- Carl Gustav Jung (26 July 1875 - 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. His work has been influential not only in psychiatry but also in anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy and religious studies. As a notable research scientist based at the famous Burghölzli hospital, under Eugen Bleuler, he came to the attention of the Viennese founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. The two men conducted a lengthy correspondence and collaborated on an initially joint vision of human psychology. Freud saw in the younger man the potential heir he had been seeking to carry on his "new science" of psychoanalysis. Jung's researches and personal vision, however, made it impossible for him to bend to his older colleague's dogma and a breach became inevitable. This break was to have historic as well as painful personal repercussions that have lasted to this day. Jung was also an artist, craftsman and builder as well as a prolific writer. Many of his works were not published until after his death and some are still awaiting publication.
Among the central concepts of analytical psychology is individuation-the lifelong psychological process of differentiation of the self out of each individual's conscious and unconscious elements. Jung considered it to be the main task of human development. He created some of the best known psychological concepts, including synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, the psychological complex, and extraversion and introversion.

This man might’ve ended up as an archaeologist. What a blessing that he became an archaeologist of the psyche.
Well said.
Incredibly intelligent man. He seems misunderstood by some, but that tends to be the case for most geniuses.
Jung was not only brilliant, he was a really lovely man.
I visited that wonderful house a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere in incredible. Go to Zurich, get on the S16 train, pay the 20 francs and take the tour!!
I hope I get the chance soon.
It's been on my schedule for quite some time now.
A great gift to humanity would be a transcript of his 13 hour conversation with Freud in 1907.
Indeed, I'm not even sure if it was recorded?...
John Freeman was a very focussed interviewer and it was great to hear this interview of Jung which gave me a completely fresh view of Jung’s character.
How I love this man! “The only real danger that exists is man himself.” Oh Jung, sadly, we still haven’t transcended ourselves...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I join you in the collective unconscious.
withdraw your Self projection on this man and individuate yourself
What a heartwarming interview! Thank you.
He has such a kind face ❤
The music at the beginning was excruciating, it should be used for interrogation purposes lol
JadeRabbit I was expecting to hear Florence Foster Jenkins at any moment 🤣
Must have been played on an old wind up old 78 gramophone.
I dont think it was meant to be like that, its probably a technical issue.
@@spencermariano8454 also some deteriation, probably on a video reel.
😅😅😅
So interesting to see the Man in full on screen. He seems like such a nice, grounded chap, with a great set of morals.
The interviewer sounds a bit like Vincent Price. Jung seems youthful for someone his age, with a sparkle in his eyes.
LoveFlatfootin1 I noticed it too!
Omg yesss!!!
And his mind is quite sharp for his age, too

"I'm postulating that the function of art, and I include in this category creative work in science -- that is, creation in the widest sense is to put us in touch with what we know and don't know that we know. You can't tell anybody anything he doesn't know already." - William S. Burroughs
i.e. knowledge acquisition as a process of reclamation -- the anamnesis of Plato and PK Dick.
these regards last longer then life.
I don't even conceptualise the first question but he answered with that clearness genius
that song is going to give me nightmares... I hope my shadow doesn't manifest itself in my dreams with this music in the background......
The greatest psychological mind bragging of beating up 5 guys. Love how imperfect the perfect is.
How human he was.
Remarkable command of English, particularly given that he never lived in England. Perfect fluency.
0:52 music plays when im depressed but my persona has to be happy to please my little nepthew
Life behaves as if it is going on ...
You don'f find that ethos in modern times, to maintain professional discretion about a person even after their death. I admire that kind of integrity. For all his faults, and in his younger years he had a few, I have great respect for Jung as a person as well as a brilliant professional.
Jack - Do you believe that sun exist?
Mack- I don't have to believe that sun exist,I know.
Interviewer: Did you often have violent thoughts about people when you were young?
Jung: No, not exactly. Only when I got mad. Well, then I beat them up.
This guy is fuckin' awesome haha.
Such a lad at times 😄
Fascinating interview. It was generous of Jung to share his insights with this fellow. If possible, removing the warped musical score would be a step in the right direction; silence is preferable.
I prefer it be left the way it is. And I don't want it colorized or in "HD."
Quite amazing that he was friends with Freud
"I don't need to believe. I know."
What? Only less than 5000 views?
And why are you surprised? lol
I wish the interviewer asked him to elaborate when he replied "I know , I don't need to believe".
J money you know sun rises in the morning do you need to believe that?
Observe his expression
J money I don't think elaboration is necessary. He means exactly what he says. He needs not believe because he knows a higher power exists. I used to be a hardcore atheist but over the last decade I began to see that it is delusional to claim that there isn't an intelligent power behind the miraculous existence of the Universe. Many of us have an intuitive inner knowing about this but the western materialistic paradigm attempts and often succeeds in programming doubt/denial in some people . My belief is that there is nothing that truly exists external to the "mind" of a universal, non-physical conscious energy. Nothing truly physical could ever emerge from nothingness, rather an illusion of duality and a physical existence has manifested out of a necessity that is far beyond the capacity of the human mind to ever comprehend.
he elaborates on it in the red book, toward the end in 'scrutinies'... it would be very difficult to explain without context though. At least my partial understanding would be insufficient to explain it plainly and shortly.
hey mate, if you're still interested he explains this subject in the answer to the question on 31:56
Complete respect that he still denied to talk on the dreams given to him by Freud. Even when the interviewer says "he's been dead many years now" shame on the interviewer.
💖💖💖💖💖!..
I new i was,but then i forgot
Please tell me the name and composer of the orchestral music played at the start. Thanks
The music
I can't believe the interviewer asked Jung about the content of Freud's dreams - ! I don't think Jung could believe it either. Noone with even the vaguest idea of psychoanalysis or doctor-patient ethics would think that was a reasonable question.
Me: unconsciously comparing myself with Jung
Also me: gets burned by Jung's genius
I told people i knew on several occasions maybe ten years ago i get the feeling that something is trying to communicate with me but i dont know how to communicate back strange things were happening not so much the events but the odds of them must be in the trillions even this past three years they happened quite a lot i used to get embarrassed but now i know there's something more to this life i chuckle this past three years life has been hell but thanks to that great human being Jordan peterson mentioning Carl jung on many occasions i found an answer or a name for what i have been experiencing, Synchronicity & the collective unconscious thank you carl jung . I worry in todays world do they really know what they are tampering with this AI that we are all teaching through comments in live stream podcasts all the crazy nonsense the village idiot put out there for more idiots like myself to comment on were the term it doesn't make any sence is for ever banded about it makes perfect sense if good way to train an AI program. My fear is if & when AI becomes conscious & given the in 1year it will be 1000 times smarter then in 2 years it will be 1,000,000 what will a being like that do to the collective unconscious....
That opening music is horrifying.
James Goldberg I think it's awesome and I'm about to cut it into samples to use in a beat.
Conscious Robot hope the 808 sounds like a fog horn from hell. Ever check out 808 underworld channel?
James Goldberg I do have a great formula for when I do have a need for 808s. A good example can be heard in "Colors for the Blind" and probably a few others on my channel. I don't make beats of any sort of "generic" styles and believe I truly have a sound of my own.
Anyway, no I'm not familiar with the 808 underworld channel but I'll check it out! Thanks.
Conscious Robot yea I looked at your sounds. Reminds me of late hardstyle and some things I’d find on UFK dubstep some years ago. Good stuff, punchy.
James Goldberg thanks for checking it out
The key question about Putin's shadow: do we know of past episodes/instances in Putin's life where he's been under severe stress and pressure, did his repressed psychic traumas manifest themselves? Did he control them? Did he lash out verbally? did he act, did he lash out physically?
Believe has no place where truth is concerned
Unless you make the unconscious conscious it will direct your life and you will call it fate grant man curl jung

Falcon 'system' pipe. Surprisingly poor choice.
Man cannot stand a meaningless life. - Well, I do think of no meaning when I look at the world in the first place. Because there is no meaning in the first place. We give meaning to something and something is giving meaning to us. But really - just as objectively seen as possible - meaning surely is only in regard of something else: "It means something to me/ to him & her/ to us /to them"; The only exemption, when a thing can mean something to nothing, is everything together having meaning to itself, therefore in no regard to anything else because there wouldn't be anything that exists that would be able to give meaning to something else, yes, so the non-idealistically called universe, or just _all_ in contrary to nothing (emptiness or pure space) - is the only thing being able to have meaning to itself. But anything else, as showed above, can only have meaning in regard of something else.
This leads to the question why it would be necessary to think on something entirely of his own? and if not, why we do so?
You raise a good point there. And you point out the main difference if the eastern and western mind. The west seeks liberation through individuation or becomming self through accomplishment or creation. The east see the liberation through becoming nothing or becoming all there is .
or do we?... thoughts, dreams, ideas, insights... no matter witch gatehouse, collective unconscious has always been an issue... mostly terra taurial.... l love Carl Jung. I like HOW he says what he says.... 🌗🌞
Um this dude has done nothing to create society
then again... who has?
