The other dash cam specialist stated that videos were not saved on the a229 pro in the parking mode Auto.... Fail to mention the USB C 3 or 4 video, but other inferior cable
If using an SSD on the Dashcam, will it be deleting older files to make room for newer files and if so, how does one make it not delete anything without a direct interaction with it?
I would've thrown my A229 Pro like a brick in the river if this has a cabin camera or at least compatible to be connected with one. I prefer coverage over the improvements of the A329. Thanks for the info.
@@SafeDriveSolutions Correct! I don't know why Viofo had to remove a vital component in exchange of some "nice to haves". By the way, have you done a review of the A229 Pro's latest firmware? I'm talking about the major update that was released a few months ago.
@@Velocity0428 I am thinking they are coming to the end of using this case housing. They must be building a new mould would be my guess. When building a new mould it can be complex. I have no for sures on this but that would be my guess. Also no I have not done a review of new firmware. I dont want to be the tester for all things Viofo so we realized that we periodically do reviews when necessary or when we see things being brought up like challenges we want to test them and see if it is true or misuse of the product.
Good question. I unplug it and it automatically switches to sd card. So i have never done a safe ejection. You can go into menu manually if you like and switch sources.
connecting an SSD to the device directly does seems like a good idea. HOWEVER, heat, SSDs will break if left in the car for a long time exposed to heat. constant writing to SSD will generates alot of heat too
@@yuding237 not all ssd is the same. sometimes it may feel cool outside, but different story inside. for me, i will buy some other SSD, in which i can always swap SSD using somekind of enclosure, cheaper that way
@@yuding237 all ssd is the same, no matter which brand or which product, they generates heat while operating. i am not talking about his in particular. if u hide it, presumably in a tight place, the situation become worse, much worse while in parking mode under the sun. i dont think any ssd will survive that. i guess we will see. btw, check the operating temperature of his ssd, sandisk says its 0 to 45c. p.s. i am not talking about durability, i am talking about heat damage
Amazon has reviews of customers that state cable failure USB type-C. USB 4 is rated for video 4K in 2K. Please test and find out as they have a five-star rating but not longer than 6.6 ft.
Just wanted to point out, the video rating of USB 4 is raw video to a monitor, not encoded video to file which uses the data transfer speed. As long as the cable can handle the speed of the SSD you'll be good.
I’ve had the viofo 139 pro since a year ago. The quality of footage is without question very very good. But… horrible interface via app, no way to update cam software over WiFi , and in recent weeks lots of issues with lack of saved clips, missing footage, and not been able to get to the bottom of it yet. Can you state if this latest kit allows update OTA ? Love the idea of an SSD !!!

you can set it to not write over old video files.

Is there an ejection feature built into the A329 to ensure safe unmounting? Assume you cant just unplug it without a possible corruption issue.

That particular drive he's using has better temperature ranges than normal drives

i had the 1.8 metre usb c cable from Viofo hooked up for 1.5 days straigh on my bench with zero issues.

you can do updates via usb-c cable directly to unit. Have you ever tried that?

the dash camera is constantly recording while driving. It wil not work in parking mode if not using parking mode cable and dash camera is turned off
