Nice video. I am still amazed that most car manufacturers don't build vehicle with rear cam installation easy...

I have a 2019 Rav4 limited hybrid. I am considering a Fitcamx integrated dash cam. Hopefully you can advise me if you have experience with it. Question; After installation, does it effect the rain sensor or any of the other safety features such as lane departure alert, cruse control, auto braking system or any other safety features

Do you need to add an online fuse (or fuses) when you splice off of the OBD2 port for always-on BATtery power and ACCessory? If no, why not? How do you test the OBD2 port after installation?

I typically dont on the obd2 cables i use because they have a 2amp fuse internally built in from what i was told.

Thanks sooo much for the video.
Pls do you disconnect the negative battery before removing the A-Pillar behind that airbag?
    Thanks

no we have never have disconnected the battery. Vehicles have changed a lot in the last 20 years. I think there is a lot of people who talk about the old vehicles where you could walk up to them and kick the bumper and the airbags will go off. If you do not feel comfortable doing it then I would say disconnect the negative battery terminal. But we do not.

Thanks so much for your swift response. I have always been watching almost all your videos and have learnt so much to be become a sudden online engineer 😀.
Have removed the A Pillar in my 2024 rav 4 more than a 5 times without removing the battery truly. But recently, I watched a tutorial that requires the removal of the A Pillar and the tutor mentioned removing it first.
So I just want to to know if have been doing it wrongly prior without disconnecting the battery.
      Thanks sooo much 💯👍

Follow up question... Why (in the video) did you hard wire the front fitcamx camera rather than using the plug&play wiring system to power the unit

Thanks for the great vid. I'm doing my wife's 2016 Highlander so this will be much the same as that especially re: the A-pillar. One question though: I was thinking of going low, down through the channel under the sill plates to avoid side curtain airbags. Are there any concerns about obstructing the side airbags going this route along the weather stripping to the back?

Your cable wont be long enough running it down low. We dont have any problems running it up top

good work and a very good example of how to disassemble plastic parts of a car part. Keep up the good work 👌

How long is the cable you used in the video for the rear camera? I have a 20ft cable and I'm unsure if It's long enough. Also, I tried popping off the A-pillar panel on my 2024 RAV4 Hybrid SE I managed to pull away the panel on the side where the weather stripping sits but for some reason on the side of the windshield it does not budge. Any thoughts?
