Applauds to you, Chasing Cardboard, I was wrong. You have changed my mind, I had commented on your video months ago due to you under pricing a card during a negotiation. I used to feel you were trying to get one over on the sellers. Now, you have the most wholesome interactions with pure and unadulterated honesty at every step. You produce the best content the hobby has ever seen. And you do it while teaching everyone the right way to do business. Thank you for what you do, and my deepest apologies for my misjudgment.
The dealer I sell all my high value cards to is as straight up as 12:00 and I really appreciate that. That’s the only way to do business and I sell to him for less because of the transparency and no b.s. back and forth. I HATE that. So the brutally honest, current market price on that day is the only way to buy and sell this stuff.
I'm from England and all I know about American sports is Lebron James, Steph Curry and KD. Yet I watch all these videos. It feels like a discovery channel series
I'm a 55 year old American whose been collecting for almost 50 years. But I still learn stuff on here or discover things that I had no idea existed. So then I have to try and track some down lol
Fanatics is the source of greed. It's not the breakers fault. They have no say in price points and honestly it hurts them the same as us if that's how they make their living. Do some research and you'll see what I mean. Corporate greed is ruining everything not just sports cards and it's not fair that everybody is blaming the wrong people. Obviously there are shitty breakers ripping people off but not the majority
Great episode! That guy knew the price for his cards. My quirk is that I have to put all of the cards I get in the mail in new sleeves and holders that match my collection. Very rarely does something come in that I keep in the same protection.
I use FCP myself. I'm glad to see you use a Mac. What program do you use to catalog your cards? There use to be a Mac program called Card Collector but I don't think they are in business anymore. I just use Excel for tracking my cards. The next time I'm in Atlanta I'm gonna stop by your card store.
My quirk. I collect cards of father and sons that played. Brothers that played the same year. Managers and their cards as players. Main niche is all Baltimore Orioles base cards, all manufacturers from 1954 to date.
Missouri and more specifically the Springfield/Branson/Rolla region has a special place in my heart! I’m not from there but a short visit in 2022 left me with some lasting memories! The Unitas at the end was the most surprising to me.
im from Steelville about 30 min from rolla and i love living around here nicest people i have ever lived around. I have a pretty significant stl blues collection around 5000 autos pretty extensive fabbri and stephen piscotty rookie collections ive always wanted @CHASINGCARDBOARD to check it out and see if it is worth selling or just keeping them to look at. i dont have the option of going to detroit and vegas now to even sell them two rookie collections. i know they could.
I collect only T206’s I’ll never complete the rarest couple… for obvious reasons…but I’m getting close to having the rest. I believe in saving for one supremely fine card, rather than have 1000 decent ones.
Quirk. Whenever one of my teams wins a title, I get the Chrome/Refractor rookie of every Player on the team AND A chrome/refractor from the season that they won the title. Luckily, most of my teams suck but it makes the championships fun.
Awesome video as always. My collecting is rather simple. I live in Wyoming so I collect all professional players that were born in Wyoming or any player that played for any of the Wyoming Cowboys College teams ie: Josh Allen, Jim Kiick and of course Wyoming's legend Conrad Dobler!
My collection is in order of my favorite team 1st , then casehits , then my goats all in order. The base cards I have are all decided into sets by the year. First is football , then baseball basketball at back end.
That was the craziest organization of cards that I’ve ever seen by number. Also that was the quickest and easiest negotiation that I’ve ever seen. Seller was definitely on point. Great episode as always.
Quirks: Currently, I only purchase cards that are $300 and higher. They MUST be graded by PSA and in a newer PSA slab. I have also began keeping the cards in plastic sleeves as well. Wow, typing this all out makes me seem like a diva. I’ve been called worse.
my quirk is to always make the parallel relevant to the set in some way... whether listing card or showing it off ... what the design is what the intent is.
Most surprising to me was how low the Unitas card sold for followed by the LeBron/Karl Malone game used jersey Card, you’ve got the number one and number three all time points leaders! And it’s almost 20 years old!
Apparently, Karl Malone wasn't a very nice guy and did a lot of heinous things while in the NBA (some of which I believe you can look up in public court records). Many people refuse to collect his stuff, thus his market is pretty small. If that card didn't have Lebron, it'd probably take a year to sell at $5.
What an amazing show! Love the content and story behind it. I am in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 and very much look forward to a new release. Thanks again. I will keep chasing from down under 👍
My collecting quirk is I collect all panthers cards. I still collect them even if the card depicts that they’re not on the team anymore but they are still pictured on the panthers. Also will collect college uni cards of the years they played with the team. I also put every ring from base to numbered (greater than/50) in binders by year by brand alphabetically. Everything /50 or less or hits are in top loaders or mags.
My quirk, 9 of the same exact card per page was my goal when I first started to collect back in the 80's. When I couldn't get 9 I at least tried to get 3, I don't know a full page of 9 just looked glorious! For a huge bonus I would get 18 of the same card a full 2 page spread!
It looks like he has a very high volume of valuable cards. It seems like he would lose an awfully high percentage of total value in trying to do a one time deal. Though I understand that the time input, is the relative factor.
@@CHASINGTYWILSON Have stopped in a few times. Awesome store! You should check out 417 sports cards in Lebanon Missouri next time you're close to Springfield. It's our local card shop.
So Robert originally sold what he had to David - and then he just plunged in and built up a whole other collection? (Glad I found this channel for the off season - ha. So entertaining!)
Another great episode! Thank you Ty and CC team. Kudos to that card shop owner. I can't imagine there'd be too many businesses that'd allow business to be conducted on their premises that didn't involve them in the deal. I don't know the gentleman, but it speaks volumes of the man. Good karma heading his way (and, due to 'spoiler alert', it sounds like you repaid that karma to him). Really is great to see. 👍
I wonder why more card shops don’t use something like COMC to clear out those warehouses and have a “store” to sell product online where they don’t have to process any of it in or out. Help me understand.
As a collector my cork is I like to have a page full of the same card. I also do that with Pokémon , but only limited to one Pokémon Which usually go to my favorite player or set. Also I like to complete the sets, it’s usually the insets I go after like 90s-2000s era
Great show!! Love the content and the behind-the-scenes pricing. I have been collecting for the last year or so. I have gotten cards through Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and garage sales. The most expensive card I have gotten is a Jennifer Hermoso card off eBay, under $20. So I am very out of touch with the prices of primo cards. That said, it was a lot of fun to guess the prices -- more of that, please :). I was off the most on the Shohei Ohtani (my guess: $600) and closest on the Hakeem Olajuwon (my guess: $45 under). My best find so far is an Orlando Cepeda rookie card in excellent condition for $2 at my local thrift store (since then, the store has upped their prices to north of $30 for a Frank Thomas single.)
Just to be annoying, the Bass Pro store in Springfield is the flagship store, however it is not the headquarters. The headquarters, or what Bass Pro calls Base Camp, is on Kearney Street in Springfield.
I've never heard of this technique in collecting lol but the thing I collect are game used memorabilia cards from all the greatest nfl RBs. From Emmit Smith and Adrian Peterson to Jamal Charles and LeGarrette Blount
Im organizing by player. Unless. Its $500 or more. I keep those together then 1k to 3k and then 5k or above. And let me tell ya 3k or higher are tougher to move for cash than anything right now. Everyone is on survival mode and cant afford it. Everyone wants to trade. But when covid came Everyone was buying modern. And i went vintage and i made out like a bandit. Only modern card i bought when covid hit was east west jordan kobe refractor beckett 9.5 for 3k. But love the channel and stay blessed with success and nothing less
The Jim Drunkenmiller surprised me going for more than some of the others lol. Great video. David and Mark at Arrowhead sports cards are the best! That is my local card shop. Love that place and I am a life long Raiders fan!

Sadly I want out of the hobby it’s been ruined by greedy breakers and we’re all lying to ourselves that we’re not in another junk wax era.
Same. Got back into it during covid, but just not viable for most people now.

Druckenmiller because I have never heard of him. I also wanted to send a big shout out to whoever finally decided to close the bathroom door.
Remember, would u rather have a 1k card or 10 $100 cards?
Always 10 $100 cards (if you plan on reselling)
My quirk: I like collecting insert sets with Michael Jordan that contain 10 cards. 9 cards look great in a 9-page binder and MJ in a PSA holder.
