Laughlin was a town largely formed in the 1960's to be a casino resort. Today it has 10,000 hotel rooms spread across 10 properties, but it hasn't changed very much since I visited as a kid. One of the huge draws of #Laughlin is the #Colorado #River where thousands of people rent jet skis and boats to enjoy the Summer temps. It's only 90 minutes from the #Vegas #Strip, so is it worth visiting? It's definitely worth watching this video!
This is part 1 of our Laughlin Casino tour and it includes a look at Edgewater, Colorado Belle (closed indefinitely), Pioneer Gambling Hall, Golden Nugget Laughlin and the Laughlin River Lodge. We also jump out on the water for a bit to see what it looks like + we look at the river, the pools, the beaches and even a closed casino! It was brutally hot, but I think you'll enjoy this look at Las Vegas' little brother on the river. Have you ever been to Laughlin? What do you like and not like about it? Let me know in the comments!

In 1985 I remember The Regency Casino. An old casino with the best slots and great cheap food. I turned my mom and dad on to Laughlin. They would drive down from Washington to stay for a month at a time. They did this in the fall and spring. Some nights they paid $12 for a nice hotel room. Weekends went up to $35. Omg. They are both in heaven now. I'm happy they enjoyed Laughlin.
Stayed in Laughlin about 20 times. Never won. Most of the time we would stay just 1 night to get an early start to Vegas in the morning. The best Reuben Sandwich can be found at the diner in the Tropicana across from Colorado Belle. And the best T-bone is at Saltgrass inside the Golden Nugget. Also the Saltgrass has the best fried mushrooms.
When you gas up make sure you drive across the bridge into Bullhead city. The gas is way cheaper over there in Arizona.
I can definitely second this for gas! Thankfully my Tesla doesn't need it, but I've done some business in Bullhead and the prices are way cheaper than Vegas. Sometimes by $.60-$.75. I've never eaten at Saltgrass. I just looked and that location is in the only in the West. Thanks for the recommendations!
Bill Peterson Vegas is just another hour away, why would you even stop in Laughlin for a night?
@@assmonkeyification about hour and a half, 2 hours actually. But I'm sure they were tired.
Thank you for profiling my home town. I was born and raised in Laughlin my Dad worked at the co-gen power plant until it closed. Most people working in Laughlin live on the other side of the river in BHC but we stayed in Laughlin. I have so many good memories as a kid. There isn’t much for kids to do. There is not a square inch of Laughlin that my skateboard hasn’t touched. There isn’t a hotel swimming pool that I haven’t swam in. We used to pool hop from hotel to hotel all summer until security would toss us. I think my best memory as a little kid was saving little milk cartons. We would cut doors and windows into the side to make houses for lizards. We put them in the desert to make a little neighborhood for lizards. We actually believed they moved into them.
Have been visiting there since I was 7 with my grand parents and still going to this date with my grand children
Love the grandma out and enjoying playing craps 🙂
She was great!
You love gramma out there playing craps because she lives there and is addicted to gambling. Super cute!
Kim Kaye Do you know her? If not why do you pass judgment or pretend to know that? Problem gambling is a serious issue, but someone rolling the dice doesn’t mean they have a problem.
I stayed in Laughlin many years ago on a bus tour with my family and always wanted to return because of the beautiful river. The image of casinos on the river was forever etched in my mind. I returned last year with two French girls on a road trip from San Diego, but we never got to explore the area nor the themed casinos. We just drove for endless miles elsewhere to go hiking. Laughlin was supposed to be a gateway to the glam and glitter of Las Vegas, and to one of the girls' hearts. I barely survived Laughlin. Who'd have guessed this setting full of possibility would be where hope and ideals die? Still in disbelief as I recall these tragic memories. I await your video of Harrah's Laughlin. Thanks for sharing.
Haha great story! Thanks for watching!
probably good idea to dump those french girls fast
Spent many weekends in Laughlin. Jet Ski all day party most of the night, Jet Ski with a hangover the next day... Good times.
Sounds like an amazing time!
@Martin Aguilar Laughlin today is not as busy on the river as it was in the late 80's - early 90's when Jet-Skis were much more popular. I know of at least 25 friends that had accidents on the river resulting in broken bones or broken hulls. The worst thing i ever had happen was having a $3500 racing ski engine blow about 15 mins into the weekend. If I recall there was a collision between a water taxi and a jet boat in the early 90's that resulted in fatalities. There was also no boating safety officers on the river back then.
Needless to say operating a watercraft on that stretch of the Colorado river demanded 100% focus and respect.
I love Laughlin. A hillbilly Vegas? No. A kicked back, laid back, river laden, beautiful topography…I’ll digress. Thanks!!
I live in Laughlin - There are only two bad things about living here: the summer heat and the tourists. Visitors to our area always feel entitled to tell anyone who'll listen why Laughlin is either the greatest hidden gem ever (it's not) or a wannabe Vegas failure (it's not). It looks completely different, good and bad, when this is your home and not somewhere you sleep before going home.
Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Tourists are literally the only reason Laughlin exists. It’s a dump and always will be. The people that live there are old, grumpy, and nuttier than squirrel turds.
wow you are one pretentious tweeker.
@@2cautious There goes the neighborhood. Nothing like a bunch of self-obsessed, nouveau riche, everybody-gets-a-trophy children to improve the living environment in a town.
great video-weve been to laughlin many times, stayed at colorado belle, golden nuggett, harrahs and don laughlins riverside.so many memories, we meet some wonderful people there.
Great vids. Appreciate the footage in that heat! Have never seen so many nice shots of Laughlin in one vid!
Thanks John! Look at for the next part because I think it’s even better. It’s was brutally hot for sure. 😂
Absolutely LOVE your videos. They're very clean and crisp , show everything I want to see and lingers the perfect amount of time to grasp what needs to be seen. Also love the narration and trivia. You truly put me there in my favorite places EXACTLY how I would like to feel when seeing these places/imagining I'm there. Thank you and hope you continue with this great content (especially from different casinos & locations. While I love Vegas the most, I also love to see Laughlin and other similar casino resort towns.)
Thanks Steve! I definitely plan to keep going and I’m so glad you’re loving the videos!
I agree, awesome video quality and content! Hope this creator keeps his formula 👍
Well done!!
I loved this video! Laughlin will forever hold a place in my heart, got married on the banks of the river on the other side at Davis Camp park in 93 and have been going back sporadically ever since. Last time we went was 4th of July 2016, it was 123 that week and thar was the end of 4th of July trips to Laughlin haha. So sad about the Belle, but WOW.. the Laughlin River Lodge has really changed for the wayyy better!! Now I want see it! Great video, thanks!
Thanks Grace! I think the Laughlin River Lodge definitely was a pleasant surprise. It's strange, but the company that bought it clearly put a decent amount into renovations and it's a nice place. I still can't believe how cheap it sold for!
Man I respect it. Glad there’s someone else my age that appreciates Laughlin
Great video as always congrats on over 2000 subs! Your channel is quickly growing!
Thanks! It has been growing. It’s amazing! Thanks for continuing to watch!
I have actually wanted to visit laughlin ever since i saw Matt Bridgers video he did there a few years back. I have been going to Vegas multiple times a year since 07 and had no idea this place existed till a few years back. I always thought it would be cool to spend the day playing on the river and the night gambling.
I think it’s definitely worth a quick trip out if you’re in Vegas so often.
Nice video.
Good luck out there- had a few jackpots out there. Always loved gambling at Tropicana.
I hope it reopens on time!
I love those colorful gambling chairs. Great video, thanks for the walk-through dude! Please do some more 😉
Thanks Brittany! Tons more videos like this on the channel and I do have a lot more new stuff coming too!
Love my mini vacations in Laughlin. Actually going there on the 18th for two free nights at the Edgewater thanks to playing at Arizona Charlies on Decatur. Yes it is VERY hot there in the summer, but a lot of fun.
Have a great time James!
Don't forget the golden nugget in lake charles, Louisiana! It's new and absolutely gorgeous!
It looks great! I’ll have to get down there some time. Just finally got to Biloxi for the first time earlier this year.
Enjoyed the video. I only went years ago on a day trip from Vegas via a stop at Hoover Dam. It was 120 degrees and I thought what have I done!!!
Haha yeah I got lucky with 114 out there. By the afternoon it felt like my skin was burning instantly. It always feels so much hotter to me than Vegas.
Good video, I have been visiting Laughlin since 1982, I have seen it grow from a few casinos. The powers that could have really made Laughlin great. They really needed to put in a great boardwalk but for some reason they never did? Still a great little gambling town. A few business partners and I almost pulled the trigger and purchased a casinos, the old Armada. Keep up the videos, they bring back some great memories for sure. Take care Hawk out!!
Yeah a boardwalk is a great idea
Stopped here at the Golden Nugget, on our way to the Grand Canyon. Ate a Joe's crab shack, lovely place.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Relocating from Florida to Vegas area was glad to see some water that I could hang out and relax in like the beach
Love both Aquarius and Laughlin River Lodge. But while I like the bowling alley , I do miss the pirate ship hanging over.
My lady and I were just in Laughlin back in July for a quick over night. Great place to stop if you are driving between Phoenix and Las Vegas
Stayed at the "Edge" many times. It's kinda in the middle of it all. And nice employees. Good comps too. Great vid.
The Laughlin River Lodge is the only place we stay. The general store is the gem in Laughlin and the restaurant downstairs is great. Live in Vegas but go to Laughlin for a getaway every few months.
I definitely thought it was a cool place! Apparently I missed one of the casinos so I have to go back eventually to check it out again!
I have been here twice and it was 2 fun !!! Best time ever .
Cool vlog...planned to go there this summer...but had to cancel my LV trip due to Covid...will come back after the craziness has settled...
Hope you can rebook your trip soon! Thanks Alexander!
I’m here now 12/30/22 your video gives the town justice great video I really like this place look forward to coming during summer . Mini Vegas with a beautiful river and a lot of casinos and things to do
Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching! Summer is beautiful out there, but oh so hot.
We lived in vegas bacj during the early and mid 90s. I always wanted to go to Laughlin but just never found the time. Thank you for sharing this video.. I loved PT's pub when we were in Vegas up Nellis Blvd.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Well-done! It has been more than 20 years since I've been to Laughlin, but it hasn't changed too much -- except the Colorado Belle is closed!
Hopefully the Belle will reopen, but I agree it hasn't changed much at all.
I Love your Videos so much as I miss Vegas and Casinos ! But I am flashed by Laughlin and would rather go there next time possible.
For your upcoming Videos: can you please take a closer Look to the Blackjack Tables or Just Walk by slower so that I can Check the Rules offered ;) thank you very much and keep an filming casinos!
Thanks! I am going to try to make a point of getting more info on the table games when I do these reviews.
Great video one of my favorite places hopefully we can make the trip as soon as we reach heard immunity
Darn was Hoping to see whats up at Harrah's!! Will be watching Next Week for SURE!!!!
Don't bother the best hotel is the acuarius hotel.
Place sucks. I just got back from there. Filthy hotel and tight slots.
@@drasticX9 Always demand a room in the Central Tower!! It is SO Peaceful unlike Vegas, However we are retired and do not like all the Drunks and Noise so avoid the crowded Casinos!!
@@KenoBabe777 Haha. Actually South tower was the one with the 'new' rooms . It was pretty quiet but still filthy 😨
@@drasticX9 That is because the South tower is where they put all the Families with the Tons of kids!!! hahaha!!! Central Tower is older but quiet, clean and nice! It has a lot of Suites in the Central Tower.
I sure hell miss Laughlin. I use to work and live in the casinos and you'd be surprise how many awesome memories you accumulate there
I can imagine there is a lot of fun to be had!
@@Milestomemories yeah if you enjoy being abused by your boss, being paid less than you deserve, and them acting as if you are worthless. Yeah lots of fun to be had, you ever actually look into these places or just drive through while spouting nonsense?
I'm Misa's old Boss. I wasn't that bad.
@@kevingamblesonlife9999 from where? 😂
@@Tulseoh Misa i was just kidding. I did work in Laughlin for 3 years.
Great video my friend,,,, we've been going to Laughlin with our kids know they grown up since 2008,,,, it's a nice getaway,,, with a slow pace unlike Vegas... Keep up the good work 💪👍👌
Glad you enjoyed it! It definitely has a much slower pace, unless you are out on a jet ski.
Our Favorite place! Have been hoping to see whats going on there right now! Thanks!
Thanks. Really enjoyed your tour of Laughlin. Only been there once. Visited Bull Head City across the river.
Bullhead City funny enough is pretty normal which I always find funny. This relatively big size city/town with towering casinos across the water.
Miles to Memories I think the day we went there it was nearly 120 degrees. We visited relatives there, bought soon cheap gas in Az, and went back to Vegas.
Awesome video! Love this video.
Thanks Mike!
It's a beautiful place. I love the water taxi. It's such a fun, inexpensive thing to do. So many great date restaurants!
Laughlin seems to be a place that people either love or hate. I do like it a lot but not in July. 😂
That bar on the river in Pioneer is my favorite spot in Laughlin. Good video poker bonuses too.
Looked like an awesome spot to sit and play.
love going there we go twice a year and really enjoy the slower paced feel of the area and everyone that works there is very nice its a nice break from our trips to vegas it always feels like more of a restful time
Yeah I can definitely see that. The pace is much slower for sure. Thanks for watching Daniel!
Great video...never seen Laughlin. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to part two😁
Thanks Dee!
It's basically just late 50's early 60's Vegas with a river and minus the glitz of that era.
Lol. Grandma hitting the 🎲. 😆
Great isn’t it? 😀
@@Milestomemories Miss the Craps table!
That bowling Alley is gorgeous!
Agreed! So unique.
I love Laughlin it's way better than Vegas and I'm 49 years old I'm not an old person old people know better where to gamble at in Vegas is too expensive
Thanks for the tour of Laughlin, we have room at the River lodge this October and where wondering what the scene was.. looks like it’s still goin good. 👍🏼
Enjoy River Losge! It’s an interesting place. Have a good trip!
No one is eating outside on the bubba gump patio because it's hotter than heck. I'll give you props for walking that much in the heat. Sheesh!
Haha it was hot! Bubba Gumps was closed, but no doubt that patio was probably a bit too hot for a comfortable meal. I'm sure it's very popular at night though.
Bullhead is still the cheapest place to buy a home. Old Bullhead across the river from the casinos is dirt cheap. Commercial land, $26,000 buys a 50x100 square foot commercial lot with a view of the casinos on the Arizona side in Old Bullhead City, AZ. Unbelievable. And jet ski businesses are looking for room to expand.
Bullhead/Fort Mohave has grown so much. Still not my choice of a place to live, but no doubt there are flourishing communities over there.
It’s actually changing for the better, but still can’t believe how cheap commercial land directly across the river in Old Bullhead, AZ. is.
I did this trip to Laughlin, loved that river
It's really beautiful!
We enjoy your videos, we've visited Vegas and Laughlin many times, but the last time was 2007!!! What happened to Colorado Belle? Out of business? We stayed there several times, Pioneer and Golden Nugget and Ramada Express.
Thanks for watching! Colorado Belle closed when all of the casinos closed back in March due to Covid. The owners have said it is now closed indefinitely. Hopefully things will pick up and they’ll choose to reopen it again.
The river is a great place to take the jet skis out! If you’ve never done it they have rentals. highly recommend
Like it better out there than Lake Mead?
Miles to Memories yes I do. I like the cooler water and the casinos close by
Brings back some good memories. Used to have all sorts of fun in Laughlin, especially at Losers Lounge in the Riverside hotel, yikes those were the days.
Losers Lounge is a cool place. I have some shots of it in the second part. Closed of course but it looks like a neat place to spent the evening!
Awesome. I’ll keep my eye out for that video.
@@Milestomemories Thur nights!!!
I have to chk on golden nugget ,river lodge and edgewater soon.ived been to the rest ,mostly in riverside.so now I know that its allowed to take vedios on casino.i do it nxt time.
We got married on that river at the river boat that docks the Aquarius
Sounds like an awesome way to get married!
Terrific tour! Which hotel there is best known for Poker, specifically Texas Hold-em?
I live in AZ. Learned how to play Texas Holdem in Laughlin in the early 1990's. Kinda sad what it is now compared to it's hey day.
There’s probably nothing wrong with it, u just got old.
That HUGE Golden Nugget was there on display in Laughlin for years.
Hey Curtis! I have since learned it is in the reception area and I somehow missed it. So it's still there!
I went to Laughlin in early Sept. Was so sad that I couldn't visit the Shooters Bar in the Colorado Belle. My favorite video poker machine and a bloody mary was so missed. :(
So sad about Colorado Belle. Definitely the most interesting building on the river!
Loved this video! Hope you'll do one on Tonopah too.
Wow I haven't been to Tonopah in many years. We'll see!
If it wasn't mentioned by now - they have a display "Hand of Faith" real gold nugget/large! display was in the hotel guest registration lobby, which was down corridor away from atrium off to the right, heading towards self-parking garage. You would have also passed a gift shop, and slot tournament area...maybe next time? At Christmas time, very festive. You should come back to all the Laughlin casinos at Christmastime, I think a majority of them hire the same holiday window painter, who adds festive painted designs on most of the main walkway windows on a majority of the Laughlin hotels..Thanks for the video!
I never had even considered this but I will now! Thanks.
That’s great. Thanks for watching Bob!
😭We truly missed this year routine, River Run, it's such an exciting motorcycle event🤗
Hopefully things can return to normal for next year.
@@Milestomemories I also got my daughter hooked
Hi Shawn. Thanks for the video. Wife and I enjoy Laughlin once or twice a month. You are spot on with your analysis however the River Lodge has another theme casino called Bourbon Street. Kind of a mix of a Casino and an adult arcade. We enjoy the Riverside, Aquarius and River Lodge the most and the Edgewater once in a while. The Tropicana's customer service is terrible. Speaking of heat, earlier this week the day time temperature reached 120.
Yeah I got lucky that it was only 114 when I was filming. 😂 Thanks for letting me know about Bourbon Street. I missed it but I’ll have to check it out next time I’m out there.
I was there in august few years back. 120 degrees then too.
been to laughlin many times. stayed at the edgewater had a riverview room...
I hope you are able to return soon!
Sure hope the Colorado belle will open again. It was my favorite hotel/casino.
Me too! If it does I’ll have to get back down to check it out. It was always my favorite when I was a kid just because of the novelty of it looking like a boat.
One correction on the Golden Nugget. It was, as this video says, called The Nevada Club before it was the Nugget. However, when it was first built and opened in 1967, it was called The Bobcat. You can verify this from most History of Laughlin sites online.
Thanks for the info!
I remember going to Laughlin as a kid as a side trip from Las Vegas. Not too bad of a drive. Can make it back to Vegas in about an hour and a half. Hopefully Laughlin will bounce back soon. Sad to see the Colorado Belle shut down.
Been watching your vids for hours.Awesome . A question..where is everyone? Why is all closed? Dont understand.
Masks are required in Nevada and some people don't like that. Others are comfortable traveling. Basically all due to Covid.
Great show thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Shawn, very nice walking tour! I really miss some great times I had at the Colorado Belle w friends back in my twenties! Sad to see it closed right now 😕
Smooth video, do you use a gimbal when shooting your walking videos?
Thanks! Yes I use a DJI Osmo Mobile 3 Gimbal.
@@Milestomemories Nice! I just bought that one and messed around with it today for the first time! Seems fairly easy to use. Now I just need to get used to it and check out some of the bells and whistles it has!
Are you allowed to Film there? Do you ask someone before ?
Which camera and Gimbal do you use? Really good smooth filming.
For this I used an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a DJI Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal. I don't ask permission since I am only filming my own POV.
We go to Lake Mohave. Its so much fun!!!!!!
That's GREAT GRANNY to you sonny!
😂
Hi, great video. Are the buffets open ?
No unfortunately they are not open as of now.
There is a Gold Nugget. It is by the hotel guest rooms
Thanks! I missed it, but will check it out next time.
Really enjoyed the scenic view and tour 😉
Glad you enjoyed it!
caesars keeps giving me free flights to that place lol
I hear that from a lot of people! I will say Harrah's was probably the busiest of the casinos and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
I get that offer all the time.
I just got back from there two weeks ago. Went on the Caesars package they emailed me. Round trip Flight to Laughlin. 4 nights at Harrah’s. Had a good time despite COVID restrictions. Cost me $35 total. Wound up only losing $1 lol. The people working at the casinos were very nice and helpful. I was going to rent a jet ski but after watching the people on the water for awhile I decided it wasn’t worth the risk. The water taxi pilots were very cool and had great advice on where to eat and what to do with what little is allowed right now. The river is beautifully done Harrah’s beach was nice.
Nice video..........have one correction. There is a "golden nugget" there in the Golden Nugget casino/hotel........and always has been. It is located in the entrance to the hotel lobby........on the left side as you enter.
Thanks for the info! I am planning on getting back there soon. You aren't the only one who pointed me to it. I'll make sure to capture it next time.
The big nugget of gold at the Golden Nugget is located over by the hotel check in desk, which you skipped
Yup I’ll have to get over there next time.
tried walking to explore other places from harrahs it was a no go LOL. Straight up hill trying to leave harrahs. Maybe its easier walking in from the other side but then you would need a ride to leave!
Haha it wasn't fun! At the beginning of part 2 I had quite the adventure climbing that hill and then getting back down to Harrah's. Definitely better to drive or take the water taxi!
The Edgewater entrance looks like the Aztec Inn.
Haha wow you nailed it! I have always known it looked familiar and I couldn't place it but you got it!
@@Milestomemories Funny that! I'm not even a Vegas local!!! I live in the UK!!! 😂😂
But I really do like your channel. It really does remind of Retail Archaeology, as I mentioned before.
I came across your channel randomly. Someone else's Vegas channel came up, looked at their video, then saw one of your videos, and I was like, this is pretty good!
A little suggestion, perhaps put the name of the song in the video, and the casino name/area when you arrive. :) IDK, that's just me - your channel. :)
Looking forward for part 2 👍
Thanks for watching Sandra!
Uggh! Was there once in 1998, hated it...Doesn’t look any different!
Haha definitely not much has changed!
I was there 2 days ago!!! Thats my happy spot
I CAN SMOKE INSIDE THE CASINOS???
I heard Laughlin its better than Las Vegas
The golden nugget is over by check in
Thanks Linda!
Edgewater casino rooms smell like wet towels. I love Aquarius its awesome and have lots of fun slots
iirc the golden nugget is on display by the check-in lobby
Thanks! Yeah I totally missed it! Guess I’ll have to go back.
Stayed at the Colorado Belle last year and the room definitely needed a good dusting /cleaning, even the sheets were gross on one of the beds 🤢
Yikes! 🤮
Actually theirs a total of 5 different casinos inside the Laughlin River Lodge. Main casino floor which is called Points, Dottys, Lavillita, Red Dragon, and the one you forgot to show, Bourbon St.
Wow thanks! I missed the 5th one. Something to go back for. 😂
The large nugget at the Golden nugget in Laughlin is in the check-in location.
Thanks! I can't believe I missed it, but I guess I'll just have to go back to see it one day.
@@Milestomemories Party pooper here.......it's fake. not real gold
They do have a golden nugget it's in the entrance on the other side of the atrium to the left unless they took it out
Yeah I missed it. Next time I'm out there I'll film it!
Laughlin one of my favorite places
Looks like one river that refuses to pollute.
I love Laughlin
New Sub. Love your videos. Great content!
I like you videos a lot.
