@@jestfullgremblim8002 I would doubt that. it's probably the same way as eye-sight getting worse with age. you start to see less sharp and can't just adjust by knowing your dioptrine and calculating the correct picture in your head xD knowing eactly how much you're off would contradict the nature of being less accurate
@@jestfullgremblim8002 theres not enough study done on it (because its such a rare condition to begin with) but it usually starts with people 55+ and people have reported different things. Some hear a semitone to a full tone sharper (its usually sharper), some have said it shifts less than a full semitone so its cents higher which messes with them, some people report having huge difficulty playing instruments theyve played their entire life because the note they are expecting to hear isnt what they are hearing anymore (i.e. i played an “E” but hear an “F”). Some people have reported having it worse in one ear versus the other so theres thoughts it could be like eyesight where its degrading with age but theres just not enough data.
Fun Fact: At first, IUPAC decreed that no elements should be named after living scientists. This rule was quickly repealed, but the daughter of Glenn Seaborg did not know this. This, when she heard that the element would be named seaborgium, she jumped to the conclusion that her father was dead.
