is becoming a little more diverse politically.
@@trwentthat Democrat Governor stole the election. Lake won the election by a large margin.
