Our bodies are marvels of evolution, designed intricately to thrive on a plant-based diet rather than a carnivorous one. Unlike true carnivores such as lions and crocodiles, humans lack the physical attributes necessary for consuming meat as a primary food source.
First, let's consider our jaw and teeth. Carnivores have powerful jaws and sharp, pointed teeth designed for tearing flesh. Lions, for instance, can crush bones with their bite. In contrast, humans have flat molars and a more limited jaw opening, suited for grinding and chewing plant materials. Our canines, though present, are small and not built for ripping through tough meat.
Next, our digestive system tells a compelling story. Carnivores have a short and simple digestive tract, which allows them to quickly process meat and expel waste before it putrefies. Their stomachs are highly acidic to break down proteins and kill harmful bacteria found in decaying flesh. Humans, however, have a long and complex digestive system, ideal for breaking down fibrous plant foods. Our stomach acid is much less acidic compared to that of carnivores, making us less suited for a meat-heavy diet.
Additionally, our hands are designed for gathering and handling a variety of plant foods. Unlike the claws of a predator, our fingers and opposable thumbs are perfect for picking fruits, vegetables, and nuts. This further emphasizes our evolutionary adaptation towards a plant-based diet.

Fish eat other animals. Chickens will also eat animals. Most herbivores will eat other animals. Our digestive tract is longer than strict carnivores, but shorter than strict herbivores.

Our digestive system is more like a dog's than a cow's. We just can't digest plants as good as gorillas do. Otherwise there were no need for carnivores to eat meat, they could just eat plants.

As omnivores, gorillas consume both plants and animals in their diet. In addition to consuming a lot of plant matter, gorillas occasionally consume insects.
