- The Kodak M35 is one of a new wave of plastic reusable 35mm film cameras from various companies. I picked one up back in the summer, and have really enjoyed taking photos with it - in this video I give my impressions of the camera and show some sample photographs I've taken with it.
Some gentle post-processing has been applied to the photographs shown.

Well, I’m convinced. I’m getting one. I take too many pointless pictures on my phone, I love the idea of having to limit the amount and make it count.
Beautiful photos btw!
Did u buy it!
The photos give me the chills....
I have a question, how do you scan these film photos out to put them in your video? I always wanted to get into film camera but i'm afraid the scanning process can be quite hard or tiring
Hi, it's usually possible for a film lab to scan the photos after developing them - the lab I use offers a choice of resolutions for only a little extra money, and they email me the files directly :)
You can get 35mm negative scanners or flatbed scanners can do it but it's best to get the lab to do it for you.
great video, love the voice over and the editing, also sick photos! hope to see more soon!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS, please continue to share your photos and perspective of life!! I hope all is well - xoxoxo
Lovely photos, I recognise some of them as the good old Newcastle
It works quite well! I love the B&W shots!
Lovely video! I've bought the newer version which is the M38 and I can say they both perform exactly the same but with stronger flash on the new one. I didn't quite like how cheaply they made it but I guess you get for what you paid for right? This camera really teach you just composing and framing with it. Plus with beautiful colour films makes it even more enjoyable to use it.
Still, I don't quite like this camera for how basic it is. If you want a camera with focusing, zoom and self timer, tripod mount, red eye reduction flash, get a used point n shoot film camera. They work great.
I agree, I thought this was an interesting video because I thought the quality of the pics were awful (worse than disposals) and my camera seemed to be manufactured poorly and stops at ~24-30 shots
edit: to clarify i mean the quality of the pics that I took. his look great, maybe it was the difference in the film used
I like digital cameras but i do love style cameras. My mom had a real good one when she went to college for a class she took. Sadly its hard to find such good film cameras. Trying on amazon but almost everything is digital and those that say their 35mm arent. I wish local stores in area sold more cameras like it but most are very simple. Debating about getting kodak through amazon or not.
great video! love the photos :) as a beginning film photographer, i was wondering if you recommend using a specific brand of film (kodak, ilford, etc) to shoot?
Very nice! 😍😍 A question, are the pictures in the video edited? If yes, please make a video one time where we can see the raw unedited pics.. i'm so curious to find out what they look like 😯
That little camera produces lovely images. May have to buy yet another film camera 🤔
the Olympus trip 35 is a really nice camera.
watching this video for the review but ending up seeing pics of Newcastle my fav place in the worl :)
Beautiful pictures! May I ask how was your keeper ratio with that camera since it does not perform any kind of light metering I suppose. I have always thought that just shooting blind like that would make you waste a lot of shots…
Thanks so much! I'd say on average with this camera there have been 3-5 photos per roll that I've been properly happy with how they turned out. Of course there's more than a fair share of shots that don't come out usable at all, but you can expect at least a third of the roll to be passable. I think the more you treat it like a disposable and shoot it in bright conditions or with the flash, and don't overthink it, the better results you'll get - really, I'd advise to underthink if possible, just whip it out and shoot, and more often than not you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get your scans back...
just bought this cam - wasnt expecting to see pics outside where i live aha
You have made Newcastle look very beautiful in these photos
Thanks! Not that the city really needs my help in that regard
type of battery used for flash and film advance?
Ayyy Newcastle also how do you get these photos of the camera I’m new to photography
@@cheesetoastyy6902 Toon toon and all that. You have to wind up the finished film roll and get it developed at a lab - they'll give you the developed film and can do prints and digital scans too. On the high street Max Spielmann/Timpson will do it, or you can post it off to a specialist lab
@@CarefulCharlie thanks for the info how much does this usually cost
love both these shots and this video, v.relaxing to watch!
Hello, have these been edited? I always envy such great photos and ask myself - why mine don't look like this? Though I do not edit my films 🤔
Hey, I just checked out the description box and there it says that the photos have been edited a bit (post- processing)! I usually edit mine as well by using Lightroom or VSCO :).
Thank you for the review, very helpful!
400? Wow, how was it not super overexposed?
Quick question, why does my cam’s counter display keep reverting to S?
S means start. It’s currently on the “0th” frame, indicating there’s no film or the film has not been taken up on the spool correctly.
@@zacharymartinez9455 I took a few pictures and the counter was progressing nicely but suddenly it went back to S ://
@@cheese1722 maybe yours is defective. Sorry but- these cameras are really at a disposable build quality. if you’re unable to find a fix then I would suggest sending it back if possible and investing into something a bit higher quality.
Did you use flash?
I didn't use flash in any of the photos in this video, but I have tried it and it's not bad as long as the subject isn't too far away
How do you get the photos?
Film labs will be able to develop your film and scan the images for you. A quick google should tell you if there are any places local to you, or there are others you can mail your film to for the same service
How to get the photos out of the reel?
What’s the proper battery?
Hi, the flash takes 1 AAA battery
