I feel like kids these days are genuinely missing an outlet for grief, anger, anxiety, etc in their music that us 80s and 90s kids had in bands like Korn. People now are like "you must be so angry listening to music like that" but it's the opposite. The anger goes into it.
@@benharwood3698 Genuinely, this is the best message I’ve ever seen about the youth. Thanks for showing you don’t need to shit on them to acknowledge what they could use.
My favorite band by far. It's a really important band for people who had an extremely messed up childhood. Other bands singing about partying, love, and politics. This is more about the emotional, and mental state people get in, and has very accurate lyrics for that kind of stuff. It takes an amazing amount of self awareness, and deep self analysis. Something a lot more people need to do on a regular basis.
I saw some older guy react to this song and he thought the video was satanic, he didn't understand that it's causing awareness of people who have gone through that stuff and listening to it could be a way for those people to help cope and heal. It's awesome that you understood the message right off the bat. Subscribed 👍
The singer, Jonathon Davis, was advised emotionally physically and sexually, as well as bullied and abused during school. Poor guy didn't seem to get a break till after they were famous. When the band first started they played a show a had a guy try to fight him, but I think it was the groups manager ended up jumping in and beating that guy down. Then just a few years ago Jonathon Davis lost his wife to cancer. As aggressive and took her quick. He was also a mortician and basically owns a museum of serial killer stuff. Oh yeah and he is also a DJ. And his half brother also had a moment of fame singing in another nu-metal band. Had a crippling drug addiction and drinking problem. Inspiring how he keeps going even though life has given him every reason to not keep going. And for the sake of your soul, don't listen to the song daddy. It will break you, it's based on his childhood. It broke him just to sing it once in the studio and took almost 15 years for him to be able to ever fully play it live.
he didn’t even get a break when they got famous, he was dealing with multiple addictions until around 1999, and was put on su1c1de watch for a large portion of the family values tour in 1999. the band have also been very open about how the other members of korn used to bully jonathan, so he was bullied not only his entire childhood but also into his adult life by his friends. he was also abused by his ex wife, and got custody of their children just a couple of days before she died from an overdose.
I thought his wife committed suicide while he was on tour in Australia last year, or earlier this year. I doubt he would've left if she was in a bad condition.
This is one of my favorite songs because of my history of being abused physically and emotionally by my father at a young age and then having depression, anxiety and suicide attempts, the lyrics spoke to me and let me know I wasn’t alone with my feelings
The singer of korn jonathan davis was abused as a child and thats where we get all this emotion in korn's music. Its raw and powerful. And they really lay it out. Korn is my all time favorite band. I can listen to them for hours and do daily. You said they are different... yes, yes they are, there was no mold to form them... completely organic
I recommend either "Blind" or "Here to Stay" as your next song by Korn. Both are great. So is "Shoots and Ladders" though. Definitely can't go wrong with any of those 3.
I love KoRn and saw them live at the 1996 Go Bang Fetival in my hometown Lübeck, Germany. Jonathan Davis played the bagpipes live on stage and I freaked out. Watch "Korn - Shoots and Ladders (Official HD Video)"
KORN blind..live Woodstock 99...is a must...so you can see there stage presence and how the crowd loves them.. you should research Jonathan Davis because he was abused as a child and was able to write about it in his songs..so alot of people can relate to the music
Issues and Follow the Leader are both absolutely in my personal top 5 albums I've ever heard, that was, imo, peak Korn, they've sadly never got remotely close since but the two earlier albums were also top notch. Good stuff on the react.
You know this video might seem pretty raw and real, but it is a reality for so many people out there. I'm in my 50s now but I was very abused by my father with a belt over and over. I survived it, and I hope everybody out there can too! If you need help just reach out to your friends and family members, there is help for you..
You should check out Shoots and Ladders. It's one of my favorites. Also, someone said to not react to Daddy. I agree. It's a devastating song for those who have been abused. The first time I heard it I wanted to puke. If you can't handle a visual of childhood trauma then I wouldn't go there. You'll want to fuck some ppl up after💔
Daddy is actually a very cathartic song for survivors of abuse, speaking as one myself. Yeah, it's a rough listen and makes you feel yucky feelings, but that's how victims of abuse feel everyday after it happens. It's very comforting to know that someone else truly knows how I feel. It's a song that means a lot to me, and a lot of other people like me. Also, YES to Shoots and Ladders! 🤘
As a kid physically and sexualy abused by a family friend that used to babysit him and parents didn't believe him LISTEN TO SONG DADDY😢 then when he was about 17 1/2 18 he worked at a corners office and witnessed a 11 month old come in sexualy abused and beaten to death Song PRETTY then few yrs ago wife lost her battle to cancer
You should check out the song "Hush" by the band, Hellyeah. Same topic, from the singer's perspective. Plus the bonus of Vinnie Paul, from Pantera, on the drums
Regardless of what is happening in the video, I think the what is beating him down is life. And the thing that is, "falling away from me" is himself. His self identity. At least that is what I got out of the lyrics, sans video. I think that is most evident when he talks about suicide and how life is "literally" going to beat him down into the ground.
Try Angels Son and Licking Cream, Denial aswell. They have many hits to listen to. I do prefer their earlier stuff as it's heavier and less weird vocals.
Listen my dad whooped my ass pretty good a couple times but I still love him he’s my #1 hero. Now I get to yell at him for eating cheese with a high blood pressure lol
Check out Invent Animate - The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was [Official Music Video] Im a musician so I know what Im talkin about :) If you only want to do 1 of the 2 songs in the video definitely do As If It Never Was but the full video is worth for sure.
Good lord man. Songs about physical/mental child abuse & trauma. Not that hard to understand from the video. Happens a lot in homes and no one ever knows.
Yeah, having a "father" in your life isn't as great as its made out to be all the time, but there are the good ones as well. That's why it's so important to let the good ones that their appreciated, and new fathers strive to be the best they can be. Korn is an emotional rabbit hole.
do more korn please, if u think u ready and u want to be brave react to Daddy, or else if you need more time to digest them then Blind is a classic one or Shoots&Ladders, all in the family is a very silly fun one which jonathan davis himself apparently dislikes 🤣🤣
I dig Korn. These earlier albums were definitely Jonathan Davis's therapy.
And mine!!!

I too was advised by trusted individuals .
@@_zombie_queen_ if you have trauma it can open up wounds, but even without trauma just being a human with feelings will break your heart on that song
This song resonates with me. Since my teens. I'm perpetually depressed. But this the best song to describe how depression feels. Beats you down.
Thank you ...thank you thank you ..for doing more Korn....best metal band around...in my opinion lol... KORNTASTIC!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥😎👍
them and pantera
This is one of my favorite songs because of my history of being abused physically and emotionally by my father at a young age and then having depression, anxiety and suicide attempts, the lyrics spoke to me and let me know I wasn’t alone with my feelings
Ok snowflake we all went thru shit. Don't need to cry about it.

Love the reactions! New sub here. Keep up the great work 🤘
Fun fact FRED DURST from limp bizkit director 4 this music video
I love the imagery of this video, of how music can be the buffer between you and whatever is banging down the door, to help you escape.
Yes, and at the end it goes into the girl's music box - as if they're giving this song to kids in that situation as something to hold on to.
I used to listen to a lot of Korn when I was younger.
