If you looking for more Stromae: 'Papaoutai ' (almost at a billion views), 'Formidable ', Tous les memes '. All are fire and come with epic videos! He a genius on multiple levels!
At this moment, Stromae goes again to a difficult phase. Hope everything goes well with him because I love his music, his performance, his lyrics. Looking forward to hear new stuff from him. Take a look at other music from him (Quand c'est, Papaoutai, Fils de Joie, Formidable, Tous les memes and a lot more !
Man, I love Stromae. I'm not really following his career but I know quite a few of his songs - they're all awesome. He's been around for a long time, too. I think I heard him the first time back in 2009 with Alors on danse - at least that's my earliest memory of him.
@@nickforell1 He left the spotlight for like 6 years after a bad reaction ftom lariam medicine, followed by mental struggles. He came back from retirement unexpected, last year with L'enfer being the second single he dropped, started a highly succesfull American tour (my man sold out Madison Square Garden twice!), but now recently had to cancel shows on his European tour till the end of May. Little is known about the circumstances but it's fair to say he is most likely not doing well again.
First time I'm watching one of your reaction video. I'm really impressed by your comments and insight and the way you understood the song. Stromae is one of a kind. He often plays with words, so the translated lyrics are less powerful but you still get the message. He usually has upbeat songs with powerful lyrics. There are many songs you can react to, like Cancer (with word play), Papaoutai, Carmen or Formidable.
@@nickforell1 here's one suggestion for another reaction to Stromae, excellent video too (completely different though, very high production value...) and a great message! Stromae - Fils de joie (Official Video) ruclips.net/video/M7Z2tgJo8Hg/видео.html
Stromae is literally a genius from Belgium. Listen to all of his songs and you will know what his name means. Turn around the name Maestro and you know what I mean 😊
Hello from France, Nick! Nice reaction to this incredible song and amazing artist. Thank you. Stromae is just 'Maestro' inverted. Next, I would suggest 'Fils de Joie' and or 'Santé' on your path to discovering Stromae. The videos you'll find have both English subs.
Wow. Never heard of this guy. Such provocative lyrics. They are very personal. So, I assume he wrote them. He has such a cool signature look also. Thanks for a dope video, introducing me to artists I wouldn’t otherwise have known. Really love your videos in this room. It feels like I’m a guest in your home. The closet you used for other videos looks like you’re a hostage! 😂 ✌️
Anytime Roro, it's fun going on a journey together. haha it wasn't a closet just a very bad wall. I'm moving apartments in a couple months so it will be much better hopefully
He wrote all of his song, all are so personal and strong. Love him, with every time such a strong video to feel all the emotions. This song is about a medicine he took against paludism in 2015 during his African tour. The medicine, the effect of the Lariam create a psychic decompensation to him and he have to stop his career for 5 year and suffer of anxiety and suicidal tough… he still suffering but so happy to see him again sharing some struggle like that, struggle sometimes are taboo but need to be heard.
He writes and produces the music, writes the lyrics, designs the costumes and artwork, makes the choreopgraphies and produces the videos himself. Can't trust anyone else to do anything for if you're a genius i guess. Besides that he's really friendly and cool. Too bad he's suffering from health issues he had to cancel half his tour again. :(
So happy to see you reacting to Stromae! I'd love to see your reaction to "Papaoutai," an older song of his. The video for that one is one of the most creative and unique videos I've ever seen, and it's an amazing song.
Saw him in 2015 at coachella ans then again last year in San Francisco. best performer I have seen. And I have been to over a thousand shows/performances including Adele, Beyonce, Kanye, Gorilas, Metallica, etc. A master
I found your channel because of your NF journey. But as a francophone I'm really excited that you reacted to Stromae. He is amazing. I encourage you listen to his songs on your own even if you don't react to them. You may recognize a collab he did with Kanye. Don't worry about the translations, Stromae has said that the emotion of music is universal, you don't necessarily need to be fluent in the language being sung to appreciate the artistry. Interesting you said bird trapped in a cage... He has a social media critique to the tune of L'amour est un oiseau rebelle from Bizet's Carmen worth reacting to. Santé!
this was fire, the visuals have minimalist feel but still remained powerful, even his moves was almost like interpretive dance/ krump dancing, which foreshadowed that this was all within himself, found a new artist to look into.
You are about to embark on an amazing Journey! Stromae is one of a kind and I am not Just saying that as a Stan. His videos are epic, his lyrics on point and his live performances are unimaginably good
Whats good to know. Belgium has three languages, Dutch in the north, French in the south and a little German in the west of the country. Brussels is 80% French speaking. Stromae is a French speaking Belgium artist. And what is good to know further is that the French language has a lot of double sense in words and sentences "double sense" the call it in French. And that makes the text powerful. But Stromae is more then that. The tension in the music, performance and for dance. All together very powerful artist. And I like a lot his androgynity.
i'd really like to see more of stromae on the channel, it's a pity he's often snobbed in america mostly because of the language barrier but he's a star in europe and there's a lot to discover, each song is a journey and leaves you thinking (Some recommendations just in case: fils de joie, quand c'est, papaoutai, tous le memes, formidable, alors on dance, santé are among my favourites and some of his biggest hits. All have incredibly creative and poignant videos too)
wtf.... why the fuck did i just put on my biggest widdest smile when you said "a lot of people put a brave face on" like I was trying to tell this person on screen that "no no no... see? I am actually happy. See, i'm fine! someone who isn't okey can't smile this wide" When I know the opposite is true... Thanks for the reaction
I know you posted this 2 years ago, but I really like your reaction as a person and a professional in the mental health sector. I have goosebumps every time I hear it, it grips you... I think it's also the white voice singing (common in Eastern Europe, the singers here are Bulgarian I think). It's a very raw style of singing (check out "Shum" by Ukrainain "Go_a" for another example I like). Or google "white voice singing". As to his interesting look: He us mixed race. He is half Belgian, half Rwandan. His Dad was killed on the genocide in the 90s. Stromae this year had to stop his world tour due to his health. Stromae is an anagram of "Maestro".
Could you also watch/react the live version which was embedded on the most seen news program in France. It's startling how the interview and song were set up together: ruclips.net/video/YAG6nj7Sff8/видео.htmlsi=v8gflwHuOZjfRLqu
@@nickforell1 Sure, thought I'd provide some more background and my own thoughts. I really like all the folklore, visual and dance elements from around the world, that he put into "Multitude".
I'm glad you've made a reaction for this music, I find it so clear and non judgemental about depression. If you'd like to listen to other french speaking artists, I'd advise Orelsan with "Notes pour trop tard" ("Notes for too late"), "Basique" ("Basic") and "L'odeur de l'essence" ("The smell of gasoline"), he's one of the most famous french rapper and has some really great tracks. And also Gael Faye a french rapper/singer with "Tôt le matin" ("Early in the moring") and "Petit pays" ("Small country"), his style is a bit similar to Stromae's style and he's a really talented writer. I hope everyone is having a great day/night, a lot of love to anyone who need it !
@@nickforell1 he really wanted to put mental health in light, he even did an amazing performance in the middle of an interview on a big french chanel, I think it even was during the evening news. I'm sure you'd like it, even without filming a reaction. It's chilling in a good and depressing way, if that makes sense. Thanks for your videos, watching them is always a good time ^^
@@nickforell1 As Yan suggested Orelsan (I agree, he’s a very talented musician and lyricist), there’s an easy bridge to him: a duet with Stromae called “La pluie” (The rain). Very nice song and awesome MV. Cheers;-)
first thing 1st about the meaning of his name, it's a common street thing in french countries (stromae is from belgium) to use what we call "verlan" which is what you hear if u loop the french word "l'envers" which means backwards (in reverse order). So if it was a thing in english too it would be called "wardsback". So now u get it : stromae means maestro. Also i wanted to point out how meaningful the video clip is. First time i heard the song after a little digging i learnt it was about a depression he had a few years before. But after seeing the video clip with that epanadiplosis on the eye, i think that the depression he is describing is deeper : after his final fight against his dark thoughts he is just back in his initial state (meaning of this epanadiplosis in my mind) because existencial questions are inherent to the human kind and one never gonna totaly solves them.. So yeah Stromae is not just a singer, he is IMHO a natural tormented artist, both in his work and his vision of what life is.
if no one mentioned before, Stromae is an anagram for Maestro which could not be closer to the truth. You should definitely check other videos, Quand C'est and Formidable to start with. Fingers crossed for Stromae who is going through hard times again now.
Essa música fala sobre um momento difícil que ele passou, depressão,crises de anciedade 😢 e só quem realmente tem vai entender o verdadeiro sentido dessa música

L'enfer, c'est les autres.. J.P. Sartre. I'm from belgium but raised in dutch. French is a great poetic language but all of that is gone in the literal traduction in the subs
I have a slightly different interpretation to the guilt trip channel lyric - it's not about feeling guilty that you caused the atrocities, it's feeling guilty that you are depressed when you "have it so good". Look at all these poor war displaced people, and you, who lives in a safe country with all the opportunities in the world, are depressed? Shame on you...
