Aldo Nova played all the instruments on this album. ❤️🇨🇦🎶
This song was a jam, is a jam, and will always be a jam!!!
This always sounded like something the band Loverboy would’ve done. Which btw, you should checkout Loverboy - “Turn Me Loose”, “Working For the Weekend” or “When It’s Over”. Classic rock 80s from them.
Loverboy was the first concert I ever went to. "When It's Over" is really great but my fave on that album is "Lucky Ones".
All great songs. But don't sleep on the amazing loverboy song "the kid is hot tonight". Fire
Take me to the top. Love the bass line
@@jennxnationWv Yes!!! Take Me To The Top is my favorite!!
The Kid is Hot Tonight is still their best.
One of my favorite 80's songs. It was on many of my mix music cassette tapes.
I saw them in 1991 opening for Great White and the Scorpions. Everyone was sitting down through their whole set until they played this song, it sounded great LIVE.
He had another semi hit.....without looking it up, something about a Monkey. It's pretty good from what I remember.
Aldo Nova definitely an underated Guitarist 🤘
TOTAL FIRE!
1982 I was 15, this song got alot of airplay❤
ALDO NOVA was a one hit wonder - he defined cheese - the video says it all - BUT, a damn good song - cheese and all.
It was the early 80’s boys that’s how it was
Thanx for the memory lane trip! It should be mentioned that Aldo played Every instrument (except drums, I think) on this album - plus all vocals, mixing, arranging... everything! Impressive as hell. Fooling Yourself was also a hit from it (and Ball & Chain? Not sure. 40 years ago, after all!)
Walked into the arcade , it's 1983, feeling bad ass and ready to take over and this song is blaring...:)
Another great guitarist from Canada. This banger came out in 1982 and early in life Aldo was inspired by Jimi Hendrix and jazz. The video for this is pretty cool and will have you rockin. I remember buying the album back then and wasn't disappointed. The album reached # 8 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA on May 14th, 1982, platinum on February 14, 1989 and Double Platinum on December 5, 1994, congrats.
Context this was very early 80's at the earkiest stages of MTV before, Bon Jovi or any of those bands broke big.
Whenever I bought a new stereo this was the first song I would play, just to hear the epic intro of the helicopters & machine guns!
So forget all that you see...it's not reality.....it's just a fantasy...
Powder pleasure, In your noses tonight.
In 1982, Aldo Nova was the opener on a quadruple bill at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA a couple of days before the 4th of July. The other artists on the bill were Triumph, Blue Oyster Cult and Journey (Escape tour). Incredible show!
Damn! What a billing!
@danjmcs it was. And there was a major food fight between the BOC and Jouney sets. Being on the field of the Rose Bowl was not the best place to be then, but during each bands' sets, it couldn't be beat! Oh, and of course, fireworks after the concert.
@@TheCkent100 So cool, great memories! I was at Autzen Stadium in Eugene for a few Oregon Jams during that era, great times! Have been to the Rose Bowl for other events, but never a concert.
Thanks for reacting to this song. I haven’t heard it in decades !!
NICKELBACK.. BOTTOMS UP.. LYRIC VIDEO..
Aldo wrote for Celine Dion and won many awards.
Great song! I recorded the video in the early 80's off of MTV (on VHS tape).
This song is one of those that will always make me think back to my early clubbing days in the early 80s .Especially here in Canada, Aldo Nova,Gino Vanelli, Loverboy, The Spoons, The Payollas. All Groups you’ve probably never heard of. Mix them together with Billy Idol ,Bon Jovi , Flock of Seagulls and a few others. All staple club music from the early 1980’s where I grew up in the Vancouver area. Thanks for another great review. Keep them coming.
Sorry, you had me 'til Flock of Seagulls.
Payolas, Eyes of a Stranger is a great track.
I had this album, and this was their biggest song 🎵 were I'm from and they played this song on the radio alot ,and it was also played on MTV when they actually played music videos and not all the stupid reality shows. Much love to you and your families.Brandi Modrak.
Yes. More Canadian love. I really hope someone does Streetheart. I haven’t seen a reaction to them yet. “Action” would be a good one.
Aldo is a HUGE name in the music industry. It's funny you mentioned Bon Jovi; their band worked in his studio.
He also has a special edition of the Gibson Les Paul guitar that was made for him. An original of it is a huge collector's item.
This was the first song that I taught myself on guitar.
From my hometown of Montreal. Played non-stop on Canadian radio stations.
I think I enjoy this song mainly because it brings back great memories of high school for me. Never seen the video before. The leopard jammies were kinda funny. Thanks for the memories, Boys. You guys always cheer me up.
Makes me wanna listen to more Canadian music, namely Triumph! The entire Allied Forces album is spectacular. “Fight The Good Fight”and “Magic Power” are two I’d love to see you react to.
Love "Magic Power" and "I Live For the Weekend" 🔥
Rik Emmett is the man
This was in rotation on MTV. That's how I knew it. Never heard it on the radio
This was the JAM back in the day! This whole Album kicked Butt, this is Aldo Nova's Debut, try his Track Monkey On Your back from his second Album Subject: Aldo Nova
🎶"...buy your kicks from the man in the white...feels alright, powder pleasure in your nose tonight...*sniff*...." 🎶
In the 80s this was on MTV ALL THE TIME, but not on the radio
It was on radio. It went high on the charts
Exactly the sort of song you’d hear during the closing credits of any early 80s action movie. Ty looks totally mesmerized during the opening couple of minutes... couldn’t decide if it was the music or him pondering whether or not to scour thrift shops over the weekend for a matching catsuit...😺
This was the shit back in the day and I’ll still jam this every once in awhile.
Hey good choice in songs never forgot this one
A great 80's hit! My friend Dave on bass guitar. He still owns and plays with the same one today.. Btw, the first line is: City nights, summer breeze make you feel all right
It was constantly on MTV in the 80's.
Fun fact.... Aldo Nova opened for Saga during 1984 Canadian tour
Saw them with Journey, Blue Oyster Cult and Triumph. It was a great time for music
What an incredible lineup, that had to be a fantastic performance!
This is one of my favorite songs from the early 80s, and it was played quite a bit on the radio back then. Banger song for me! He had one other - Monkey on your Back - which was decent, but wasn't as popular as this one.
There is another Canadian artist from this time that I have been trying to get people to react to. One song in particular that came out in 1985 that played on the airwaves for a very short time, but was a banger. The artist is Kim Mitchell and the song is called "Go for Soda". He is the guitarist and lead singer, and the baseline and drums just add to it. Would love you to react to it - but if you do, don't watch the video! lol. Its pretty bad. But the song is great! You guys are awesome! The musical background you have is amazing!
awesome reaction...Cheers!
I had a crush on him back in the day
Right outta high school in my buddy’s Silverado, blastin this tune thru that Pioneer stereo. I remember it well.
Omg....I just love watching the Bobble Heads move to one of my all time favorite songs. (Classic Rock)
The opening guitar lick was played on MTV back in the day....I forget what for. This song was in heavy airplay here in CA
This was on the radio in Minn. for 20+ years. All the time.
When we first heard this, it sounded like it was from the future. And his name sounds futuristic.
This was on the radio in Detroit great tune
Always loved this song! They still play it on our classic radio station😊 Keep On Rockin'
aldo played every instrument on this album
Having an annoying day. New video from these guys is a needed reprieve from life at the moment.
I’m with Ryan, I like the song!
i really enjoy your reaction video's
Oh yay… this was my suggestion!
Aldo’s 1982 debut album went Double Platinum in just 3 months. The entire album should be reacted to.
Hey here’s about her Canadian guitarist that was consider a big up and coming guy was Gary O. Did a few off of his original album. The big ones were Shades of 45 and Call of the Wild.
Aldo did Metal , Rock and New Wave music
Funny reaction great job
This was my first album. I won it for some reason at a church lock-in at St. Margaret Mary on Shelbyville Rd. I was maybe 11. Lol!
Monkey on Your Back is the best Aldo Nova song ever. About drug addiction. It rocks.
just discovered this channel and just watched the saga video...brings back lots of memories!
He wrote for Bon Jovi , they're good friends. He play all instrument on this album, "Ball and Chain" another song is cool , heck the whole album is.
I smoked many a speaker to Fantasy 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🤟🤟🤟
Staying in the 80s, check out She's A Beauty by The Tubes
This record kicked off the 80s like nobody else.
I saw Aldo Nova on what I think must have been his first U.S. tour after this record, supporting Blue Öyster Cult. It was really really loud. This was one of the more hilarious videos of the era. I love the part where he recoils from the lady at 9:17, like "Whoa, you didn't actually expect a guy wearing a leopard jumpsuit to be into you!"
The piano in the beginning sounds familiar to Toto’s Hold the line. The music you play, sure does bring me back. A least played song I remember in high school is Mary’s Prayer by Danny Wilson. Great content!
Aldo Nova Monkey on your back is a great song too.
Dudes You Rock!!!! STREETHEART is another awesome 80's Canadian Band you'll Love \m/
Honestly a one hit wonder but a cool song to jam to on your home made party play list.
I love how Ryan gets down to this one!!
I remember when Celine Dion won a ton of awards, Aldo Nova went up there with her and i was puzzled. I had no idea he wrote with her
Gentlemen Aldo nova actually had one more hit single that I believe it is better than fantasy. It’s called monkey on your back, it describes how someone can you get addicted to cocaine, heroin, etc. good song with a good message. Here is the studio version link
ruclips.net/video/utmw5wgVqjk/видео.html.
Sirius XM played that today. I love it.
Aldo Nova went on later to produce Celin Dion's album
Please remember that music videos were fairly new back in the 80's. This was one of my favorites back then. I still Love the song. But when I watch the video.....yeah, a little 'cheesy'. Thanks for reacting to it.
Saw Aldo on this tour in San Antonio and Corpus Christi. He opened for Cheap Trick. S.A. had Axe with them and Corpus didn't.
Back in the day when I made mix tapes this song and Say What You Will by Fastway always made it on there.
The sounds from the beginning of the video where he lands in the helicopter, are used in a cool post apocalyptic movie called 𝑬𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒓𝒌 with Kurt Russel, about future New York City being walled off because of rampant crime, and made in to a giant prison.
Aldo Nova has lots of connections to Bon Jovi writing some of this music and production as well.
You just took me back like 40+ years with this song ✌️
This song was used as the theme song For Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory , you may have heard it from there.
Thank you, I was looking for this comment. They are too young to figure out where they've heard it
This song and video were big hits when released. Guitar Hero nerds (me) connected with Aldo Nova's cool vibe and solid guitar riffs.
I remember I was over a friend's house watching football and getting drunk and his girlfriend said I would like to have a baby and he sang the chorus of this song Life is Just a Fantasy can you live this fantasy life LOL
I lived in Denver when this first came out and they played it all the time on the top rock station there. We were over the moon for this song. The whole album is kind of the same music. I recommend "You're My Love". It's a very catchy "ballad:"
"You guys should do the cover of this." LOL, just kidding. I always loved the driving beat of this song.
6:07 Jon Bon Jovi actually worked with Aldo Nova on a few songs. Runaway was one of them and Blaze of Glory. Aldo Nova also wrote songs for Celine Dion. GOOGLE it!!
Life is just a Fantasy! Can you live this fantasy life?? Awesome work. Thanks again guys!
Guys he was bigger in the States then at Home, Chartwise. He had 3 Top 15 in the US, and only one in Canada. However we cared not, as we came to see the Guitar God, rip the place apart, or see where he went next.
This was very popular for my Jr high school dance. USA baby!!
You REALLY need to check out Bare Naked Ladies. Another Canadian band.
GREAT WHITE..CALL IT ROCK N ROLL H D .
This song was hugh in 1982
Like Bon Jovi, Aldo was a big hit with the girls back in high school. I loved this song at the time but he was pretty much a one hit wonder for me. Even this song hasn't really stood the test of time.
Noticed the bad audio on the video myself years ago. Great job.
LoL I can't believe all you guys have never heard this song. It's generally the bottom of those Memorial day countdowns. 🔥🔥
The video reminds me a lot of John Carpenters movie “Escape From New York.” It even has the dark lighting, building, a helicopter, and laser fire.
he played on Bon Jovis first album
someone mentioned the Scorpions....a few greats of theirs are Animal Magnetism, The Zoo and Lovedrive. SERIOUSLY great metal, guys. Check it out.
If you want a great band from CANADA - unique and loved in Europe - with an amazing vocalist - prog rock at its finest - then listen to SAGA!!!!!!! You will not be dissapointed.
Classic....
