For those who like reading this far into the description, it's worth noting that there is a strategy to use a super reportal instead of 5 reportals to skip into course 3, but its very inconsistent. Also, there are potential theories to skip straight into course 5, skipping courses 1, 2, 3, and 4! However, it is unlikely that that strategy will ever come to fruition.
Thanks to attmayMB, baister09, daver12345 and zMg zach for helping with the video creation process. An extra special thanks to daver12345 who helped record coop gameplay!
...and my mic appeared to have some weird problems while recording audio. Oops! Some subtle but noticeable peaks and blowing on mic, will try to fix for the next video!
This video is not an actual speedrun world record, nor a speedrun tutorial. This video is a showcase of a speedrun strategy that goes in-depth to the various glitches and bugs that make the strategy possible.

"Skipping the team building --"
If they're able to pull that off, they obviously don't need the team building course.
Yeah "team building", more like "team built".
Cute pfp
The real team building was the skipping of the team building we did along the way

These “how speedrunners skip” videos are really entertaining
I agree, i havent played either portal in awhile but they are still interesting to see the way speedrunners take advantage of mechanics’n’stuff
Yeah
Yed
@@burridi it’s really hard! I’m dumb for trying to use cheats in both games I broke the game and when I opened it after it was a black screen. I had to reinstall the game in order to get passed it

after hearing the slowmo: we've been tricked, back-stabbed, and quite positively bamboozled
Lmao yeah.
That's a reference to one of GLaDOS's lines
I actually laughed out loud! I was so not expecting that!
+1
0:21 "What if you're a speedrunner, where the laws of physics merely become suggestions?" IS SUCH A POWERFUL LINE.
It's also really badly phrased. The laws of physics become merely suggestions
in portal physics basicly dont exist

BRUUUUUUH I JUST HAD TO MAKE THE PLAYBACK SPEED TO 1/4 TO ACTUALLY HEAR WHAT YOU SAID, AND HOLY CRAP THAT WAS NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING
i know i did that too its insane
Lol
Are you acting excited on purpose?
@@zarrowthehorse no i wasn't it was my genuine reaction to when i realized thats what he said
I just put 0.2 playback speed on yt and it was good enough
That “only a number of my viewers are actually subscribed” skip was real nice
Imagine if coop had different gameplay, there would be a portal gun for player one that shoots blue and green portals, while player two would shoot orange and purple portals, but instead of the players own portals connecting, the blue portals would connect to the orange ones and the purple ones would connect to the green, greatly increasing the amount of cooperation required.
Yes, but that would make "trust chambers" much harder to design.
Trust chambers are chambers that have one robot be in one place while the other robot controls pieces of that other place to let the other robot progress (or to kill him).
I know this from a developer commentary node in the coop section.
I slowed down the “fast version” and it was a clever self promotion.
Edit: holy crap 400 likes! Thank you guys.

Alternatively, you could do what I did and have all 5 courses magically unlocked for some unclear reason as soon as you boot up the (local) multiplayer for the first time
Your friend probably had all the levels unlocked already. :)
@@Nidoskull No it was local multiplayer (one on keyboard and one on controller). I think it has to do with the fact that local multiplayer is notoriously clunky, since achievements and emotes also didn't work properly.
This happened to me too. We did all the levels out of order and didn't even realise. It was great.
Same. My dad never plays Co-op and my sister and I decided to use his account to play portal 2 before we got our own accounts. All the test courses were unlocked, but we somehow went in order anyway xD
So how did this happened? It happens to me and my bro too and we're literally playing the Course 4 Final Level as our first level.

centaurium, did you forget to switch a accounts
These are some of my absolute favorite videos to watch, I find it so intriguing how all these glitches work and are connected into such chains to achieve a simple goal! Also, I hear some Portal Stories: Mel soundtrack, which is always a plus.
I love how games can be broken in so many different ways.
Aayyyyyy, I was there when he was asking if he should do the joke on stream
I love this series, I subscribed for it, I can't wait to see more! You put so much work into explaining each glitch without going overboard- as well as how the glitches changed or got improved- with superb visuals, it's great! I don't even mind if you have to cover other games just like with Half Life 1.
When you're a speedrunner the laws of physics become the recommendations of physics
Great video! I think I will get world record now :)
Wow what a great comment!
Hey man just wanna let you know there's this "Pr0tal" guy copying your comment
I love your use of the Mel soundtrack in this video!
Dammmnnn the slowed down version of the tip is really a mind opener! Hitting subscribe rn just that, dude!
Thanks for the fun date idea, need to do it asap
That self plug was great! Instantly Subbed.
Dude that fast explanation got me thanks man you got a sub
"reportal glitch"
*says 5 seconds later that its an intended mechanic*
It's more of an exploit
It's in a quantum state of being both intended and a glitch
@@st.altair4936 i think its an intended mechanic but the way it is used wsa not intended
@@dailyyy5979 Its a joke
You don’t Upload very often but when you do I know it’s some good shit right there
Dude these videos are actually amazing
I actually like the thing u did with slo-mo so i subscribed XD
Really nice to know that there is a portal 2 community active still in 2020! I started to make coop maps this year and I fell in love with
That was the most well done and tasteful plug I've ever heard. It'll take a looong time to top that one.
This man is an portal master, I’m striving to get this good.
subbed for the sped up version asking me to do so. I would love to see this become standard practice
The fast voice is him plugging. Genius.
Lol. U got my sub just because the end of the video was recorded in perfect speed to sound normal at the slowest playback lmao.
Make more frequently please!
It is the only thing this channel needs.
Cool video. This can actually be done in pretty much all source engine games, including online titles such as CS:GO. The method is different though, abusing what is essentially controlled lag-switching. Your weapon's shooting position is completely separate from any hitbox or point on your player model, and thus can be desynced to create a "fake" duck.
Huh, I've never heard of the counter-strike variant of this glitch. Really cool!
100K subs!! gg msushi
The part at the end is him saying to like subscribe and to check out his twitch
So cool how some glitches from portal weren't patched in portal 2. In portal you can quantum crouch, just with a different and easier method which is also used to go out if bounds.
5:08 "as the player will now die"
me: *relatable*
i love new portal content! thank you!
that x0.25 self promo actually got me, well done
I subbed because of the self promo, found your videos today lol. Awesome content!
You've earned that subscribe. That was brilliant
Nice touch using Portal Stories: Mel music.
Nice trick their with playing the audio fast made me go back and play it in slow mo, big brain time
6:30 I actually slowed down the video so I could hear what was being said in slow motion. You actually put a message in there!
the worst of all is that even breaking reality it still make sense
Msushi videos are always the best
Gocnak and I spent a while trying to hypothesize ideas of getting into the course 5 tubes directly from underneath the map. Good to see people were at least able to find a skip halfway.
slow part answered my questions thank you
what is an msushi video without "speedrunners and glitch hunters"
msushi really is a good explainer on glitches and stuff he needs that attention
The man is back
That was a nice reference at the end.
I've always loved co op speedruns since you need 2 runners work together so this video is a treat
That was a slick way of getting a sub outta me, Well done
im having a very good time imagining glados watching these robots do this
Bro the quick explanation got me
Nice one on the fast bit
Best video made me tear up ❤️
I caught the substance of what you said at the end of the video without replaying it.
I like that the skip plays out like a puzzle solution itself.
I think I never clicked faster on a video. Great job Sushi, I liked it!
i love your portal references in a portal video
r/expectedportal
Love how I didn’t even need to slow down the video to hear you saying like comment and subscribe
That is the best self promo ever even with a reference 10 out of 10
That speed up at the end asking to subscribe was a great reference to that one room in portal 2 where GLaDOS says something really fast.
Like if you used youtube's playback speed option to figure out what he said.
Lovely. I love these Videos.
that slowmotion thing was so cool now im subbscrebing
That info et the end was so fast, that I had to slow down recording to normal speed.
the speedrun sushi is back
Nice reference to the Fizzler intro at the end
I wonder what that nodraw room under the course selection room is for. Maybe I should try decompiling the hub map and see what logic entities or whatever is down there.
hello sorry for being late I love your content very good video: D
Nice fast explanation
Very clever you got my like and subscribe for that one.
subbing only for that sweet slow mo thing
I thought that quick sentence was a rickroll. instead, you promoted your channel. im subbed.
thats so creative really using the fact that there is two of you
that was a promotion....man I fell for it, very clever lol
Wow that was a amazing plug the fast bit
This trick was genius. +1 subscriber, i guess)
i remembered what you said but in slow motion, nice promo
6:30 so I’m following that advise because that was amazing
"when the laws of physics are just a suggestion"
i cannot describe how true this is
"the rest of this video does require some explination"
the 28 seconds left in the video
I can't believe I went back and rewatched the end of the video at quarter speed just to be told to subscribe if I liked it
6:33
That was slick, I'll give it to you.
yay! an upload!
Wow! I knew about the reportal glitch pretty soon after Portal 2 came out, way before I heard of speedrunning, but I had no idea why it worked. It being intentional wouldn't have crossed my mind, but I can see why, looking at Portal 1 speedruns. That's a pretty cool development to come naturally from an anti-cheese feature.
I I love the Easter egg at the end of when GLaDOS did the same thing. And that self promo is genius actually made me watch it
Earned a sub for that promo
Holy shit yes, just fucking yes, that sped up thing was excellent!
me: watches the fast speech in 0.25% playback speed
also me: I REGRET NOTHING
i can't stop thinking about this video even in the shower and on the way to work
this was a life changing experience that i'll never forget
