DJ a while back said during that photo shoot with his belts he didn't have enough space or storage to carry all the belts back to where he was staying, so the UFC just put it into storage and he never got word on his belts again. Of course idk if this is true or not but he's definitely spoken about it in the past.

DJ was a no-nonsense, elite fighter who is on the MMA Mount Rushmore. He earned that respect by defending his title like what? 14 times? The guy earned his due respect from the UFC. Woodley didn’t.
Dana is an absolute master of manipulating situations in his control to make it sound reasonable on his side. Asking a random reporter if he’d like to earn 2 million is a great example of this. Got everyone in the room on his side with that comment although the analogy is unfair bottom line
The thing is tho that he's not a master. If it's blatantly obvious everytime he does it it's not well done. It's just that no one ever calls him out on it (apart from Steve Iolie recently) and you have a chunk of brain dead fans who just believe everything he says even though they've been told the opposite a week before.

As much as the fans lament how Dana disrespected DJ very few fans at the time of his reign respected him either. Even among "hardcore" fans it was a pretty big split between "cut these manlets" and "you'll miss him when he's gone". Most of the fans who hate on Dana for this whole situation would have been exactly the same people jumping on the "fuck flyweight" bandwagon back then too.

he cultivated and grew his own talent. he not only competed through multiple generations of the old and new talent - he led the pack as world champion in multiple organizations in both the western mma orgs and eastern mma orgs as #1. he never ducked. he was always active through his career. he retired late and hes been the champion up until now and as #1. he carved out his path out in mma in multiple organizations. 15x champ. hes still operating in the mma realm and still loves mma. he still practices other martial arts and trains on the leading edge of combat sports advancement. and he gives to the community.

If I recall correctly, I think they're saying different numbers (2 million Vs 1 million) because Dana is including show money + win money, whereas when Mighty Mouse is saying 1 million he is just talking about one of those figures - namely the figure being increased).
