      You say it SEG-AH / SIG-AH, or at least that's how the old opening theme from Sonic said it. Say it how you want, but don't go around saying your way's right unless you have something to reference from.

    The StickStation was awesome, most people sat crosslegged on the floor because the cords weren't that long. It was made for that really.
    I couldn't afford one and my mom wasn't going to pay 15 bucks for a board so I made one in wood shop in JR high.
    I got a D- on the project because the shop teacher (a grumpy old bastard who was missing 3 finger tips and part of a thumb) didn't believe me when I tried to explain what it was and thought I was just being lazy by gluing two boards together.
    I even wrote STICK STATION DELUXE on it with a wood burner.

      HobbsyYT Some accents are objectively awful. For example: The Southern drawl, the Cockney accent, the Manchester accent (think Michael Bisping), and the hardcore Crocodile Dundey Australian accent. Having said all this "Seega" is ridiculous. The way to actually pronounce the name is at the beginning of every Genesis Sonic game, it's not open to interpretation.

      Your comment sums up the average comments on youtube!
      People mostly complain about the video or the person making the video instead giving an educated comment about it's content!
      About gaming in particular there are of course a lot of comments about the two "factions" of PS4 vs Xbox One users bashing the "rival" console for no apparent reason!
      With that being said, I'm Italian and since the first console from Sega the pronunciation was of no consequence as the word "sega" in Italian means saw and in teens slang "farsi una sega" means jerking off so the pronunciation is really the last of the problems about that name for us. And I remember we use to make fun of people playing with a Sega for obvious reasons!

    The Alpha Grip is meant to be an ergonomic keyboard replacement, specifically for those with carpal tunnel. The idea is to be able to type without having to move your hands, wrists, at all, or your fingers much. I've never used one myself but I've heard there's a huge learning curve. You basically have to re-learn how to type, and its even more difficult than a regular keyboard, since most keys are activated by using a combination of buttons to type a single letter. Trackballs aren't all that bad for accuracy though, especially if they're well made. I can't vouch for the one that's on the alpha grip though.
    I think it's a great concept, since the keyboard is very oldschool technology. It originated from typewriters, before computers were even thought of. Capslock was added because there's no fonts on a typewriter so in order to make words or sentences stand out, the caps lock was necessary.. The fact that it's still included on most keyboard is a testament to the keyboard's origins.

    To be fair, the Power Glove only failed to work for games that weren't designed for it. There were a few games in development for it (including a few adventure games that were cancelled because of the Power Glove's poor sales), but expecting it to work for Super Mario Bros. is like expecting the Kinect to work perfectly with an unaltered version of Halo 3.

    Fun Fact: Trackballs (at least ones with optical tracking) are MORE precise than a regular mouse. The disadvantage is high speed movements, required for dynamic FPS games which you can't really pull off with just your fingers. I've used a trackball most of my life, I know what I'm talking about. And yes, I did switch to a regular mouse after all (also because the only trackball that makes sense to use kept on breaking [Logitech Marble Mouse]).

    • @XetXetable
      @XetXetable 9 лет назад

      I personally use a Logitech M570. Really, as long as you can reliably move the mouse a single pixel, it's impossible to get higher precision. It's not that hard to get that with a track ball. Most people who think it's less accurate than a pad either never used one, or used one once and confused their lack of practice with an issue with the device itself.

    • @BestAnimeFreak
      @BestAnimeFreak 9 лет назад

      FokkerBoombass Yeah, I used a trackball years ago. It is just a matter of practice and to play FPS or other games where just as easy, as with a regular mouse ^^It was pretty different to switch from trackball to a normal mouse again xD You could say, the aim got worse xD

    and regarding the HD DVD, Sony was largely to blame for that, because they publish a lot of false advertising, including the whole thing about how Blu-rays can hold so much more data. Thing is... While it is true that the Blu-ray could hold 25 gigabytes per layer and the HD DVD could only hold 18 gigabytes per lair, by the time Sony started their massive campaign to push Blu-ray, there were already 4 layer HD DVD discs available and they were finalizing testing on 8 layer discs. At that point, you would be looking at 50 gigabytes total space vs 432GB at the time of the Blu-ray war. (And just like beta max, sadly the higher quality media format failed. I have tested multiple movies side by side on both formats. Hell, ALL my HD DVD discs have the option to use Dolby OR DTS audio.)
    They were focusing on movie quality and durability. Hard to damage /scratch an HD DVD. (The stronger/thicker plastic is why they couldn't hold as much per layer - the beam would lose focus. Same laser btw, still 405nm.) They went on to be used as a successful business data backup device in place of magnetic tapes. Faster and more durable/long lasting. Still in use by a good number of larger companies that need to keep big records like medical labs backing up full-service x-rays, uncompressed CT scans, MRIs, etc. containing every bit of data from every scanner or sensor or machine used that they need permanent records of. Rewritable discs are only 2 layers though AFAIK so... Yeah. 36GB per disk.

    • @superphatcakes
      @superphatcakes 9 лет назад +1

      All words can be and are pronounced in multiple ways. It depends on a person's accent for the most part. Whether it's correct or not really doesn't matter. You obviously haven't learned much yourself, considering, for example, Nissan is both pronounced "Nee-sun" and "Nee-san" by people. The Japanese say "Nee-san", the British pronounce it " Nee-sun".

    "Jog Con" actually had some context behind the name. Many professional-level VTRs had what was called a "jog wheel" which was essentially what you see on the controller - a wheel with a finger divot - to "jog" between frames for editing purposes. Namco was apparently trying to adapt that technology for game controllers.

  • @Kamifox1
    @Kamifox1 9 лет назад +1

    The Gameboy Printer was actually amazing for its time. Remember, it's OLD, it's not gonna have the same quality as a modern day PC printer.
    The eReader was also a really good device, it was just poorly implemented and ridiculously hard to find (or at least it was in the UK).
    Lastly, the REZ Trance Vibrator was later recreated in Child of Eden (or at least the PS3 version, dunno about the 360 version) by allowing the player to set either a second PS3 controller or a second PS Move controller (or PS3 controller/Move Controller if you're not using one or the other) to vibrate despite the game having no multiplayer. Now, we all know the joke that was often made about the shape of the Move controller, right?

      Haha it's true though, most Americans aren't good at discerning the difference in accents. It shouldn't matter, as nobody would make the mistake of calling Sega "See-ga". It wasn't an accident, because people who don't have a clue what games are know what Sega is. The real problem here is Americans openly discriminating because of foreign pronunciation. Actually, the HD DVD player for the 360 comes in pretty handy. You see, when you play a game the disc is not constantly spinning. It will stop after it has loaded what it has to and start back up once it needs to load more. When you put a movie in the disc tray, it has to continually spin the disc to play the movie (Think of it like a projector and film. If you stop the projector, you stop the movie) and continues to do so once the movie is over and you are on the main menu. Over time, this can cause a lot of unnecessary wear and tear on the motor inside of your Xbox. This is easily preventable by purchasing the HD DVD player as it is designed for heavy use of the motor. If the motor in the DVD player does break, it would be much easier and cheaper to replace over your entire XBOX (Mine costed like $10-$15 and it came with some HD DVDs, but this was at a locally owned game store). Although, I think that Microsoft should have just designed the 360 with DVDs in mind. Eliminating the need to buy a DVD player. But it was 2005 when the 360 came out, so criticizing Microsoft for not thinking about DVDs when designing is like criticizing a walkie talkie for not being able to text. It wasn't designed for that, it was designed for talking. Anyway, for being a good sport and reading this long winded comment here's a long winded joke. A lizard was in the jungle smoking pot, when his best friend monkey showed up. "Hey lizard, whatcha doin'?" Monkey asked. "I'm smoking some herb. Wanna help me kill this bag?" Lizard replied. "Sure, why not?" Monkey said as they went on to smoke close to a quarter pound. "Dude, I'm so fucking thirsty. I gotta get something to drink." Lizard said while walking of to the river. "Okay man." Monkey said, not realizing that Lizard was already gone. Meanwhile, Lizard was quenching his thirst at the river. The pot had taken so much of an effect on him that he fell in the river while getting a drink. His Friend Crocodile quickly pulled him out. "Dude, what's wrong with you?" Crocodile asked. "Nothing I'm just a little light headed from all the weed me and monkey smoked. But if you think I'm fried, you should see monkey." Lizard replied. Crocodile then proceeded the walk to the log that Monkey and Lizard liked to hang out at. When he got there, he saw monkey, his eyes beet red and barely open. "Whats up, Monkey?" Crocodile asked. It took several seconds to respond, and when he did, he looked up and asked, "Dude, how much fuckin' water did you drink?!?"

      Brad Maxwell You might want to look at this thing called a 'globe'. If you look for Austria, then Australia you will notice a few things:
      1. Austria is part of a larger landmass, while Australia is its own continent.
      2. They are not, in any way, at the same location geographically.
      Then, if you look at country data on them you will find that both of them are not "third-world countries". You will then realize your mistake and apologize to those you have offended.

      Kinect v1.0 has sold 38million Units, Kinect v2 (Windows and XB1 Combined) is at 6million Units.
      In terms of a Peripheral, the only /more/ successful in comparison to install base has been the Wii Fit Board; even then we're talking by a few % more successful.
      This said I don't understand why he chose to pick on the HD-DVD Peripheral for the Xbox 360, as technically Microsoft supported it exclusively for HD Movies (physical) rather than it ever being intended for games. Had the demand been there from Developer, then Microsoft /would've/ considered supporting it with their Mid-Life Cycle update (the Xbox 360-S) which by that point HD-DVD was already a "dead" format. Yet here's the thing, so was BluRay outside of Gaming.
      The fact is in the HD-DVD Vs. BluRay Format War, it is actually Digital Distribution and Streaming.
      Sony almost bankrupt themselves trying to force the Movie industry to support BluRay and make their decision to create this format worthwhile, yet ask any Publisher (be it Game or Movie) they will all tell you that the better format to succeed would've been HD-DVD; as it had Backward Compatibility with DVD, it provided Faster Streaming, Licensing was Cheaper and more Open, it was *as* cheap as DVD to produce using the same facilities, supported both VC-1 and H.264 instead of just AAC (which is proprietary rather than open format like the previous two).
      What's more there was such a big deal on HD-DVD having less capacity (30GB Vs. 50GB) compared to BluRay, but in 2007 shortly before calling it a day because Sony was buying off the Movie industry; with them forcing their Studios to exclusively use BluRay while all the other Studios cautiously supporting both formats, mean well everything was available on BluRay where-as only half the market was available on HD-DVD ... well HD-DVD Spec 1.1 was release that finalised the 51GB Triple-Layer that meant space-wise would've been on-par for still noticeable cheaper production costs which was still compatible with the release Hardware; where-as Triple or Quad Layer BluRay required new hardware.
      Still that isn't the direction the market went, Digital Distribution frankly became the /core/ for Movies and slowly Games as well by this point. Running directly from a HDD also is much faster than Optical Media, especially BluRay; which PlayStation 3 did for almost every game anyway; because the format was so damn slow.
      Gaming wise I'd still highly question how important BluRay /actually/ is. As it has always felt like just a bigger problem, and I'd much rather still get DVD or HD-DVD that have more rapid reading capabilities; even if they're the smaller formats of just an installer with a download-on-demand / background install streaming. Makes far more sense, mind I know this functionality was stripped from the XB1 when everyone complained about the "Always Online" functionality.
      When Valve do it in 99% of their games, sure everyone is fine with it... Microsoft or EA suddenly they're Evil Corporate overlords who hate Consumers. Fucking logic of some Gamers just astounds the shit out of my sometimes.

      ***** both suck and were pathetic attempts to hook the casuals. Arguing over which is better is like arguing over the dumb peripherals in the video.
      Though we may stupidly pledge allegiances to different corporations, lets not forget that at the end of the day no one gives a fuck. Just play whatever you like and sure, get into internet fights if that makes you feel better. Cheers

    • @Leyvin
      @Leyvin 9 лет назад

      Ser D. Hawke o_0 Kinect was never intended for the casual market, just like the Wiimote from Nintendo wasn't... the problem was Developers and Reputation.
      It's like the GameCube where it was unarguable the most Capable console of the 6th Generation but it got tarred with this "Well it's a Childrens Console" that ultimately hurt it despite the fact that it had a fairly large library of adult focused games many of which were exclusive.
      Most "Hardcore" or "Core" games are frankly far too quick to judge and dismiss. PlayStation Move sold poorly, so was barely supported; but was a far better version of the WiiMote.
      The Wii itself didn't have any games that really made use of it until fairly late in it's life-cycle, especially as the initial mentality was Motion Controls exclusively rather than Hybrid.
      Kinect is the same, it didn't work exactly how Gamers expected; and here's the weirder thing, it sold massively well ... but Developers STILL refused to even put in the effort to support it. Yet you look at it's success on Windows, which no there are no games but there are ALOT of professional applications; such-as 3D Modelling (e.g. Solidworks supports it) within the Aerospace, Automotive, Music and Medical professions.
      There is a Robotic Probe on the Moon that utilises Kinect V.1 .. highlights what /CAN/ be done with creativity and effort, while for most Xbox Gamers it's just an expansive Webcam with built-in Mic for Skype.
      You can say it is silly to argue over these things all you like, but this is the problem... not about waving our e-peens about what product was best, but really question why the fuck these were not better supported by Developers.
      I mean FFS the Kinect has a Larger Install Base than the N64, Saturn, Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox Original... yet for some reason most Developers won't touch it because "The Market isn't Large Enough"; I mean what fucked up thinking it that?!

    i just want to say this, the hd-dvd format (and laser disc as someone below pointed out) has some of the highest quality movie versions on them. for laserdisc many dvd versions were poor conversions of the laserdisc, adding on laserdisc has better sound than dvd, outside of flipping the disc, i would rather have a laserdisc than a dvd just for quality sake.
    but back to hd dvd, look at the comparison between the thing blu ray and the thing hd dvd... one of my favorite movies that got butchered on bluray has a perfect version on hd dvd... granted there is less of this for this format than there is in support of laserdisc, but its still a sticking point.

      I bought a Laserdisc player earlier today, and can honestly say it looks better on my television than DVDs do. It only lost the optical war because of the cost, size, and practicality concerns.
      Same goes for Betamax. Better quality, but more expensive and clunkier than VHS.

    • @alidan
      @alidan 9 лет назад

      Chris Barbati beta lost to porn, vhs over time got lighter and lighter cutting out material and dropping the overall quality

    • @cb1671
      @cb1671 9 лет назад

      alidan Regardless of the content, the Beta (as a physical medium) was superior.
      Of course, if content was made available only on VHS, then that would obviously persuade consumers to buy VHS. Which is part of how JVC won.

    About the trackball on the AG5: I've actually played against people who used a trackball for RTS/FPS. There i saw that it is really not necessarily about what you use, but can you use it and how you use it. If you think about it, a trackball is just an upside down ball-mouse. Once you get that, it's the same as using a mouse.
