    I most definitely learned a lot from this video. I am doing my research on dash cams, and this rabbit hole is quite deep, but also very interesting.

      Samsung Max Endurance is also a great sd card

      @@SafeDriveSolutions That is what I have found from a few other reviewers. I am all about "Buy once, Cry once." I don't want to be in a situation where I buy a cheap card, can't see the video and am in a tight spot. Or over time, if I buy a few cheaper cards and they fail, I'd end up spending more money in the long run.

      @@jmackinjersey1 SD cards do fail over time. It is normal. I have been using sandisk extreme pro and been great for quite a while. Everyone has a preference. You will also find some dash cameras wont like the sd card you bought even with all your research.

    I am curious to find out if you can use a micro-SD card that exceeds the storage capacity of the dashcam camera's software/hardware? For example, the dashcam's manual recommends 128MB storage card. Can a 256MB card be used? will the camera use 256MB before it overwrites new data onto the card?

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  8 месяцев назад

      strongly recommend against this. We have heard of people completely missing sections of video because the dash camera will not support that amount of storage.

    What I want to know is. I have a nextbase 402G dash cam, and in the manual, it lists up to 32gb for an SD card. Am I able to use a bigger capacity card?

  • @dotconnector76
    @dotconnector76 Год назад +4

    Your sd reader is likely capped at 90MB/s. A few of those cards are over 90.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  Год назад +1

      I know most these cards were rated higher but they definitely did not score that way.

    • @dotconnector76
      @dotconnector76 Год назад +5

      @@SafeDriveSolutions -Despite the rating, other reviewers are getting much higher. They claim a faster reader is required for higher speeds. With all your cards not exceeding 90, it's likely the reader.

    Hello Ben, I am working on the last part here of my Dashcam project and found this video of yours tonight. My plan is to install a Thinkware U300 and a FIOFO A229 Pro 3ch in my Dodge Ram, but I'm starting with the FIOFO first.
    Since we get Dashcams as an insurance in case of an accident, I want to buy one of the V60 style microSD card you referred to, because I figure why get a great camera and then cheap out on potential less desirable video quality?
    I have found a "ProGrade" brand 512GB UHS-II V60 microSDXC Memory Card that has some great reviews. I would also like to know if you have brand recommendations, in case you don't have any information on the above?
    I believe this is the third question I've asked you in my quest to do this right, and I'm beginning to feel like you should be sending me an invoice for consultation fees! 😁
    I appreciate how you respond to our inquiries, and with a darn quick turnaround. Thank you sir!
