Could you install Thinkware U3000 with rear camera on a SUV, say KIA Sportage 2023?

I'm looking at getting a dash cam and it's so hard to decide as the bottom line is the cam has to take clear pictures and in terms of image quality and low light etc. the black vues seems better but then the thinkware has better radar parking mode as you need it to record before something happens so you capture the event and after. What to choose...

Did you disconnect the battery before removing the A pilar? How can i safely removing the A pilar without potentially setting off the airbag?

How long was the rear camera wire you used? Did it have any excess?

Did you have to allow full access to your “photos” on iPhone to be able to download the videos to your phone directly?

I have a Viofo A119 V2. Is that no longer supported? All I find is a V3 version.

I have a couple of questions 1.Do you recommend to turn on Low Power mode? 2.When parking in Low Power mode, does the camera get record only when there is an impact or when any kind of motion is detected? 3.What does the Front Motion and Rear Motion do when driving or parking? 4.Is there an impact from the Front Motion and Rear Motion settings when parking with Low Power mode? 5.What setting do you recommend for Front Montion and Rear Motion?

Would you be able to tell me why the wireless button doesn’t do the press and hold feature? No matter how many times I press and hold, it only ever gives me the message to connect to thinkware wifi, I cannot register it through the app either, tried many times, there is no bar code on the unit and I used what what was in the box with no success. It does record and I can access it through Wi-Fi when it does connect, but I have turn off my vehicles Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in the settings to even connect first.

I figured it out but this is not the way the newer version of the u3000 works, you can’t press the wireless button and wait for a beep anymore, that does NOT work no matter how long you hold it, when you press the button., it makes you connect to the thinkware Wi-Fi, then you can access it, only when you are NOT connected to your vehicle. I am thinking my unit may be defective, I can only press the button after restarting the unit or restarting my vehicle. None of the instructions online have worked. I can access it but it difficult each time, I have to turn off my vehicles Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in the settings each time, otherwise it keeps connecting and interfering. I haven’t been able to register it either, from what I am seeing online, there has to be a defect with my unit.

Thanks, good advice. I recently removed mine using a plastic tool (like a mini chisel), that I had in a toolkit for opening/repairing mobile phones. I didn't need to clean the windscreen as it was broke and going in for a new screen but I removed the 3M sticky stuff from the mount by slowly just peeling/rolling it off as it tends to stick to itself more readily than to the plastic of the mount. A final wipe over with an alcohol wipe, (for cleaning glasses/spectacles) to remove any stray sticky.

Garbage install 100%. No way a reputable shop would do that.

I have a dash cam and sometimes when i put it in it pings out in the car and i have to find it . The cam is stuck on the window it hard to put the card in and i have no fingernails so i have to be very careful as it again pings out and i have to look for it in the car. is there a easy way to put it in the slot in the Dash cam. I have the viofo a119 mini 2 and a139 pro in my cars. They’re great, but beware the GPS wont work if you have tint that contains metal on your windshield. The A119 mini 2 froze twice in the one year I’ve owned it. Restarted the camera and everything was fine. It hasnt frozen since I updated the firmware. The 139 pro has been flawless. The apps is simple and user friendly, and file transfer is pretty quick when connected to the 5GHz wifi. Image quality is excellent, even the a119 mini. And it’s not too picky about SD card choices. I used to have Blackvue dashcams, and they’re very particular about what SD card we use. But there’s one thing that the Blackvue impressed me about. It’s very durable. My first blackvue, the DR590W, was on my car for 6 years, and the only issue I had was with the battery, which made the the date and time settings went awry, but that was fixable with a little soldering. And it didnt affect the dashcam’s performance. I gave that dashcam to a friend, and it’s still running flawlessly today.

While watching videos such as this, check the resolution settings of the RUclips. The highest quality resolution of this particular RUclips video is 2160p, so the 3840p of the actual A229 Pro 4K likely looks even better in real life. It pays to always check the RUclips setting for "Quality" to see whether a video is posted in a higher resolution but your automatic settings for RUclips are are choosing a lower resolution.

does motion detection work for the rear camera on the Viofo A229? Or it only detects motion in the front camera?

Very important! I installed one in my grandparents Rav4, and upon impact the curtain airbag ripped the wiring and cut both cameras out. Live and learn!
